🌉Munson Road Overpass Reopens After Bridge Maintenance Project

The Munson Road/State Route 2 overpass has officially reopened to traffic after the completion of a significant bridge maintenance project. The project, which involved extensive repairs and improvements to ensure the safety and longevity of the overpass, was finalized on schedule. With the work complete, the route is now fully operational, allowing for a smoother flow of traffic in the area. Commuters and local drivers can once again utilize the overpass, which serves as a crucial connection point for the community.

📰 Ohio Extends SNAP Replacement Window for Storm-Hit Areas

Ohio residents impacted by last week’s severe storms now have additional time to request replacements for food lost due to extended power outages, according to a recent announcement by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS). The storms, which hit northern Ohio last Tuesday, left thousands without electricity for several days.

Affected SNAP recipients in the counties of Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage, Summit, and Trumbull may now apply for replacement benefits for food purchased with their SNAP benefits that was spoiled during the outages. Previously, the window to apply for replacement benefits was just 10 days, but a federal waiver secured by ODJFS has extended this period to 30 days.

To be eligible, residents must have lost power for four or more hours, and the value of the replacement benefits cannot exceed the household's monthly SNAP allotment. Applicants will need to provide verification of the power outage, such as screenshots of news reports, text alerts, email notifications, or outage maps specific to their area.

The extended application period aims to help those hit hardest by the recent weather events, ensuring that impacted households have the chance to recover some of their lost resources.

⚾ Brewers Snap Guardians' Streak with Adames' Homer and Civale's Gem

The Milwaukee Brewers secured a 5-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, snapping Cleveland's five-game winning streak in a showdown of division leaders on Friday. Willy Adames powered the Brewers with a three-run homer in the first inning, setting the tone for the game. Aaron Civale, who pitched six shutout innings, stifled his former team with a dominant performance, allowing only four hits and striking out four. Civale, who was traded from Cleveland to Tampa Bay and then to Milwaukee, has found recent success with the Brewers, improving to 2-0 with a 1.46 ERA in his last two starts.

Adames' homer, his franchise-record 10th three-run shot of the season, came close to winning a lucky fan a new truck in a promotional giveaway but narrowly missed hitting the target. The Brewers extended their lead to 5-0 by the fourth inning with contributions from Garrett Mitchell, Joey Ortiz, and Brice Turang. Cleveland, known for their late-game comebacks, rallied in the eighth inning with two home runs—José Ramírez hitting a two-run blast and David Fry adding a solo shot—but fell short as Brewers reliever Joel Payamps secured the win in the ninth. Gavin Williams (2-5) started the game for Cleveland and got the loss.
