🍻 Exploring Ohio’s Top Craft Breweries: A Taste of Local Flavor

American beer drinkers now have a wealth of options, thanks to the craft beer industry's explosive growth. The market, once dominated by major brands, has diversified since the craft beer scene expanded sixfold between 2008 and 2016. Though independent production slightly cooled in 2023, it still produced 23.4 million barrels of beer, with craft beer's market share rising to 13.3%. The number of craft breweries in the U.S. surged from 3,108 in 2013 to 9,761 in 2023, marking a 214% increase in a decade.

Why the ongoing obsession? Beyond people's love for brew, beer has become a versatile beverage category. Craft breweries push beer production to its fullest potential, often ranking highly. Each sip tells a story, reflecting the unique history, climate, and resources of its origin. The people behind these beers, passionate about brewing, often turn their love into thriving local businesses, hiring diverse local talent.

This blend of America's beer enthusiasm and flavor possibilities has made beer a popular pastime and booming industry. Nearly 10,000 craft breweries exist across the country, each offering unique qualities, tours, tasting rooms, and gastropub fare. Some top-rated breweries are small and independent, only available in person, while others distribute nationwide and globally.

For those looking to discover top spots nearby, Stacker compiled a list of Ohio's highest-rated breweries using Tripadvisor data, considering overall ratings, reviews, and page views. 🏘️Transform Your Yard: How to Select the Perfect Plants for Your Landscape

Choosing the right plants for your home's landscape can transform your outdoor space into a vibrant and welcoming oasis. Here are practical ideas for homeowners to select the best plants for their landscape.

Understand Your Climate Zone

First, determine your climate zone, which will guide you in selecting plants that thrive in your region's weather conditions. Use the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map to identify your zone. This will help you avoid the disappointment of choosing plants that cannot survive in your area.

Assess Sunlight and Soil

Evaluate the amount of sunlight your yard receives throughout the day. Some plants need full sun, while others prefer shade or partial sunlight. Additionally, test your soil's pH and nutrient levels. Most garden centers offer kits to help you determine if your soil is acidic, alkaline, or neutral, guiding you in choosing compatible plants.

Consider Maintenance Levels

Select plants based on the amount of time you can dedicate to maintenance. If you prefer low-maintenance options, choose drought-resistant plants like succulents or native species, which require less watering and care. For those who enjoy gardening as a hobby, higher-maintenance plants like roses or vegetable gardens might be more suitable.

Plan for Year-Round Interest

Choose a variety of plants that provide year-round interest. Combine evergreens with perennials and annuals to ensure your garden remains attractive in all seasons. For example, plant spring bulbs like tulips for early color, summer flowers like marigolds, autumn foliage plants like maples, and winter evergreens like holly.

Focus on Plant Groupings

Group plants with similar water and sunlight needs together. This technique, known as hydrozoning, simplifies watering and maintenance while ensuring each plant thrives in its preferred environment.

Think About Growth and Space

Consider the mature size of each plant to avoid overcrowding. Ensure you have enough space for each plant to grow without overshadowing others. This planning will save you from future transplanting hassles and maintain a balanced, harmonious landscape.

By understanding your climate, assessing your yard's conditions, and planning thoughtfully, you can create a beautiful, sustainable landscape that enhances your home's curb appeal and personal enjoyment.

Bibee, Ramírez Lead Guardians Past Orioles for Sixth Consecutive Win

José Ramírez hit a decisive home run in the sixth inning, propelling the Cleveland Guardians to a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night, extending their winning streak to six games.

Tanner Bibee (6-2) delivered a solid performance, allowing only one earned run over six innings. The Guardians maintained their narrow lead without needing closer Emmanuel Clase. Instead, Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis managed the seventh and eighth innings, and Scott Barlow struck out all three batters in the ninth to earn his second save.

The Orioles, after a strong series against the Yankees, have now lost four consecutive games, a first for them this season. Rookie Cade Povich (0-2) had a rocky start but settled in until the sixth inning when Ramírez launched a 431-foot homer, breaking the 2-2 tie. This homer was Ramírez's 236th, tying him for third place on the Guardians' career home run list with Manny Ramirez.

This game marked the first time both teams had at least 20 games over .500 in a matchup. Cleveland (50-26) now leads the AL Central by eight games, while Baltimore (49-29) is two games behind the Yankees in the AL East.

Steven Kwan of Cleveland went 1 for 3, bringing his batting average to .389. The game saw early exchanges of runs with RBI singles from Ramírez and Baltimore's Ryan O'Hearn in the first inning. Bo Naylor's double in the second gave Cleveland a 2-1 lead, but Anthony Santander's sacrifice fly in the third tied it again. Santander also made a significant defensive play, throwing out Cleveland's Daniel Schneemann at home in the fourth inning.
