Lake Side Flea - Mentor Headlands Beach Park
Lake Side Flea x Mystic Market, a free community arts event, is set to take place from 1 to 6 p.m. on August 3 at Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor, specifically in Parking Lot P-12. This event, organized by Morgan Bukovec, aims to unite local nonprofits, vendors, artists, musicians, food trucks, and families from across Ohio in a celebration of community and the natural beauty of Headlands Beach State Park.
The event will span Parking Lots P-12 and P-13, the concession stand, and the beach, featuring 80 vendors and artists, 11 food trucks, five musicians and entertainers, beach yoga, family and kids' summer activities, a chalk fest, face painting, summer crafts, kite flying, and more.
This marks the second annual Lake Side Flea x Mystic Market, which has seen a threefold increase in size since its debut. Sponsored by Tour Lake County, the event has already garnered interest from over 6,000 people.
The event aims to raise funds for partner nonprofits, support local Ohio businesses, artists, and musicians, and create a family-friendly atmosphere at Headlands Beach. 📰 $300,000 Grant Awarded to Repair Mentor-on-the-Lake Park
State Representative Daniel P. Troy has secured $300,000 to support the repair and restoration of Lake Overlook Park in Mentor-on-the-Lake. This funding is part of the recently passed State Capital Budget.
At the latest Mentor-on-the-Lake City Council meeting, Troy publicly announced the grant, presenting a ceremonial check to Mayor David Eva and the city council members. Troy expressed his satisfaction in obtaining this appropriation, highlighting its importance for the repair and restoration of Lake Overlook Park at the end of Reynolds Road.
Troy emphasized the significance of providing safe lakefront access for citizens, fulfilling the city's request for this financial support. The Lake Overlook Beach Park offers public access to a Lake Erie beach, featuring amenities like a playground and a gazebo.
Mayor Eva expressed gratitude towards Troy for securing the necessary funds, noting that the project would not have been possible without his assistance. Eva highlighted the ongoing erosion issues and stressed that this grant would help preserve the city's only park. He praised Troy for his consistent support of the entire Lake County community.

🏋️Stay Fit at Home: Effective Workout Routines Without the Gym
With the increasing demands of daily life, finding time to visit the gym can be challenging. However, staying fit and healthy doesn’t require a gym membership or expensive equipment. Home workout routines offer a convenient and cost-effective way to maintain your fitness goals. Here’s a guide to help you get started with an effective home workout regimen.
Setting Up Your Home Workout Space
Creating a dedicated space for your workouts is essential. This doesn’t need to be a large area; a small, clutter-free space in your living room or bedroom can work perfectly. Ensure you have enough room to move freely and perform exercises without restrictions. A yoga mat or a thick carpet can provide cushioning for floor exercises.
Essential Equipment
While bodyweight exercises are highly effective, a few pieces of equipment can enhance your home workouts. Consider investing in:
Resistance Bands: Versatile and portable, they can be used for strength training and stretching.
Dumbbells: A set of light to medium weights can add intensity to your routines.
Stability Ball: Great for core exercises and improving balance.
Jump Rope: An excellent tool for cardiovascular workouts.
Effective Home Workout Routines
To create a balanced workout plan, incorporate exercises that target different muscle groups. Here are some key exercises to include:
Cardio: Start with a warm-up to get your heart rate up. Jumping jacks, high knees, and mountain climbers are effective cardio exercises that don’t require any equipment.
Strength Training: Use bodyweight exercises like push-ups, squats, and lunges to build muscle. For added resistance, incorporate dumbbells or resistance bands.
Core Workouts: Strengthen your core with planks, Russian twists, and leg raises. A stability ball can make these exercises more challenging.
Flexibility and Cool Down: End your workout with stretching exercises to improve flexibility and prevent injury. Yoga poses like the downward dog and child’s pose are excellent for cooling down.
Creating a Routine
Aim for a balanced routine that includes 3-4 days of strength training and 2-3 days of cardio. Mix up your exercises to keep your workouts interesting and to work different muscle groups. For example, you could do strength training on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and cardio on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Staying Motivated
Staying motivated can be one of the biggest challenges of working out at home. Set realistic goals and track your progress. Consider using fitness apps or online workout videos for guided routines and inspiration. Working out with a friend or family member can also help keep you accountable and make exercise more enjoyable.
Incorporating these tips and routines into your daily schedule can help you stay fit and healthy from the comfort of your home. Remember, consistency is key. Even short, regular workouts can lead to significant improvements in your overall fitness and well-being.

⚾ Ramírez's Historic Home Run Lifts Guardians Over Tigers 5-0
José Ramírez made history with his 243rd career home run, surpassing Albert Belle to become second on Cleveland's all-time home run list. His performance helped lead the Cleveland Guardians to a 5-0 victory against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, marking their third consecutive win.
The game began with Josh Naylor's first-inning home run off Alex Faedo, putting Cleveland ahead early. Ramírez extended the lead with a two-run homer in the eighth inning against Jason Foley, while Brayan Rocchio added a solo shot in the ninth inning off Joey Wentz. Newly acquired Lane Thomas contributed by scoring on Ramírez's home run during his Guardians debut.
Gavin Williams earned his first win of the season, allowing only two hits over five innings and striking out eight. He led a strong pitching effort that resulted in Cleveland's tenth shutout of the season, as relievers Tim Herrin, Nick Sandin, Cade Smith, and Emmanuel Clase kept Detroit's offense at bay, allowing just four hits.
Detroit struggled offensively, hitting into inning-ending double plays and managing only four hits, which has been a recurring issue for the team this season. Tyler Holton was a bright spot for the Tigers, maintaining a scoreless streak by pitching 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief.
This victory secured the season series for Cleveland, who won 7 of the 13 games against Detroit. The Guardians will now focus on their upcoming series against the Baltimore Orioles, with Ben Lively scheduled to start the opener on Thursday.
