š¶āāļø 6 Ways to Slow Down Muscle Loss as You Ages
As we grow older, muscle loss becomes a natural part of aging. Muscle mass not only enhances physical appearance but also plays a vital role in maintaining strength, balance, and overall health. Unfortunately, muscle mass can start to decline as early as your 30s, with a more rapid loss occurring in your 60s unless proactively addressed. While aging makes muscle loss inevitable, there are proven ways to slow down this process and preserve muscle strength. Here are six essential strategies to help maintain muscle mass as you age.
Exercise Regularly
Staying active is critical for muscle health. A combination of resistance training and cardiovascular exercise can counteract age-related muscle decline. Strength training, in particular, is a powerful tool to build and maintain muscle mass, even in elderly individuals. A routine of at least three days per week of resistance training, complemented by aerobic activities like walking or cycling, can slow muscle loss and improve overall fitness.Boost Protein Intake
Protein is crucial for muscle repair and growth. As we age, protein consumption tends to drop, particularly in older women. A diet rich in high-quality proteināsuch as eggs, fish, chicken, and plant-based sourcesāsupports muscle maintenance. Experts recommend spreading protein intake evenly across meals and consuming extra protein after exercise to support muscle recovery.Consider Collagen Supplements
Collagen plays an essential role in muscle repair and joint health. Some supplements, such as Multi Collagen Advanced Muscle, can support muscle recovery and provide amino acids necessary for muscle growth. Collagen supplements can be a valuable addition to a diet focused on preventing muscle loss.Balance Hormones
For women, hormone fluctuations during menopause can accelerate muscle loss. Regular exercise, particularly resistance training, can help mitigate the effects of hormone changes on muscle health. Maintaining hormonal balance through physical activity and a healthy lifestyle can preserve muscle mass in middle-aged and older women.Adopt an Anti-Inflammatory Diet
An inflammation-fighting diet, rich in whole foods like fish, nuts, seeds, and olive oil, can help support muscle health. Minimizing processed foods and refined sugars while increasing your intake of Mediterranean-style foods can reduce inflammation and promote muscle preservation.Limit Alcohol Consumption
Excessive alcohol consumption can weaken muscles and deplete the body of essential nutrients. Reducing alcohol intake not only aids in muscle recovery but also supports overall health, improving outcomes for the liver, heart, and muscles.
By incorporating these six strategies into your daily life, you can help maintain muscle mass, enhance strength, and enjoy better health well into older age.

ā¾ Yankees Take Command of ALCS with 6-3 Victory, Judge Homers in Game 2
The New York Yankees strengthened their grip on the American League Championship Series Tuesday night, defeating the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 to take a commanding 2-0 series lead. Aaron Judge delivered his first home run of the postseason, a decisive two-run blast in the seventh inning that extended the Yankees' lead to 6-2 and effectively sealed the victory. The Yankees' slugger finished with three RBIs on the night, despite going just 1-for-3 at the plate.
The Yankees jumped on Guardians starter Tanner Bibee early, forcing Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt into an unusual second-inning decision. After the Yankees loaded the bases, Vogt intentionally walked Juan Soto to face Judge and pulled Bibee after just four outs. The move limited the damage to a sacrifice fly, but forced Cleveland into an unplanned bullpen game that ultimately required eight pitchers.
Yankees starter Gerrit Cole worked through trouble, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning before being lifted in the fifth after Cleveland cut the lead to 3-2. The Yankees' bullpen proved up to the task, holding the Guardians in check until JosĆ© RamĆrez's solo home run in the ninth provided the final margin. Gleyber Torres sparked the Yankees' offense from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Clay Holmes earned the win with two-thirds of an inning of shutout relief.
The series now moves to Cleveland for Game 3 on Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 5:08 p.m. ET. The Guardians find themselves in must-win territory, needing a victory to avoid falling into a 3-0 series deficit. The one silver lining for Cleveland: Bibee's early exit after just 39 pitches could allow him to return sooner than expected if the Guardians can extend the series.
