Notable cities along the Erie shore include Buffalo, Cleveland, and Toledo. Visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities such as fishing, bird-watching, and shipwreck diving.
The ranking process involved nominations from industry experts and 10 Best editors, followed by public voting. This collaborative approach ensured that the final list reflected the preferences of average lake-goers.
The top ten lakes in the poll are as follows:
Lake Erie – New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania
Lake Cumberland – Kentucky
Lake Austin – Texas
Lake Champlain – New York and Vermont
Lake Coeur d’Alene – Idaho
Big Bear Lake – California
Lake Tahoe – California and Nevada
Lake Michigan – Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin

🌯 Mentor-on-the-Lake Welcomes New Chipotle with Drive-Thru Pick-Up

We drove by on Friday, June 28th, and the restaurant was obviously not open yet. However, from what we’re hearing, the highly anticipated opening of a new Chipotle in Mentor-on-the-Lake has been set for TODAY, June 30. The restaurant, located at 5995 Andrews Road, the site of a former Burger King, will feature the brand’s signature Chipotlane, a drive-thru pick-up lane allowing guests to collect digital orders without leaving their cars.
Mentor-on-the-Lake Mayor David Eva expressed confidence in the city’s ability to manage the expected increase in traffic. He mentioned the advantage of the restaurant being situated at a traffic light intersection and assured that police officers would be available to manage any potential overflow of customers during the initial opening phase.
This will be the seventh Chipotle location in Lake County, joining over 3,400 other restaurants worldwide. Chipotle is currently hiring for the Mentor-on-the-Lake location, offering around 30 positions with competitive benefits. These benefits include a crew bonus, a debt-free college degree program, English as a second language courses, and access to mental healthcare for employees and their families.

🛣️ Experience the Magic of the Moonbow on the Trail to Cumberland Falls

Courtesy: Kentucky Tourism
Cumberland Falls, often referred to as the "Niagara of the South," is a stunning natural attraction measuring 125 feet wide and seven stories tall. While breathtaking during the day, the falls offer a unique spectacle a few nights each month—the "moonbow," also known as a white or lunar rainbow. This phenomenon, created by light refracting through water droplets, can be seen for two days around the full moon when the sky is clear.
What Makes It Great
Cumberland Falls is one of the few places in the world where a moonbow regularly occurs, and it's the only consistent moonbow in the western hemisphere. The 11-mile trail to the falls is part of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail in the Daniel Boone National Forest. The hike starts at the Mouth of Laurel boat ramp and follows the Cumberland River to the falls, which is the second-largest east of the Rocky Mountains.
The trailhead is in Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, which is open 24 hours to accommodate moonbow viewers. The best time to see the moonbow is two to three days before and after the full moon, about two hours after sunset. For safety, the trails are only open from dusk until dawn.
For those who prefer not to hike, there's a parking lot with direct access to the main falls overlook, providing the best vantage point for moonbow viewing.
Who Will Love It
The Moonbow Trail is ideal for seasoned hikers seeking a challenging adventure. However, there are shorter alternatives, such as the half-mile Cumberland Falls Trail, which ends at observation decks. The park also features 17 additional miles of trails and the DuPont Lodge, making it a great weekend getaway.
Directions, Parking & Regulations
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park does not charge an admission fee. From Corbin, take State Highway 727 to US-25W, which turns into KY-90 W, leading to the Mouth of Laurel boat ramp parking area about 14 miles away.
Pro Tips
Winter months produce the brightest moonbows, though spring and summer are more crowded.
Arrive early during warm months to secure parking.
For the best photos, use cameras with timed exposures and tripods.
The main overlook offers the best view of the moonbow.

⚾ Guardians Overpower Royals, Snap Three-Game Win Streak
The Cleveland Guardians three-game losing streak came to an end with a five-run win against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. The Royals were simply outplayed by the Guardians, who secured a 7-2 victory.
Kansas City’s starting pitcher, Cole Ragans, struggled early, allowing a run in the first inning after Steven Kwan and Josh Naylor both reached base. Naylor’s double brought Kwan home, setting the tone for the game. Although Ragans found his footing temporarily, a two-run homer by Cleveland's rookie Jhonkensy Noel in the fourth inning extended their lead, marking Noel’s second home run in his short Major League career.
The Royals initially kept pace with solo home runs from Pasquantino and Massey in the first and second innings, respectively. However, their offense stalled as Cleveland's pitcher Tanner Bibee delivered a strong performance, holding Kansas City to four hits over six innings.
Cleveland's offense continued to build momentum, adding three runs in the fifth inning. Jose Ramirez doubled in a run, Naylor contributed another RBI double, and Andres Gimenez's single brought in the final run of the inning. Ramirez sealed the game with a home run in the seventh inning, marking his second consecutive game with a homer.
Relief pitcher Angel Zerpa struggled to contain the Guardians after replacing Ragans, who exited after 4.2 innings with five earned runs. The Royals' bullpen managed to hold off further damage, but the offense couldn’t rally.
With this loss, the Royals' record stands at 46-39, while the Guardians improve to 52-29. The teams will conclude their four-game series on Sunday afternoon, with Kansas City aiming for a series win. The game is set to begin at 2:10 p.m. ET.
