⚾ Late Rally Falls Short as Mentor Cardinals Lose to Medina Bees 10-9
In a thrilling softball matchup on Friday afternoon, the Mentor Cardinals girls varsity team narrowly lost to the Medina Battling Bees with a final score of 10-9. Despite trailing 9-3 in the top of the sixth inning, the Cardinals made a valiant comeback, adding two runs in the sixth and four in the seventh to tie the game. However, Medina clinched the victory with a decisive run in the bottom of the seventh.
The Cardinals showcased their batting prowess with a total of 15 hits. Key player Maggie Haydu delivered an outstanding performance, hitting 3-for-4, including two home runs and three RBIs. Sophia Smalley also made significant contributions, going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Izzy Coode hit 3-for-3, including a double. Despite their efforts, Mentor's progress was hindered by four fielding errors.
On the pitching front, Addison Belviso took the loss for Mentor, conceding only one earned run out of four, alongside three walks. Maggie Haydu also pitched in relief, yielding six runs, three of which were earned. For Medina, Bella Case secured the win.
With this result, Mentor's season record drops to 16-9, maintaining a 9-1 conference record, while Medina improves to 19-6, with a 9-3 record in conference play. Despite the loss, Mentor retains their first-place position in the conference.
🏀 Cavaliers Fall to Celtics in Game 3, Boston Leads Series 2-1
Last night in Cleveland, the Cavaliers fell to the Boston Celtics with a final score of 106-93. Despite a strong performance by Donovan Mitchell, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and three assists, the Cavs couldn't clinch the win. Evan Mobley, who briefly left the game with an ankle injury, returned to contribute 17 points and eight rebounds. Darius Garland and Caris LeVert also added to the score, with Garland netting 15 points and five assists, and LeVert scoring 15 off the bench. Overall, Donovan didn’t get the help that he really needed to carry the team to victory.
The Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum's 33 points, displayed superior gameplay, outmatching the Cavs in nearly every department. With this victory, Boston now leads the series 2-1. The teams are set to face off again on Monday night.

🧳 Cape Cod: First-Timer's Guide to Must-See Spots and Activities in 2024

Cape Cod, MA
Exploring Cape Cod for the first time is an exciting adventure. The region is home to some of New England's best beach towns, rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, unique shopping, delicious seafood, and a variety of activities that cater to all interests.
Duration of Your Visit:
While a trip could be as short as a day or extend beyond a month, most visitors typically spend 3-7 days on the peninsula. The summer traffic can make traveling around Cape Cod time-consuming, so a longer stay is advisable for those hoping to see as much as possible. Vacation rentals often require week-long stays in peak summer months, and other accommodations typically have a minimum stay requirement of 2-4 nights.
Choosing Your Base:
Picking a central town can help you explore Cape Cod efficiently. Towns like Yarmouth, Dennis, Brewster, Harwich, Chatham, and Orleans provide ample dining and shopping options while being conveniently close to Cape Cod National Seashore beaches. If you're a beach lover, staying in the outer Cape region, particularly Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown, ensures close proximity to the peninsula’s stunning shores.
Top 15 Things to Do in Cape Cod:
Cape Cod National Seashore:
With 40 miles of beaches, lighthouses, walking trails, and marshes, this federally protected land offers some of the region’s most picturesque landscapes. Coast Guard Beach and Race Point Beach are two prime choices for first-time visitors.Provincetown:
Known for its creative, lively atmosphere, Provincetown is a haven for artists and the LGBTQ+ community. Commercial Street, a three-mile-long hub, brims with art galleries, restaurants, and shops. The town also serves as a starting point for whale-watching tours.Bass Hole Boardwalk:
In Yarmouth Port, this quarter-mile-long boardwalk stretches over the salt marshes, offering mesmerizing sunset views and tranquil wildlife-watching opportunities.
