👮♂️Mentor Junior Police Academy Kicks Off with Enthusiasm and Team Spirit

Mentor Police Department
Monday marked the kickoff of the Mentor Junior Police Academy, and it was an eventful start! Despite the heat, our cadets displayed remarkable enthusiasm and dedication throughout the day. 🌞💪
The cadets were divided into three squads and began their day with a morning run and physical training. They engaged in fun icebreakers to foster camaraderie and get to know each other better. The cadets then learned essential first aid skills, gained insights into the complexities and dangers of conducting traffic stops, and received valuable training in defensive tactics.
To cap off the day, the squads participated in a spirited tug-of-war competition for team building, with even the instructors joining in on the fun!
Great job today, cadets! We’re eager to see what the rest of the week brings. Remember to stay hydrated and keep up the fantastic work!

😊 From Negative to Positive: The Impact of Healthy Thinking on Emotions
Research highlights that our thoughts significantly impact our moods and feelings. Contrary to popular belief, it's not events or situations that determine our mood but our interpretation of them. Two people can experience the same event and react differently due to their unique perspectives. This link between thinking and feeling has been recognized throughout history.
The positive takeaway is that since our thoughts influence our feelings, we can change how we feel by altering our thought patterns. Although thinking and feeling seem automatic, they can be improved with practice. By honing our thinking skills, we can better manage our emotions.
Negative moods such as sadness, anger, anxiety, and guilt often stem from inaccurate or irrational thoughts. Developing healthy thinking skills can transform these negative patterns into positive ones. Here are some strategies to practice:
Precision in Thinking: Instead of saying, "I always mess up," try thinking, "I didn’t get it right this time."
Avoid Absolutes: Steer clear of words like "always," "never," "should," and "must."
React to Reality: Focus on the actual situation rather than imagining the worst-case scenario.
Ask Instead of Assuming: Communicate directly instead of guessing or mind-reading about others' thoughts or needs.
Consider the Whole Picture: Balance negative details with positive aspects for a more realistic perspective.
Feelings Aren't Facts: Just because you feel a certain way doesn't mean it's true. Challenge inaccurate thoughts that lead to negative feelings.
Fairness is Subjective: Understand that fairness is influenced by individual needs and perspectives, which often differ.
It's Not Always About You: Avoid personalizing external events. Compare yourself to your own values and experiences rather than others.

⚾ Baseball Legend Willie Mays Passes Away at 93

Willie Mays
Willie Mays, revered as the greatest center fielder in baseball history, passed away on Tuesday afternoon at the age of 93, as announced by the San Francisco Giants.
Michael Mays, his son, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support his father received over the years, acknowledging the fans as the lifeblood of Willie Mays' career.
Nicknamed the "Say Hey Kid," Willie Mays left an indelible legacy in baseball. His defensive skill was immortalized by "The Catch" in the 1954 World Series. Over a career spanning more than two decades (1951-1973), primarily with the Giants, Mays achieved numerous accolades. He made 24 All-Star teams, won two National League MVP awards, and earned 12 Gold Gloves. He ranks sixth in all-time home runs (660), seventh in runs scored (2,068), 12th in RBIs (1,909), and 13th in hits (3,293).
Giants Chairman Greg Johnson reflected on Mays' passing, highlighting his exceptional talent, intelligence, showmanship, and joy. Johnson praised Mays as a "Forever Giant" and a legend whose impact extended beyond baseball, inspiring and influencing American culture.
Barry Bonds, Mays' godson and fellow Giants legend, shared his personal tribute on social media, crediting Mays for shaping his career and character.
