🎶 "Bruce In The USA": The Ultimate Springsteen Tribute Experience

TONIGHT AT 7PM IN MENTOR

"Bruce In The USA" is far from just another tribute band. This high-energy musical experience meticulously recreates the magic of a Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band concert, both musically and visually.

Matt Ryan, a former cast member of the renowned "Legends In Concert" in Las Vegas, began portraying Springsteen in 2000. His successful performances in Las Vegas led him to perform worldwide, eventually evolving into the "Bruce In The USA" show.

The band is composed of seasoned, world-class musicians, some of whom have played with renowned acts like Queen, Meatloaf, Blue Oyster Cult, Hall and Oates, and many more. This powerhouse ensemble has set a new standard in tribute performances, earning the title of the world’s top tribute to the E Street Band's musical legacy.

Springsteen's concerts are legendary, known for their marathon, party-like atmosphere, and sell out almost immediately. "Bruce In The USA" fills the gap for fans during the long waits between Springsteen's tours, offering an authentic concert experience.

In addition to the fantastic music, attendees of the "Bruce In The USA" concert can look forward to a delightful selection of food from local vendors, as well as an assortment of beers and wines. The venue offers lawn seating, so guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs for a comfortable experience. While outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted, outside alcohol, glass containers, and pets are not allowed on the main amphitheater grounds.

Admission and parking for all Mentor Rocks events are free, made possible by the generous support of Mentor Rocks sponsors.

🦟 Lake County Enhances Mosquito Control Amid Increased Rainfall

Recent heavy rains have kept the Lake County General Health District (LCGHD) mosquito control team busy. The most visible aspect of their efforts is nighttime spraying with new, quieter, battery-powered electric sprayers. By August 1st, all spray routes in the county were completed once, and a second round has commenced.

The surveillance program has collected over 3,500 mosquitoes for West Nile Virus testing and identification. With West Nile Virus endemic in the area, LCGHD continues to monitor the mosquito population. As of August 1st, West Nile Virus has been detected in eight mosquito pools in Lake County, with each pool consisting of up to 50 mosquitoes.

LCGHD Supervisor of Mosquito Control, Bert Mechenbier, advises residents to eliminate standing water around their homes and use personal protection to control mosquitoes. He recommends disposing of containers that can hold water, keeping roof gutters clean, maintaining and covering swimming pools and hot tubs when not in use, and regularly changing the water in bird baths and fountains. Filling or draining puddles and ditches, eliminating seepage from cisterns and septic systems, and removing standing water around animal watering troughs are also crucial.

To protect against mosquito bites, avoiding outdoor activities at dawn and dusk and use insect repellent. They advise using EPA-registered insect repellents containing DEET, picaridin, IR3535, or oil of lemon eucalyptus. Follow the directions, especially with children. Wearing light-colored, long-sleeved clothing, ensuring window and door screens are secure, and using yellow “bug lights” for outdoor lighting can also help.

For more information on mosquito control and spray routes, visit LCGHD’s website at www.lcghd.org/mosquito-control.

🛑 Ensure Children's Safety: Stop for School Buses This School Year

With the new school year approaching, drivers must stop for school buses during pick-ups and drop-offs to ensure children's safety. The greatest risk to children is getting on and off the bus, not riding it. Let's keep our kids safe by following this rule.

🏠 Homeowner’s Guide to Electrical Safety: Key Practices to Implement

As a homeowner, ensuring the safety of your household is paramount, and understanding basic electrical safety practices can help prevent potential hazards. Here are essential tips to keep your home safe from electrical dangers.

1. Inspect Your Wiring Regularly

Older homes may have outdated or damaged wiring, increasing the risk of electrical fires. Regularly inspect your wiring for frayed or exposed wires. If you notice any issues, it’s crucial to contact a licensed electrician to make necessary repairs or upgrades.

2. Avoid Overloading Outlets

Overloading outlets with multiple devices can lead to overheating and fires. Use power strips with built-in circuit breakers and spread out your electrical load by using different outlets.

3. Install Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs)

GFCIs are essential in areas with high moisture levels, such as bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor spaces. They can prevent electrical shock by shutting off power if a ground fault is detected. Make sure your home is equipped with GFCIs in these key areas.

4. Use Extension Cords Safely

While extension cords are handy, they should not be used as permanent solutions. Avoid running them under carpets or through doorways where they can be damaged. Always use the appropriate cord for the electrical load you need.

5. Keep Electrical Appliances Away from Water

Water is a good conductor of electricity, and appliances can become dangerous if they come into contact with it. Ensure that electrical devices are kept away from sinks, bathtubs, and other water sources.

6. Be Cautious with DIY Electrical Work

While DIY projects can save money, electrical work should be approached with caution. Always turn off the power at the circuit breaker before starting any electrical project. If you are unsure about any aspect of the work, it is safer to hire a professional.

7. Educate Your Family on Electrical Safety

Make sure everyone in your home understands basic electrical safety principles, such as not inserting objects into outlets, recognizing the smell of burning wires, and knowing where the main circuit breaker is located.

8. Check for Recalls on Electrical Products

Occasionally, manufacturers will recall electrical products due to safety defects. Stay informed about recalls by registering your products and regularly checking the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website.

Implementing these electrical safety tips can significantly reduce the risk of electrical hazards in your home. Stay vigilant and proactive in maintaining a safe living environment for you and your family.

Guardians Edged Out by Diamondbacks in Extra-Inning Thriller, 7-6

The Cleveland Guardians faced a tough defeat against the Arizona Diamondbacks, losing 7-6 in 10 innings. Logan Allen started for Cleveland but had a challenging beginning, taking a hit off his hand and head. Despite this, he stayed in the game and performed admirably, retiring the last 10 batters he faced before being replaced at the start of the sixth inning. This inning proved pivotal as Arizona scored two more runs to take a two-run lead. Cleveland utilized eight pitchers throughout the game.

Cleveland's scoring began with a Ramirez double to right field in the first inning, followed by a ground-out by Josh Naylor that brought Andres Gimenez home. In the second inning, Bo Naylor singled to center, scoring Gimenez. Then Gimenez continued his strong performance with a single to center that scored two more runs. The Guardians tied the game in the ninth with a sacrifice fly by Daniel Schneemann, which brought Bo Naylor home.

This loss marks the third consecutive defeat for Cleveland.
