🚨Mentor Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase and Alleged Threats

Lake County deputies arrested a 41-year-old man on Tuesday after he allegedly threatened a woman. The suspect, Justin White from Mentor, was involved in an incident that began with reports of a driver waving a gun and speeding at 100 MPH on State Route 2.

Authorities tracked the vehicle to Hale Road in Painesville Township, where they found White armed with a loaded gun. During the confrontation, White allegedly rammed his car into another vehicle owned by a woman with whom he had a previous relationship and made threats to harm her.

Deputies ordered White to drop his weapon, and he was subsequently taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including weapons offenses, attempted felonious assault, vandalism, and operating a vehicle under the influence of narcotics. White is currently held at the Lake County Jail.

🚨Ohio Faces Challenges in Marijuana DUI Testing: Expert Advice and Training Key

Ohio law enforcement faces challenges in testing for DUIs involving marijuana, given the difficulties in determining when users are safe to drive. According to state law, a driver is over the legal limit if their urine contains 10 nanograms or more per milliliter of marijuana concentration, or 2 nanograms or more per milliliter in their blood. The best advice from law enforcement remains clear: if you use marijuana, don’t drive.

Testing for cannabis DUI is notably different from alcohol DUI testing. Shane Brandel, the chief of police in Decatur, Illinois, explained that Illinois, where recreational marijuana has been legal since 2020, requires specialized training for officers. This training, often lasting a week or more, qualifies officers as drug recognition experts (DREs). Additionally, some officers are trained phlebotomists, capable of drawing blood samples if necessary.

In Illinois, suspected cannabis DUI drivers can be tested on the scene by trained officers or at a hospital. Brandel advises Ohio law enforcement to invest in proper training for their officers, emphasizing that investigating cannabis DUIs requires distinct expertise compared to alcohol DUIs.

Jeralyn Shimell from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) noted that while the organization doesn't take a stance on recreational marijuana, they emphasize the importance of not driving while impaired by any substance. MADD's message remains consistent: avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing substances.

Tonight the Sunday edition of Mentor Rocks will bring LeAnn Rimes to the Amp’s stage in Mentor. The evening will start with an acoustic set by James Margiotta from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with food and beverage service beginning at 5:00 PM.

Country music icon LeAnn Rimes is set to perform at 7:30 PM. This performance is part of the Mentor Rocks summer concert series and is sponsored by Tour Lake County.

Rimes, a celebrated international artist, has achieved multi-platinum status and is an award-winning songwriter. She has sold over 48 million records worldwide and has an impressive collection of awards, including 2 Grammy® Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, 2 World Music Awards, 3 Academy of Country Music Awards, 2 Country Music Association Awards, and a Dove Award. Rimes made history by becoming the youngest solo artist to win a Grammy® at age 14 and the first country artist to win "Artist of the Year" at the Billboard Music Awards at age 15.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of food from local vendors and a selection of beers and wines. The event offers lawn seating, so guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. While outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed, outside alcohol, glass containers, and pets are not permitted on the main amphitheater grounds.

The Philadelphia Phillies dominated the Cleveland Guardians last night with an emphatic 8-0 victory. The Phillies showcased their power, hitting three home runs in a decisive 4th inning. Carlos Carrasco, who pitched effectively for the first three innings, faltered in the 4th and was taken out of the game in the forth, responsible for 6 of the Phillies runs.
