❄️ Cold, Snowy Week Ahead: Wind Chills May Fall Below Zero by Tuesday

Northeast Ohio is entering a cold and snowy weather pattern. Snow showers are expected Sunday morning, with highs possibly reaching the low 30s, ending a 10-day freeze streak. An arctic front will bring significant temperature drops Monday, fueling lake effect snow through Thursday. Key areas may see 3-6+ inches of snow. Wind chills could fall below zero Tuesday, prompting warnings. Conditions ease slightly by Friday, but more wintry weather looms next weekend.

🚤 2025 Cleveland Boat Show Set to Make Waves This January

The 2025 Cleveland Boat Show, Ohio's oldest and largest boating event, is set to return on January 16 at the International Exposition Center (IX Center) in Cleveland. Celebrating its 68th year, the show will showcase more than 300 boats, inviting visitors to climb aboard and explore a wide range of vessels, including brand-new 2025 models from top manufacturers.

Organized by the Ohio Marine Trades Association, this year’s event promises an expanded experience with something for everyone. In addition to an impressive display of boats, the show will feature fishing equipment exhibits, family-friendly activities, and live attractions. Visitors can enjoy the On-The-Water-Ohio Kids Discovery Zone, paddleboard and kayak demonstrations in the Paddling Pool, and daily performances by the world-famous Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel.

The theme for 2025, "Buy the Boat," emphasizes the accessibility and enjoyment of the boating lifestyle. To support first-time buyers, the event will host educational seminars like Boat Buying 101, which aim to dispel common myths about boat ownership costs and provide practical tips for managing expenses.

Ohio boasts a thriving boating community, with more than 631,000 registered boats and an estimated 241,000 unregistered vessels as of 2022, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The Cleveland Boat Show continues to celebrate this vibrant culture by connecting enthusiasts with the tools, knowledge, and experiences they need to enjoy life on the water.

General admission tickets for the Cleveland Boat Show are $20 and can be purchased on the event’s official website.

Key West in January: Your Ultimate Guide

January is one of the best times to visit Key West, offering perfect weather, vibrant events, and a bustling atmosphere. From its warm climate to exciting activities and festivals, this guide will help you plan the ideal winter getaway.

Weather: Sunny and Comfortable

Key West's January weather is a major draw, with average highs around 75°F (24°C) and lows rarely dipping below 65°F (18°C). The lower humidity makes exploring the island pleasant, and the chance of rain is minimal at just 14%. Plus, visiting in January means avoiding hurricane season, which ends in November. While rare, occasional cold fronts can bring temperatures into the upper 50s, so check the forecast before packing.

Crowds: A Bustling Peak Season

As peak tourist season, January sees an influx of visitors escaping colder climates. This popularity means hotels and tours book up quickly, so plan early. To beat the crowds:

  • Book in Advance: Secure accommodations and activities well ahead of your trip.

  • Visit Early or Late: Popular spots like the Ernest Hemingway Home and the Southernmost Point are quieter in the morning or late afternoon.

  • Explore Hidden Gems: Escape the hustle by visiting lesser-known attractions like the Key West Garden Club or the Eco-Discovery Center. For a change of scenery, consider a road trip to nearby spots like Bahia Honda State Park.

Exciting Events in January

Key West's calendar is packed with events celebrating its culture and community. Notable highlights include:

  • Key West Literary Seminar: Early January brings this prestigious event, attracting authors and literature lovers for discussions and workshops.

  • Florida Keys Seafood Festival: Mid-January, enjoy fresh seafood, live music, and family fun at this two-day celebration at Truman Waterfront Park.

  • Key West 5K and Half Marathon: Runners can enjoy scenic routes along A1A with options for multiple race distances.

  • Key West Food and Wine Festival: A late-January favorite, showcasing local flavors through tastings and pairings.

  • New Year’s Day Celebrations: Ring in the new year with beach parties, fireworks, and the iconic “Conch Shell Drop” at Sloppy Joe’s Bar.

Plan Your Trip Early

January is the perfect time to enjoy Key West’s tropical charm, but preparation is key. Book accommodations and activities in advance, explore both popular and hidden attractions, and take part in the island’s dynamic events to make the most of your trip.

Key West in January offers idyllic weather, minimal rain, and a variety of cultural and recreational activities. As peak season, the island is lively but requires advance planning to secure accommodations and activities. From the Florida Keys Seafood Festival to the Key West Half Marathon, the events calendar is packed. Whether you’re chasing warm sunshine, fresh seafood, or unique experiences, January is an excellent time to visit.
