📢 The Wellness Connection: Harnessing Holistic Healing in Mentor

The Wellness Connection
Karen Martin’s Studio Brings Non-Invasive Therapy to Northeast Ohio
MENTOR, Ohio — Inside The Wellness Connection, soft lighting and a welcoming atmosphere set the stage for something unconventional yet increasingly sought after: electromagnetic energy therapy. The small studio, established in 2021 by Karen Martin, offers a specialized pulsed energy treatment aimed at improving circulation and accelerating the body’s natural healing processes.
Martin, who spent years in the home health field before becoming a certified wellness coach, knows firsthand the frustration of chronic pain and limited treatment options. After experiencing the benefits of this therapy herself, she felt compelled to bring it to others in her community.
“I had struggled with my own physical issues,” Martin said. “When I found relief through this holistic approach, I wanted to help others experience the same.”
A Science-Backed Approach to Healing
At the core of The Wellness Connection’s services is pulsed electromagnetic therapy, designed to increase circulation in small blood vessels, which make up about 75% of the circulatory system. The benefits, Martin explains, range from reducing discomfort and swelling to improving sleep, lowering blood pressure, and boosting mental acuity.
“Increasing circulation helps deliver nutrients, oxygen, and immune cells more efficiently while removing waste from the body,” she said. “Clients often come in for one issue and discover improvements in other areas of their health as well.”
For many, the therapy offers a non-invasive alternative to medication or surgery. Athletes use it to shorten recovery times, while others turn to it for relief from chronic pain, sleep disturbances, or post-surgical healing. The best part? The sessions are quick—just eight to sixteen minutes—making them easy to fit into a busy schedule.
A Studio With a Personal Touch
Unlike traditional wellness clinics, The Wellness Connection operates on a flexible, hassle-free membership model. Clients can drop in during open therapy hours without the need for an appointment.
“We get to know our clients personally and help them with all aspects of their health,” Martin said. “It’s about more than just treatment—it’s about connection.”
That personal touch has led to some inspiring success stories. Just this week, Martin recalled, a woman who had completed nine sessions shared that her grandson had noticed her newfound energy.
“‘Wow, Grandma, you want to keep walking? You always stop and say your knees hurt,’” Martin recounted with a smile. “Hearing her excitement that she could keep up with him brought us so much joy.”
An Open Invitation to Explore Wellness
Martin understands that trying a new therapy can feel like a leap of faith. That’s why she offers two complimentary sessions to first-time visitors.
“We want people to experience it for themselves,” she said. “First-time appointments are scheduled outside of our regular studio hours so we can provide a more personal introduction to the therapy.”
Appointments can be booked via phone, email, or through a link on the studio’s website.
With its holistic approach and growing community of wellness-minded individuals, The Wellness Connection is more than a business—it’s a space for healing, discovery, and transformation. And for those who walk through its doors, relief may be just a few pulses away.
Experience the benefits of electromagnetic energy therapy for yourself with two complimentary sessions at The Wellness Connection. Schedule your first appointment outside regular studio hours for a personalized introduction. Call, email, or book online through our website today!

🛣️ Mentor Unveils 2025 Roadwork Plans: $1.8M Set for Neighborhood Streets
The city of Mentor has outlined its 2025 road improvement projects, aiming to enhance both neighborhood streets and major roadways. The Building & Engineering Department oversees the city's 745 public streets, spanning approximately 245 miles, and utilizes a structured evaluation process to determine repair priorities.
Annual Street Repair Program
Each year, Mentor evaluates its streets using a formula developed by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). Streets in two of the city's four wards are assessed annually, with repairs distributed evenly across all wards. In 2025, the city will invest around $1.8 million in resurfacing and repairing 30 neighborhood streets—18 asphalt and 12 concrete.
Asphalt streets to be repaired:
Beaver Creek Dr., Bernard Dr., Biltmore Rd., Bryson Dr., Campbell Rd., Colony Ct., Curtiss Ct., Foothill Rd., Forestview Ave., Haversford Dr., Homewood Dr., Kayne Dr., Little Mountain Rd., Sharonlee Dr., South Shandle Blvd., Tall Oaks Dr., Edward St., and Rosewood Ln.
Concrete streets to be repaired:
Bishop Ct., Center St., Cornwall Ct., Fillmore Ct., Garden Ln., Heisley Rd., Justin Way, Katherine Ct., Kellogg Creek Dr., Leah Ct., and Snowberry Ct.
Major Roadway Projects
Several significant road projects are also planned for 2025, many of which will be partially funded through state and federal grants.
State Route 44 (Heisley Rd.) – Milling, repair, and resurfacing from SR-2 to the Mentor corporation line near SR-283. Funded entirely by ODOT, with a total cost of $1 million.
Lakeshore Boulevard (SR-283) – Milling and repaving between Andrews Road and the city's west corporation line. The $1.7 million project is supported by a $720,000 ODOT grant.
Corduroy Road – Resurfacing from the south end of the causeway to Garden Lane. Half of the $491,000 cost is covered by Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) funding.
Mercantile Drive – Concrete pavement replacement between Hamilton Drive and the new Mercantile Drive extension. The total cost is $940,000, with $400,000 provided by OPWC.
Hoose Road & Cannon Ridge Drive – Hoose Road will be resurfaced from King Memorial Road to the Concord Township line, while Cannon Ridge Drive will see concrete replacement from Hoose Road to Brayes Manor Drive. The $668,000 project includes $300,000 in OPWC funding.
These projects reflect Mentor's commitment to maintaining and improving its infrastructure. Residents with questions about roadwork or other infrastructure improvements can contact the Building & Engineering Department at [email protected].
🚒 Mentor to Build New Fire Station 3 at Johnnycake Ridge Road

City of Mentor
The City of Mentor has finalized the purchase of 2.7 acres at the northeast corner of Johnnycake Ridge Road and Plaza Boulevard for the construction of a new Mentor Fire Station 3. The land acquisition was officially approved by Mentor City Council.
The new station will replace the 60-year-old facility currently located next to Eleanor B. Garfield Park on Mentor Avenue. The updated location was selected to enhance emergency response times and better serve residents and businesses in the surrounding area.
Demolition work is already underway at the site, which formerly housed the old Sears Auto Center. The design phase for the new fire station will begin this year, with construction expected to follow shortly after. If the project stays on schedule, Mentor Fire Station 3 will be operational by the end of 2026.

🏒 Mentor Hockey Makes History, Advances to State Semifinals
Mentor High School’s hockey team made history last weekend, securing its first Kent Regional championship with a 4-0 win over top-seeded University School. The Cardinals are the first public school to claim the title since 2013.
Under head coach Paul McKito, Mentor had reached the regional finals five times, but this is their first trip to the OHSAA state semifinals. They emerged from a tough Kent Region featuring Gilmour Academy, Walsh Jesuit, and Shaker Heights.
Mentor (24-9-2) will face Upper Arlington (27-6-2) in the state semifinals Saturday at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Defending champion St. Ignatius and Toledo St. Francis de Sales will meet in the other semifinal.
The Cardinals, unbeaten since December 27, avenged their last loss with a 2-1 win over Walsh Jesuit in the regional semis. McKito credits the team’s success to disciplined preparation and strong hockey IQ. Key contributors include seniors A.J. Trobenter, Dominic Trem, junior Jake Mackey, and goalie Ryan Wilkinson.
With a Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League title already secured, Mentor is just two wins away from a state championship.
