🏈 Nick Chubb's Impressive Stats Highlighted as Browns Overhaul Offensive Game Plan

In a significant offseason move, the Cleveland Browns revamped their offensive coaching staff by bringing in Ken Dorsey as the new offensive coordinator. Dorsey is known for his strategy of using three- and four-receiver sets to stretch the field and create opportunities for playmakers to challenge opposing defenses.

This offensive overhaul is expected to ease the burden on Browns' running back Nick Chubb, potentially reducing the number of times he faces stacked defensive fronts. Recently, analyst Steve Palazzolo highlighted a staggering statistic on Twitter, revealing that Chubb is tied for the fifth-most rushes against eight or more defenders in the box over the past three seasons, a feat he shares with Josh Jacobs, now with the Green Bay Packers. Both have faced such defensive alignments 208 times outside the red zone during this period.

Chubb's impressive performance includes 558 carries for 2,954 yards and 20 touchdowns in 33 games over the past three seasons. His stats might have been even more remarkable had he not been sidelined by an injury in Week 2 of last season. Despite this setback, Chubb has been diligently rehabbing, aiming for a strong return, although no specific timetable has been announced.

Comparatively, Derrick Henry, now with the Baltimore Ravens, faced the most eight-defender fronts with 373 carries in the same timeframe. Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints ranked second with 226 carries, while Najee Harris and Christian McCaffrey tied for third place with 221 carries each.

☁️ Transforming Negative Thoughts: Strategies for a Healthier Mind

Negative thoughts can lead to issues such as social anxiety, depression, stress, and low self-esteem. To change these negative thoughts, it is essential to understand your current thought patterns and the problems they cause. Once you understand them, you can use strategies to change these thoughts or reduce their impact.

"Our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are all linked, so our thoughts impact how we feel and act. Even though we all have unhelpful thoughts from time to time, it’s important to know what to do when they appear so we don’t let them change the course of our day," explains Rachel Goldman, PhD, a psychologist and clinical assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine.

Therapy is often helpful for changing negative thoughts, but you can also learn how to change your thought patterns on your own. This article outlines some steps to help you shift negative thoughts:

  • Using mindfulness to build self-awareness

  • Identifying negative thoughts

  • Replacing negative thoughts with realistic, positive ones

  • Practicing acceptance rather than avoiding or denying negative thoughts

  • Learning to cope with feedback and criticism

  • Using a diary to track your thoughts

Combat Negative Thoughts With Mindfulness

Mindfulness, rooted in meditation, involves detaching yourself from your thoughts and emotions, observing them as an outsider. Practicing mindfulness can enhance your self-awareness and consciousness of your thoughts.

Mindfulness aims to change your relationship with your thoughts. Try to view your thoughts and feelings as objects that float past you, which you can observe or let pass by.

Become aware of how your thoughts impact your emotions and behaviors. Observe your thoughts and ask yourself if they are helpful, what purpose they serve, and how they make you feel.

Identify Your Negative Thoughts

As you observe your thoughts, work on identifying and labeling cognitive distortions and negativity. Common negative thinking patterns include:

  • Black-and-white thinking: Viewing yourself as a complete success or failure in every situation.

  • Jumping to conclusions: Making assumptions about what others are thinking or predicting negative outcomes without evidence.

  • Catastrophizing: Always assuming the worst possible outcome without considering more realistic possibilities.

  • Overgeneralization: Applying what happened in one experience to all future experiences, making negative experiences seem unavoidable.

  • Labeling: Negatively labeling yourself, which affects how you feel in various contexts (e.g., "bad at math").

  • "Should" statements: Focusing on what you "ought" to be doing, often leading to unrealistic expectations and feelings of defeat.

  • Emotional reasoning: Assuming something is true based on your emotional response to it (e.g., feeling nervous means you must be in danger).

  • Personalization and blame: Taking things personally and blaming yourself for things beyond your control.

Recap

There are many types of cognitive distortions contributing to negative thinking. Learning about these distortions and remembering that thoughts are not facts can help reduce their power over you.
