🏈 Lake Catholic Cougars Roar to Victory, Remain Undefeated

The Lake Catholic Cougars continued their impressive run this season, securing a dominant 35-3 victory over the Holy Name Green Wave in Thursday night's high school football showdown. The win propels the Cougars to a perfect 6-0 record, solidifying their position as a formidable force in the league.

From the opening whistle, the Cougars established their dominance on both sides of the ball. Running back Jimmy Gibbons drew first blood, punching in a 7-yard touchdown run up the middle to give Lake Catholic an early 7-0 lead.

The Cougars' air attack soon took flight, with quarterback Frankie Trinetti connecting with receiver Ace Peterlin for a spectacular 20-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter. Peterlin's determination was on full display as he fought his way into the end zone, extending the lead to 14-0.

While Holy Name managed to get on the board with a field goal, it would prove to be their only score of the night. The Cougars' defense, which has been a cornerstone of their success this season, once again showcased its prowess by limiting the Green Wave to just three points.

The Trinetti-Peterlin connection continued to sizzle, with the duo linking up for two more touchdowns before halftime. A precise 5-yard strike was followed not soon after by an almost identical scoring play in the closing seconds of the second quarter, pushing the score to a commanding 28-3 at the break.

To cap off the scoring, Gibbons found paydirt once more, this time breaking free for an 18-yard touchdown run straight through the heart of the Holy Name defense.

The final score of 35-3 reflects the Cougars' all-around excellence. Quarterback Frankie Trinetti's pinpoint accuracy, Ace Peterlin's sure hands and playmaking ability, and Jimmy Gibbons' powerful running were complemented by a suffocating defense that has become the hallmark of this Lake Catholic team.

As the Cougars move to 6-0 on the season, they continue to build momentum and prove themselves as serious contenders. With both their offense and defense firing on all cylinders, Lake Catholic is quickly becoming a team to beat.
