👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Fun Awaits at Wildwood’s Halloween Hayride Event This October

The Wildwood Cultural Center in Mentor is hosting a family-friendly fall event like no other with their Mysteries of the Manor Trail Golf Cart Hayride! The event will take place on Friday, October 25, from 6 to 10 p.m., and Saturday, October 26, from 2 to 10 p.m. at 7645 Little Mountain Road.

Participants can hop on a cozy golf cart for a haunted ride through the scenic woods of the Wildwood Estate, where they’ll experience the sights and sounds of the Mysteries of the Manor Trail. The event promises a spooky yet fun adventure perfect for all ages.

In addition to the hayride, there will be plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. Kids aged one and older can head over to the Kid's Game Zone for some fun entertainment, while music and dancing will be provided by a live DJ. Over two dozen vendors will be set up, offering various items for sale both inside the Wildwood Estate and on the haunted grounds. Face painting will be available for purchase, and attendees can grab a bite to eat from a selection of local food trucks on-site.

For those looking for an extra fright, the more active scaring times are scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m.

Ticket prices are $18 for Mentor residents and $21 for non-residents, with children under the age of one getting in for free. To register or create an online account with the city of Mentor, you can contact the Wildwood Cultural Center at (440) 974-5735.

🤖 Mentor Police Host 11th Annual Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive on November 10

Mentor Police will be holding their eleventh annual Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Giant Eagle supermarket on 8383 Tyler Boulevard.

During this time, officers will be collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations, which will go to local food pantries to support families in need within the City of Mentor. Over the past decade, the Fill-a-Cruiser initiative has gathered enough food to fill 24 police vehicles and raised nearly $19,000 in cash donations, demonstrating the community's consistent support and generosity.

The Mentor Police Department is encouraging residents to contribute again this year and help make a positive impact on local families.

🦇 Celebrate #BatWeek at Penitentiary Glen with Fun Activities and Prizes

The annual #BatWeek kicked off on Thursday, October 24, and will continue through October 31, offering a week-long celebration of these crucial nocturnal pollinators. The event takes place at the Penitentiary Glen Reservation, where visitors can participate in a variety of activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

This year's festivities include a bat-themed scavenger hunt, where participants search for stationary icons representing the ten native bat species of Ohio along the paved Glen Meadow Loop Trail. The Nature Center will host the "Bat Discovery" challenge, with new bat species mysteries to solve each day. Additionally, visitors can enter a raffle by answering a bat-related question correctly for a chance to win a bat-themed gift basket. Entries will be accepted until October 30, with the winner announced on Halloween.

On Friday, October 25, 2024, the Mentor Cardinals Varsity Boys Football team capped off an undefeated regular season with a decisive 51-14 win against the Euclid Panthers. The victory brings the Cardinals' record to a flawless 10-0, solidifying their top position as they move confidently into the playoffs.

The Cardinals showcased their offensive prowess throughout the game, overwhelming the Panthers with a series of well-executed plays. With this final regular-season win, the team maintains strong momentum, setting high expectations for their playoff performance.

🏈 Lake Catholic Cougars Clinch Perfect Season with 26-17 Win Over NDCL

The Lake Catholic Cougars secured a 26-17 victory over the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions (NDCL) on Friday night, ending their regular season on a high note. The game kicked off with a quick start by DJ Sears, who pushed through for a 1-yard touchdown run. A successful two-point conversion soon followed, putting the Cougars ahead 8-0.

In the second quarter, NDCL responded with a touchdown, narrowing the gap to 8-7. However, Lake Catholic regained momentum just before halftime with a sustained drive that concluded with a 3-yard touchdown run by Caden Boyes, making it 15-7 at the break.

NDCL added three points with a field goal early in the second half, but the Cougars extended their lead in the fourth quarter. Cougar Quarterback Frankie Trinetti connected with Caden Boyes for a 7-yard touchdown pass, followed by another two-point conversion, pushing the score to 23-10. NDCL managed another touchdown to bring the score to 23-17, but with time dwindling, Lake Catholic sealed their win with an 18-yard field goal, finalizing the score at 26-17.

The victory marks a perfect season for the Cougars at 10-0 as they head toward the playoffs.
