🐻 Surprise Visitor: Black Bear Spotted in Claridon Township Yard

Courtesy: Sarah Began

A family in Claridon Township, Ohio, was astonished to find a large black bear wandering through their yard in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Captured on their trail camera at around 1:15 a.m., the bear strolled across their property, offering a rare glimpse of local wildlife.

The footage, taken off Kile Road, shows what appears to be a full-grown black bear. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), adult black bears can weigh up to 700 pounds and, when standing upright, can measure between five and six feet tall.

While black bear sightings are relatively uncommon, the Ohio Wildlife Center indicates that these animals are most frequently found in Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Trumbull, and Tuscarawas counties.
