🛍️ Village Peddler Festival Continues Today with Over 175 Vendors and Live Music

The Village Peddler Festival in Kirtland continues today, Sunday, September 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This long-standing event, established in 1982, has been a beloved tradition for over three decades, offering a charming American marketplace experience with over 175 vendors and live music for attendees in Northeastern Ohio.

This year's festival is under new management with Holly and Kelly at the helm. Both are seasoned crafters with over 35 years of combined experience in the art and craft show circuit around Northeast Ohio, including the Village Peddler Festival. They aim to maintain the festival's high standards while introducing some new elements, ensuring that visitors enjoy both familiar and fresh experiences.

The festival takes place at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, a working farm and education center that spans 235 acres. This picturesque setting features gardens, ponds, and animals, providing a perfect backdrop for the festival's offerings. While the Farmpark welcomes visitors, it is important to note that pets are not allowed at the event.

📰 Lakeland Community College Achieves Dual 'Military Friendly' Honors for 2024-2025

Lakeland Community College in Kirtland has been recognized as a 2024-2025 "Military Friendly School," earning two notable distinctions: the Military Friendly Gold School and Military Friendly Spouse School designations. This recognition is awarded by VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that acknowledges institutions providing exceptional support and recruitment for military-connected students and their families.

The college's Veterans Center has played a significant role in achieving these honors, marking the first time Lakeland has earned dual designations and its first "gold" status. This gold designation places Lakeland in the top 10 percent of schools recognized for excellence in serving military students. The Veterans Center Manager expressed pride in the recognition, emphasizing the college's dedication to supporting not only student veterans but also military families.

The Military Friendly ratings are determined through a comprehensive survey process that evaluates various data points to ensure institutions are meeting high standards of support for military students.

🧳 Family Travel Made Easy: Pro Tips for Packing Efficiently

Packing for a family trip can often feel like a daunting task. With everyone needing different things, it's easy to overpack and end up lugging around heavy, cumbersome suitcases. However, with a bit of strategy and some innovative packing tips, you can bring everything you need without the extra bulk.

Choose the Right Luggage: Start with the right luggage for your family's needs. Lightweight, durable suitcases with four wheels make navigating airports and hotels much easier. Consider luggage that offers ample space and smart compartments. For families, opting for medium-sized suitcases rather than one large bag can be more manageable. Additionally, look for bags with expandable sections, allowing some flexibility for packing extra items or bringing home souvenirs.

Utilize Packing Cubes: Packing cubes are a game-changer for organizing your suitcase and maximizing space. Assign a different color cube to each family member for easy identification. These cubes help compress clothing and keep items neatly separated, so you can avoid rummaging through the entire suitcase to find a pair of socks. You can also use smaller cubes for organizing toiletries, electronics, and other small essentials, keeping everything tidy and in its place.

Plan Outfits in Advance: One of the most effective ways to minimize luggage is to plan outfits for each day in advance. Choose versatile clothing that can be mixed and matched. Opt for neutral colors and pieces that can be layered to adapt to different weather conditions. By planning a capsule wardrobe, you can significantly reduce the number of clothing items you need to pack. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast for your destination to pack appropriately.

Roll, Don’t Fold: Rolling clothes instead of folding them not only saves space but also reduces wrinkles. This method works especially well for T-shirts, jeans, and other casual wear. For bulkier items like jackets or sweaters, use compression bags to suck out the extra air, making them more compact.

Pack Multi-Use Items: Bring items that serve multiple purposes to cut down on what you need to carry. A scarf can double as a blanket on a chilly plane ride, and a tote bag can be used as a beach bag or for carrying snacks during sightseeing.

By following these innovative packing tips, families can travel more efficiently, carrying everything they need without the stress of overpacking.

Lane Thomas Shines in Guardians' 6-1 Victory Over Tampa Bay

The Cleveland Guardians secured a decisive 6-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Saturday, with standout performances both on the field and at the plate. Lane Thomas was a key player in the game, showcasing his defensive skills and offensive power. In a crucial moment, he threw out a base runner from center field, halting a potential scoring opportunity for Tampa Bay. Offensively, Thomas had an impressive night, going 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.

In the 8th inning, Jose Ramirez contributed to the Guardians' offensive surge by hitting his 35th home run of the season. This blast came immediately after Thomas' home run, resulting in back-to-back homers that further cemented Cleveland's lead.

On the pitching side, Joey Cantillo delivered an excellent performance for Cleveland. He pitched 5 solid innings, allowing only 3 hits and no earned runs, while striking out 6 and walking just 1. The bullpen maintained this momentum, pitching the remaining 4 innings and conceding just 1 unearned run on 3 hits.

With this win, the Guardians look to continue their momentum as they face the Devil Rays again on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. Eastern Time.
