🐶 Senior Pet Care: Recognizing Signs of Aging in Pets

As our beloved companions enter their golden years, it's crucial to be aware of the signs of aging and provide them with the care they need. Just like humans, pets experience physical and behavioral changes as they grow older. By recognizing these signs early, we can ensure our furry friends remain comfortable and healthy in their senior years.

Physical Signs

  1. Reduced mobility: Your pet may have difficulty getting up, climbing stairs, or jumping onto furniture.

  2. Changes in appetite: Senior pets might eat less or become pickier about their food.

  3. Weight changes: Unexplained weight loss or gain can be a sign of underlying health issues.

  4. Dental problems: Bad breath, loose teeth, or difficulty eating can indicate dental issues.

  5. Vision or hearing loss: Your pet may bump into objects or become less responsive to sounds.

  6. Coat and skin changes: The fur may become thinner or grayer, and the skin may appear less elastic.

Behavioral Signs

  1. Increased sleep: Older pets tend to sleep more and have less energy for play.

  2. Confusion or disorientation: Your pet may seem lost in familiar surroundings or have trouble recognizing family members.

  3. Changes in bathroom habits: Incontinence or difficulty using the litter box can occur.

  4. Increased vocalization: Some pets become more vocal as they age, especially at night.

  5. Anxiety or irritability: Your pet may become more sensitive to noise or changes in routine.

Regular veterinary check-ups are essential for senior pets. Your vet can help detect age-related issues early and provide appropriate care. At home, ensure your pet has a comfortable sleeping area, easy access to food and water, and modified exercise routines to suit their changing needs.

Remember, with proper care and attention, our senior pets can continue to lead happy, fulfilling lives. Cherish these golden years with your faithful companion, providing them with the love and care they deserve.

Guardians Secure Playoff Berth with Rocchio’s Walk-Off Single Against Twins

Josh Naylor contributed two solo home runs, achieving his first 30-homer season. Carlos Correa stood out for the Twins with four RBIs, extending his hitting streak to 16 games. Lake County quickly responded in the bottom of the fifth, with Jonah Advincula's home run tying the game at 1-1.

🏈 Lake Catholic Aims to Extend Winning Streak Against Kenston

Kenston is set to face Lake Catholic in a nonconference game TONIGHT, September 19, at Jerome T. Osborne Stadium starting at 7pm. Lake Catholic, currently boasting an impressive 4-0 record, will host the 2-2 Kenston team.

Lake Catholic dominated Kenston in last year's encounter with a 49-14 win, where quarterback Frankie Trinetti threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns. This season, Lake Catholic's offense continues to be in top form. Trinetti completed all 10 of his passes last week against South, totaling 208 yards and three touchdowns. Their receiving lineup, featuring Ace Peterlin, Cross Nimmo, Patrick Radigan, and D.J. Sears, poses a significant challenge for any defense. Additionally, Jimmy Gibbons has emerged as a reliable running option for the Cougars.

Kenston, coming off a tough 53-35 loss to VASJ, has shown offensive promise. Lucas Kaltenbach threw for 184 yards last week, with Tymir Cardona delivering another standout performance. Running back Cohen Clark has also been a key contributor, accumulating nearly 400 yards over three games. However, Kenston's defense remains a concern after conceding 53 points last week.

The critical focus of this matchup will be defense. Both teams will need to play good defensive in order to secure a win. Lake Catholic is currently ranked third in Division IV, Region 13, while Kenston stands at 13th in Division III, Region 9. The Bombers are in a challenging phase of their schedule, with games against VASJ, Lake Catholic, and next week's game against Chardon, the WRC favorite.
