Gas Meter Painting Causes Concern in Mentor; Police Clarify Situation
Some Mentor residents were alarmed after noticing workers painting gas meters outside their homes. The Mentor Police Department received multiple calls about the activity and has since confirmed that the work is being done by Tank Enterprises, a contractor hired by Enbridge.
According to authorities, residents were not notified in advance, leading to confusion and concern. However, officials have assured the public that this is a routine outdoor maintenance task and that no workers should need access inside homes.
Police advise homeowners to remain cautious, always verify the identity of contractors, and avoid letting anyone inside without proper credentials. Residents with concerns are encouraged to contact Enbridge directly for more information.

š° Painesvilleās Historic Riderās Inn Closes Permanently Due to Costly Repairs

Riders Inn - Painesville
Historic Riderās Inn Closes Permanently After Maintenance Challenges
Riderās Inn, recently renamed Legacy Lounge and Event Center, has permanently closed its doors. Owner Kaela Alex officially ended operations in late December, initially hoping to reopen after addressing repair and maintenance issues. However, after assessing the extensive costs required for renovations, she decided to step away.
On March 6, Alex returned the keys to building owner Elaine Crane, citing significant structural problems, water leaks, fire code violations, and corroded drainage pipes. A local engineerās inspection confirmed the extensive repairs needed, leading Alex to conclude that continuing the business was not financially feasible.
āI invested everything I had,ā Alex shared, expressing disappointment but also hope that the historic building will be restored.
The 213-year-old property, which has operated as an inn, restaurant, and event space over the years, remains without a tenant. Crane, who has retained ownership of the building throughout, stated that she is exploring options to preserve this piece of Lake County history.

š NFL Quarterback Carousel: Wilson Visits Browns Amid League-Wide Chess Match
In a twist of football fate, Russell Wilson visited the Cleveland Browns Thursday, the same day the team introduced Kenny Pickett, the quarterback Wilson replaced in Pittsburgh.
The Browns' courtship of Wilson, despite their commitment to troubled signal-caller Deshaun Watson, highlights the precarious nature of high-profile quarterback acquisitions. Watson, Wilson, and Jets' Aaron Rodgersāonce touted as franchise saviorsāhave largely disappointed their respective organizations.
Wilson departed Berea without a contract, casting doubt on a potential partnership. Reports indicate defensive star Myles Garrett and Watson participated in recruiting efforts during Wilson's visit, though their involvement may have been circumstantial given Garrett's scheduled press appearance and Watson's regular presence at team facilities.
The veteran quarterback now heads to the New York Giants, where leadership faces mounting pressure. The Giants appear torn between Wilson, Rodgers, or an aggressive draft-day move for prospect Cam Ward.
Pittsburgh remains in play for Wilson's services, creating a complex web of quarterback intrigue as teams jockey for leverage in this high-stakes offseason chess match.
