๐ŸŽ Journey Through Farming History at Lake Metroparks' Horsepower Weekend

Lake County Farmpark - Horsepower Weekend

Lake Metroparks Farmpark is inviting visitors to take a journey through the history of farming and automobiles during their Horsepower Weekend, happening on September 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event offers a unique experience to see how agricultural technology has evolved, starting with animal-powered farming techniques and progressing to modern machinery, all the way to classic muscle cars.

On September 28, the focus will be on agricultural fieldwork, with demonstrations showing the progression from draft animal power to state-of-the-art tractors. Visitors will witness a variety of farming techniques and machinery in action and even have the chance to try their hand at plowing with Farmpark's draft teams.

Throughout both days, the event will feature antique tractor displays, equipment demonstrations like corn grinding, and other regular weekend activities at the Farmpark. Visitors will also find plenty of opportunities to snap photos with antique tractors and enjoy the scenic farm landscapes.

The excitement continues with additional fall activities, such as navigating a corn maze, enjoying apple slushies, or simply relaxing and taking in the farm atmosphere.

For car enthusiasts, the weekend culminates with the fifth annual Horsepower Weekend Truck & Car Show on September 29, from noon to 4 p.m. This segment invites owners of cars and trucks from any year to display their vehicles. The public will vote for their favorites across various categories.

Horsepower Weekend is included with Farmpark admission, which ranges from $7 to $9. Admission is free for Farmpark members, children under 2, and active military personnel and their families. To participate or for more information, contact Nicole Gruden at 440-256-2122, ext. 3037 or [email protected].

๐Ÿ“‰ Fed Rate Cut Sparks Debate: Is Now the Best Time to Sell Your Home?

Federal Reserve Cuts Interest Rates: Is Now the Right Time to Sell Your Home?

The Federal Reserve recently cut the federal funds rate for the first time in four years, sparking questions about whether itโ€™s a good time to sell a home. While mortgage rates have slightly decreased, various factors such as inflation, high house prices, and low inventory are influencing homeowners' decisions.

Current Market Challenges

Mortgage interest rates peaked at 8% in October 2023 but have since settled in the 6% range. Although these high rates might deter some sellers, low inventory levels and a competitive market may yield greater profits for those willing to sell. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that home sales have dropped from 6.12 million in 2021 to 4 million in 2023 but expect a recovery by 2025.

Rising Home Prices

Home prices have surged by 50% since 2019, with the median price reaching $426,900 in 2024. This makes 81% of consumers hesitant to buy or sell, even as inflation slows. However, lower interest rates might attract more buyers, leading to increased home prices.

Benefits of Selling Now

  1. Interest Rate Cuts: Falling rates boost buyer demand, giving sellers stronger negotiation power.

  2. Real Estate Commission Changes: Recent adjustments in agent compensation may lower the cost of selling.

  3. Favorable Market Conditions: Tight inventory could lead to competitive offers and higher selling prices.

Reasons to Wait

  1. Inflation: Despite rate cuts, inflation remains a concern that could impact selling expenses.

  2. Recent Refinancing: If you recently refinanced, selling might not be financially beneficial.

  3. Need for Repairs: Major repairs might be necessary before selling for a good price.

While lower interest rates might make selling your home more appealing, it's crucial to consider your financial situation, market trends, and any potential costs before making a decision. Carefully assess whether current conditions align with your goals, as timing and preparedness can significantly impact your sale's success.

โšพ Cardinals Edge Guardians 2-1 as Nootbaar Scores on Wild Pitch

The St. Louis Cardinals secured a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, thanks to a dramatic sequence where Lars Nootbaar scored the go-ahead run from second base on a wild pitch. Andre Pallante delivered an impressive performance, allowing just one hit over seven innings. The sole hit Pallante allowed came in the sixth inning, but he maintained control, walking two and striking out three.

Nolan Arenado tied the game with a two-out RBI single, setting up Nootbaar's decisive run after he reached base on a hit-by-pitch. The Cardinals' bullpen was solid, with Andrew Kittredge and Ryan Helsley maintaining the lead in the final two innings. Helsley earned his league-leading 47th save.

For the Guardians, Gavin Williams pitched well, allowing only one run on four hits across 5 2/3 innings. Myles Straw scored the Guardians' only run after stealing second and third before a squeeze bunt by Austin Hedges brought him home.

Cleveland heads home now where they will kick off a five-game homestand, with the first two games being against Cincinnati.

๐Ÿˆ Browns Beat Themselves, Lose to NY Giants at Home 21-15

The New York Giants secured a hard-fought 21-15 victory over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, improving their record to 1-2. Quarterback Daniel Jones delivered an impressive performance, completing 24 of 34 passes for 236 yards and throwing two touchdown passes to rookie Malik Nabers. Nabers, just 21 years old, caught eight passes for 78 yards, including a spectacular touchdown that made him the youngest wide receiver in NFL history to record two TD receptions.

The Giantsโ€™ defense was a key factor in the win, consistently pressuring Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Cleveland faced eight sacks and dealt with significant injuries to their offensive line, including starting left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. and right guard Wyatt Teller. These injuries forced a complete shuffle of their line, hindering Watsonโ€™s performance as he finished 21 of 37 for 196 yards and two touchdowns.

Despite an early setback when the Browns took a 7-0 lead just 11 seconds into the game following a kickoff fumble recovered by Amari Cooper, the Giants quickly regained control. Jones was nearly flawless in the first half, completing 17 of 19 passes and leading a 93-yard drive that culminated in a touchdown pass to Nabers, pushing the score to 21-7 by halftime.

The Browns rallied in the fourth quarter, with Watson connecting for a second touchdown to Cooper. However, New Yorkโ€™s defense held strong, forcing a fumble from running back Jerome Ford and stopping the Browns on two crucial fourth-down attempts in the final four minutes. Special teams had mixed results for the Giants, with newly signed kicker Greg Joseph missing a 48-yard field goal late in the game that could have extended their lead.

Looking ahead, the Browns prepare to travel to Las Vegas for their next matchup on Sunday.
