🫧 Aloe, Advocacy, and Empowerment: How One Skincare Expert Is Making a Difference in Mentor
With a commitment to natural skincare and community betterment, Nancy Sustersic is redefining wellness and resilience.
In a quiet corner of Mentor, Nancy Sustersic is building a business that is as much about transformation as it is about skincare. As an expert skincare specialist, Sustersic offers a personalized approach to wellness, with a product line rooted in the natural power of aloe vera. But her journey is far more than skin-deep — it’s one of perseverance, reinvention, and giving back.
Her story starts with loss but grows into one of resilience. At 40, Sustersic became a widow after her husband passed away from stomach cancer. As a single mother, she sought ways to support her family and cultivate a meaningful path forward. “I’ve always had an interest in nutrition and staying well,” she says, “but it wasn’t until later in life that I realized how much of a difference good skincare could make, not just physically but emotionally.” At 72, Sustersic discovered a skincare line that transformed her complexion and became the cornerstone of her business.

Two years and three months into her entrepreneurial journey, Sustersic’s passion for her products and her customers is evident. She offers one-on-one consultations and complimentary facials, inviting clients to “try before they buy.” With a focus on natural ingredients — every product’s first ingredient is aloe, not water — she emphasizes a clean, chemical-free approach. The product lineup includes everything from anti-aging serums to baby cleansers, vitamins, and even an aloe collagen drink for extra energy.
“What sets us apart is simple: our products work because they’re pure,” she says. “Why pay for watered-down skincare when you can nourish your skin with something natural? I see it as an investment in yourself, and my clients see the results.”
Her personal favorites? The Neck Firming Cream and the Turn Back Time set (“Insert Cher music here,” she jokes with a smile.) — products that not only deliver results but inspire a playful sense of confidence.
A Business Built on Community
While Sustersic’s business operates out of her home, her presence is felt far beyond her Meadowlawn Drive address. From local coffee houses to community events, she makes it a point to connect with her clients where they’re most comfortable. A proud member of the Mentor and Willoughby Chambers of Commerce, she values the relationships she’s built with other local entrepreneurs.
Beyond business, Sustersic and her husband Joe are active advocates for victims of human trafficking. For the past eight years, they’ve volunteered with organizations focused on rescue and recovery, raising awareness about an often-hidden crisis. “This cause is very close to our hearts,” she shares. “It’s something that reminds us of the power of giving back, no matter where you are in life.”
Her commitment to community also extends to local schools. On Dec. 19, she’ll volunteer at the Mentor Food for Schools program at Mentor High, helping to ensure that students in need have access to meals over the holidays.
“It’s not just about running a business,” Sustersic says. “It’s about being part of something bigger — something meaningful.”
The Next Chapter
Looking ahead, Sustersic is excited to offer a few great new products in January 2025 that new and seasoned customers will love, a reflection of constant innovation.
Her goals for the future are simple but impactful: to expand her reach, educate more people about the benefits of aloe-based skincare, and maintain her focus on personalized service. “I want every client to feel like they’re my only client,” she explains. “That’s the beauty of working one-on-one — it’s about relationships, not just sales.” This is what she teaches her team members. “Jump in and enjoy the health and financial rewards with me”, she says.
Sustersic credits her husband Joe for being her biggest supporter. Together, they’ve built a business that reflects their values of wellness, integrity, and community. “Joe came into my life at a time when I wasn’t sure what the future would hold,” she says. “Now, we get to build this dream together.”
Skincare with a Purpose
At its core, bodyins.com is about more than beauty; it’s about empowerment. From helping clients feel confident in their skin to supporting local causes, Sustersic sees her work as a way to make a lasting impact.
“My life has been changed,” she says. “It gave me the tools to take control of my health, my confidence, and my future. And now I get to help others do the same. That’s what makes this journey so rewarding.”
As she prepares for the next phase of her business, Sustersic remains grounded in the values that have guided her so far: authenticity, service, and the belief that it’s never too late to start anew.

🥶 Arctic Blast Brings Snow and Bitter Cold to Northeast Ohio
An arctic front arrived yesterday evening and triggered scattered snow. After midnight, lake effect snow began to set up around the area. The lake effect snow in particular will impact areas from Euclid to Conneaut, with Western Lake County expecting two to four inches. The real punch comes with bitterly cold temperatures plummeting into the teens and winds gusting to 40 mph, creating wind chills near zero. Thursday will remain frigid, with single-digit wind chills persisting throughout the day.
🎉 Lake County Hosts Free Event to Promote Sober Driving This Holiday Season
The 29th Annual Protect & Serve Tavern will take place from noon to 3pm, on December 14, 2024, at the Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, Ohio, offering free mocktails, snacks, and educational activities to promote sober driving during the holidays. Hosted by Lake County organizations and the NHTSA, the event will feature impaired-driving simulations, recipes for non-alcoholic drinks, and safety tips to reduce alcohol-related crashes. This effort aims to prevent impaired driving fatalities and encourage year-round safe driving habits.
Shoppers will be treated to free non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and engaging activities. One notable activity is the “Fatal Vision” goggle demonstration, which allows participants to experience the effects of alcohol impairment in a controlled setting. Caitlin McCarthy of WOIO will serve as a guest bartender.

🐶 Dog Training Made Easy: The Power of Positive Rewards
Dog training doesn't have to be a struggle. Positive reinforcement is a powerful, gentle method that can transform your relationship with your furry friend while teaching valuable behaviors.
Positive reinforcement training focuses on rewarding good behavior with treats, praise, or affection. Instead of punishing unwanted actions, you motivate your dog by celebrating the behaviors you want to see. This approach offers numerous benefits:
It's highly effective, helping dogs learn new tricks and behaviors quickly
It strengthens the bond between you and your pet
Training becomes an enjoyable experience for both of you
You can customize the approach to your dog's unique personality
Getting started is simple. Begin by selecting rewards your dog truly loves - whether that's special treats, a favorite toy, or enthusiastic praise. The key is immediate recognition. When your dog performs a desired action, reward them instantly so they connect the behavior with the positive outcome.
Consistency is crucial. Use the same types of rewards and provide them promptly after the desired behavior. Start with frequent rewards and gradually reduce them as your dog becomes more proficient.
Be patient with yourself and your dog. Learning takes time, and every dog progresses differently. Choose rewards that truly motivate your pet, and keep training sessions short and fun.
While other training methods exist, positive reinforcement stands out for its ability to create a loving, trusting relationship. By focusing on encouragement rather than punishment, you'll not only teach your dog new skills but also build a deeper connection that lasts a lifetime.

🏀 Cougars' Hot Start Cools in Season Opener
The Lake Catholic Cougars (0-1) boys basketball team stumbled in their first game of the season, dropping a hard-fought contest to Mayfield (1-3) by a score of 68-62. Despite a scorching start that saw them drain three of four early 3-pointers and build an initial 9-2 lead, the Cougars couldn't maintain their momentum.
Aiden Webb led the charge with a game-high 23 points, including six 3-pointers, while Ace Peterlin contributed 15 points. The team's early sharpshooting faded as the game progressed, with their shooting cooling off after a hot first quarter.
Coach Matt Vespa acknowledged the team's limited preparation, having only one scrimmage and seven practices before the matchup. The Cougars struggled to maintain their offensive rhythm, particularly in the second half, where Mayfield's balanced attack and team-oriented play proved decisive.
Lake Catholic will look to rebound in their home opener against Holy Name, seeking to turn the page on this disappointing season-opening loss.
🏒 Cardinals Clip Comets: Mentor Soars to Dominant 6-1 Victory
In a thunderous display of hockey prowess, the Mentor Cardinals unleashed offensive fireworks against the Steele (Amherst) Comets, skating away with a commanding 6-1 victory. Dominic Trem and Ruslan Sherstiuk led the charge, each potting two goals, while Jake Mackey and Nathan Andree added single tallies. Goaltender Ryan Wilkinson was a brick wall, stopping 29 of 30 shots and proving why he's a critical component of the Cardinals' success. The win pushed Mentor's record to an impressive 8-4-1, continuing their momentum heading into Friday's matchup against Padua Franciscan. With balanced scoring and rock-solid goaltending, the Cardinals are proving they're a team to be reckoned with this season.
