๐ Trick or Treat Fun Awaits at Pioneer Village This Saturday

This Saturday, October 26th, the Lake County History Center invites families to enjoy a fun-filled Trick or Treat event at the Pioneer Village from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The evening promises a festive yet not-too-scary atmosphere, perfect for children to collect candy and participate in a variety of games while exploring the charming village. Guests can also purchase snacks or dinner inside the Event Barn and take in some dazzling Halloween displays. In addition, children will have the chance to pick out prizes in the Funky Pumpkin Patch.
Presale tickets are just $2 per child, while tickets at the door are $5 (cash only). The event will take place rain or shine, and walk-ups are welcome. To save on fees, tickets can be purchased directly at the History Center or by calling 440-639-2945.
๐ฐ Avery Dennison Expands in Painesville, Creating Jobs and Boosting Production
Avery Dennison has expanded its Chester Street campus in Painesville, adding a 32,000-square-foot facility to its Performance Tapes division. The new space, which began production in August, will create 36 jobs, 25 of which are already filled. The facility will focus on manufacturing pressure-sensitive specialty tapes for industries like automotive and construction. Supported by local partnerships, the company held a ribbon-cutting in September 2024 and is seeking to fill additional positions while providing robust training opportunities.

๐ฃ Step Up Your Foot Care: Essential Tips for Healthy, Happy Feet
Your feet are vital, supporting your body through about 5,000 steps each day, or roughly 2.5 miles. Often neglected, they bear weight and face stress from tight shoes, standing for long periods, and everyday activities. Here's how to give them the care they deserve.
Basic Care
To maintain healthy feet:
Inspect them daily for cuts, swelling, or infections.
Clean them with warm water but avoid soaking, as it can dry out the skin.
Moisturize regularly, but not between the toes, to avoid infections.
Rotate shoes and avoid overly tight footwear, flip-flops, or flats with inadequate support.
Keep toenails trimmed straight across to prevent ingrown nails.
Corns and Calluses
Corns and calluses are thick skin patches caused by friction or pressure. While they usually go away on their own, you can speed up recovery with thicker socks, pumice stones, or salicylic acid treatments. People with diabetes should seek medical advice before attempting home treatments.
Sweaty Feet and Foot Odor
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can lead to discomfort, infections, and odor. Combat sweat by washing daily, wearing moisture-wicking socks, and using foot powder. If symptoms persist, a doctor might recommend antiperspirants or more advanced treatments. To control foot odor, change socks and shoes frequently, avoid synthetic materials, and try foot soaks with tea or vinegar.
Warts and Athleteโs Foot
Warts, often caused by viral infections, and athleteโs foot, a fungal infection, thrive in moist, public environments. Avoid walking barefoot in communal spaces and keep feet dry. Seek medical help if you suspect a wart or infection, and follow hygiene practices like washing daily, drying thoroughly, and wearing breathable shoes.
Diabetes and Foot Health
Diabetes can cause serious foot complications, including infections, ulcers, and nerve damage. People with diabetes should follow strict foot care routines, including daily inspections, moisturizing (but not between toes), and wearing protective footwear.
Preventing Foot Pain
Common causes of foot pain include poor footwear, weight issues, and improper foot mechanics. To avoid pain, wear supportive shoes, rest your feet when needed, and maintain a healthy weight. If you experience persistent pain or swelling, consult a doctor.
