The Lake Development Authority (LDA) has expanded its partnership with Lake County commissioners and the Workforce Development Board to enhance workforce development services. This initiative aims to align training programs with local industry needs, fostering economic growth and making it easier for job seekers and employers to access resources.
The partnership will streamline services, integrating workforce training, job placement, and business retention efforts under one system. Oversight of adult, dislocated worker, and youth programming will be managed by the LDA and OhioMeansJobs Lake County.
Officials highlighted the benefits for businesses and job seekers, including saving over $50,000 in administrative costs, which will be reallocated to local economic initiatives. The collaboration is expected to improve efficiency, address employer needs, and enhance career opportunities in the county.
For more information, contact Amy Cossick, Deputy Executive Director of the LDA, at 440-350-5343 or acossick@ldauthority.org.

๐ November Home Sales Surge as Buyers Face Rising Costs and Tight Supply
U.S. existing home sales rose 4.8% in November, reaching an eight-month high at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.15 million units, according to the National Association of Realtors. This follows a steady recovery from Septemberโs 14-year low and marks a 6.1% year-over-year increase. Despite the rebound, affordability challenges, high mortgage rates, and economic uncertainties weigh on the 2025 outlook.
Mortgage rates, influenced by economic resilience and Federal Reserve policies, are projected to remain elevated at 6% to 6.5%, discouraging homeowners from selling and tightening inventory. November saw housing supply fall 2.9% to 1.33 million units, while the median home price increased 4.7% to $406,100. Inventory levels at 3.8 months remain below the balanced range of four to seven months.
Higher building costs and labor shortages are expected to limit new construction, further straining supply. Homes stayed on the market longer at an average of 32 days, while first-time buyers accounted for just 30% of sales, below the 40% ideal for market health. Despite these challenges, steady job growth and buyer demand provide hope for the marketโs recovery.
