📰 AC/DC Tribute Band “Dirty Deeds” Takes the Stage Tonight to Rock Mentor

An all-star cast, assembled from former members of several popular AC/DC tribute bands, is bringing the ultimate AC/DC tribute show to new heights. The DIRTY DEEDS concert experience offers an unparalleled recreation of AC/DC’s music and stage show. With two high-energy sets, exciting stage props, and non-stop action, this tribute show is second to none.

The first set is dedicated to the Bon Scott era, featuring spot-on performances by a Bon Scott look-alike who perfectly captures Bon’s voice. An Angus Young impersonator delivers the accuracy and wild energy of a young Angus, mirroring the album versions of “It’s A Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll),” complete with bagpipes played by the Bon Scott impersonator, John Welch. The attention to detail in recreating the authentic AC/DC experience is evident in every aspect of the performance.

The second set pays tribute to the Brian Johnson era, keeping the energy high as DIRTY DEEDS rifles through one iconic AC/DC hit after another. The action is non-stop, ensuring the crowd remains on their feet, singing along to every song. Each band member meticulously portrays their respective characters, studying the look, moves, instruments, and sound of their famous counterparts.

Attendees of the upcoming event can look forward to not only fantastic music but also a variety of food from local vendors and a selection of beers and wines. The venue offers lawn seating, so guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs for comfort. While outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed, outside alcohol, glass containers, and pets are not permitted within the main amphitheater grounds.

💰Ohio Extends Tax-Free Holiday: Bigger Savings from July 30 to August 8

Ohioans have enjoyed nearly a decade of tax-free weekends, and the 2024 Ohio sales tax holiday promises even greater savings. This year’s event will extend from 12 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, to 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, providing an extended period for shoppers to benefit from tax exemptions on a wider range of items.

Traditionally held over the first weekend of August, the sales tax holiday has been a boon for back-to-school shoppers, applying to clothing priced at $75 or less and school supplies priced at $20 or less. However, this year’s holiday period offers even more substantial benefits. The price limits on tax-exempt items have been raised significantly, with eligible items now capped at $500.

The tax exemption applies on an item-by-item basis, with no limit on the total purchase amount. Online sales also qualify if the purchase is made and accepted for immediate shipment during the exemption period.

Exceptions to the tax holiday include alcoholic beverages, marijuana products, motor vehicles, services normally subject to sales tax, tobacco and vapor products, and watercraft or outboard motors requiring a title.

🍔Melt Bar and Grilled will close Akron (August 25) and Mentor (August 11) locations

Melt Bar and Grilled, a popular eatery in Northeast Ohio, will permanently close its Akron and Mentor locations next month. Owner Matt Fish announced the closures, stating that operating multiple locations is not sustainable for the future of the business. The Akron location at 3921 Medina Road will close on August 25, and the Mentor location at 7289 Mentor Ave will close on August 11.

In his statement, Fish explained that the closures are part of a strategic move to focus on the original Melt Bar and Grilled location in Lakewood, which will undergo significant renovations and updates. The Lakewood location will temporarily close from September 2 to September 8 for these improvements, which include enhancements to the menu, service, and décor.

Despite the closures, the Melt University location at Case Western Reserve University and the Melt Ballpark location at Progressive Field will remain open. Fish expressed his gratitude to customers for their support over the years and assured that gift cards and loyalty points would be honored at all locations through August 2024 and at the renovated Lakewood location thereafter.

🏘️Modern Plumbing Innovations: Save Water and Energy at Home

In today’s world, conserving water and energy has become a priority for many homeowners. Modern plumbing technologies offer efficient solutions that not only reduce utility bills but also contribute to environmental sustainability. Here’s a look at some of the innovative ways you can save water and energy with the latest plumbing advancements.

Low-Flow Fixtures

One of the simplest and most effective ways to save water is by installing low-flow fixtures. These include low-flow toilets, showerheads, and faucets. Low-flow toilets use significantly less water per flush compared to traditional models, while low-flow showerheads and faucets maintain adequate pressure while using less water. By switching to these fixtures, you can reduce your household water usage by up to 50%.

Tankless Water Heaters

Traditional water heaters keep a large tank of water hot at all times, consuming a lot of energy. Tankless water heaters, on the other hand, heat water on demand. This means they only use energy when you need hot water, resulting in substantial energy savings. Additionally, tankless water heaters provide an endless supply of hot water, so you never run out during a shower.

Smart Irrigation Systems

For those with lawns and gardens, smart irrigation systems can be a game-changer. These systems use sensors and weather data to optimize watering schedules, ensuring your plants get the right amount of water without waste. Smart irrigation systems can adjust watering based on soil moisture levels and weather forecasts, significantly reducing water usage.

Water-Saving Appliances

Modern dishwashers and washing machines are designed to use less water and energy while still providing excellent cleaning performance. Look for appliances with the Energy Star label, which indicates they meet strict efficiency criteria. Using these appliances can lead to significant savings on your water and energy bills.

Leak Detection Technology

Leaks can waste a surprising amount of water and lead to costly damage if not addressed promptly. Modern leak detection systems use sensors and smart technology to alert you to leaks as soon as they occur. Some advanced systems can even shut off the water supply automatically to prevent damage.

Greywater Recycling Systems

Greywater recycling systems collect and treat wastewater from sinks, showers, and washing machines for reuse in irrigation and toilet flushing. By recycling greywater, you can reduce your overall water consumption and make your home more eco-friendly.

Conclusion

Investing in modern plumbing technologies is a smart way to save water and energy, reduce your utility bills, and contribute to a more sustainable future. From low-flow fixtures and tankless water heaters to smart irrigation and leak detection systems, these advancements offer practical and efficient solutions for today’s environmentally conscious homeowners. Make the switch today and enjoy the benefits of a more efficient and eco-friendly home.

Guardians Beat Tigers 8-4 in Detroit, Ramirez Ties Belle’s Home Run Record, Cleveland Trades for Lane Thomas

The Guardians and Tigers continue their intense rivalry with a short two-game series at Comerica Park, marking their tenth meeting in just 23 days. The Guardians triumphed 8-4 on Monday and also acquired a new outfielder through a trade.

As the MLB trade deadline looms on Tuesday night, the game took on added significance amidst the flurry of league activity. The Guardians are in search of additional batting power and starting pitching support.

In their latest game, the Guardians secured an 8-4 victory over the Tigers. Scott Barlow managed to escape a bases-loaded situation in the eighth inning, while Hunter Gaddis gave up a two-run home run to Wenceel Perez in the ninth.

Dillon Dingler, a Jackson High School graduate, recorded his first career hit in the major leagues with an RBI double to left field in the seventh inning, bringing the score to 8-1. This hit also ended Tanner Bibee's outing with no outs in the seventh. Gio Urshela added a sacrifice fly, narrowing the Guardians' lead to 8-2.

Jose Ramirez had a stellar night, hitting multiple home runs and tying Albert Belle for second place on the franchise's all-time home run list. Ramirez’s 25th career multi-homer game, and his second this year, put the Guardians ahead 8-0.

Bo Naylor extended Cleveland's lead to 7-0 with a three-run homer in the sixth inning, marking his seventh home run of a generally lackluster offensive season.

Tanner Bibee delivered an impressive performance, pitching five scoreless innings against the Tigers, allowing just two hits and no walks, helping maintain a 4-0 lead.

During the game, the Guardians announced a trade with the Washington Nationals for outfielder Lane Thomas.
