šŸ“° Bystanders Pull Driver to Safety After Rollover Truck Erupts in Flames

Image: Fox 8

Have You Seen This??

A group of Good Samaritans is being praised for their quick actions in saving a driver who was ejected from his truck before it burst into flames on Interstate 90 near Route 44 in Lake County.

The crash occurred just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday when a pickup truck, possibly after clipping another vehicle, lost control and rolled over several times before coming to rest in the median. Moments later, the vehicle erupted into flames.

The driver, thrown from the cab, landed dangerously close to the burning wreckage. Without hesitation, several bystanders rushed to his aid, pulling him away from the fire before emergency crews arrived. Firefighters from Concord Township responded quickly, extinguishing the blaze and commending the rescuers for their life-saving efforts.

Authorities noted that the driver was fortunate to have landed in the grassy median rather than on the highway pavement. Among the rescuers was a nurse who helped provide aid before paramedics arrived. The victim was initially taken to University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center before being airlifted to University Hospitals Medical Center in Cleveland.

Several of the Good Samaritans left the scene without sharing their names, but officials acknowledged their bravery. While first responders caution against putting oneself in danger, they recognize that the quick actions of these individuals may have saved a life.

The annual Big Footer 5K Race and Walk, organized by Special Olympics Lake County, is set to take place on Sunday, March 23. This year marks the eventā€™s 26th anniversary, and participants can look forward to an appearance from Big Foot himself, adding to the excitement of the day.

The 3.1-mile course winds through the scenic Lake County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Deepwood campus in Mentor, Ohio. Along the route, Big Foot markers will guide runners, and the mascot will be available for photos, warm-ups, and encouraging participants throughout the event.

Designed as both a competitive race and a fun, family-friendly event, the Big Footer 5K welcomes all ages and skill levels. Runners can expect a lively atmosphere, with many participants dressing in themed attire, parents jogging with strollers, and seasoned athletes using the event as a season starter.

The event has gained popularity over the years, in part due to its engaging elements. Participants keep an eye out for Big Foot sightings along the route, with contest prizes awarded for those who correctly guess their locations. Each runner will receive an exclusive Big Footer t-shirt, a wooden medal featuring the Big Foot emblem, and a pancake breakfast. Additional prizes are available for those who collect a flag from Big Foot.

The Lake County Board of DD/Deepwood campus provides the perfect setting for the race, with approximately 25 County Board staff members volunteering to support the event. Many local schools are also bringing teams of athletes to show their support. Additionally, Lake County Treasurer Michael Zuren will be among the participants.

āš¾ New for 2025: How to Stream Cleveland Guardians Games Without Blackouts

Cleveland Guardians fans have a new way to catch every pitch in the 2025 season with CLEGuardians.TV, a direct-to-consumer streaming service offering live and on-demand games for in-market viewers.

For $99.99 per year or $19.99 per month, subscribers can watch around 150 Guardians games without local blackouts, a major shift from previous seasons. The service is available on computers, smart TVs, and streaming devices via the MLB app or online at CLEGuardians.TV. A 7-day free trial is also available for new users.

How is CLEGuardians.TV different from MLB.TV? Unlike MLB.TV, which serves out-of-market fans, CLEGuardians.TV is designed for those within the Guardiansā€™ home television territory. If youā€™re outside the Cleveland area, an MLB.TV subscription is still required.

Will Guardians games still be on cable? Yes! Guardians TV will continue to be available through certain cable and satellite providers, with exact details to be announced before Opening Day.

Fans can also expect familiar broadcast voices as Matt Underwood, Rick Manning, and Andre Knott return to the booth for another season.

āš¾ Jose Ramirez, Cleveland Sluggers Power Past Royals in Spring Matchup

The Cleveland Guardians showcased their power in a 7-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals on March 15, highlighted by Jose Ramirezā€™s first home run of the spring. He was joined by Kyle Manzardo, Gabriel Arias, and Angel Martinez, as the team tallied four home runs in the win.

Clevelandā€™s offense was in full swing with 13 hits overall. Ramirez, Steven Kwan, and Kahlil Watson each contributed two hits, while Tyler Freeman added a triple.

On the mound, Triston McKenzie made his fourth spring appearance and third start, allowing four runsā€”including two solo homersā€”across 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four batters without issuing a walk, but his spring ERA sits at 8.18.

Before the game, the Guardians optioned left-handed pitcher Doug Nikhazy to Triple-A Columbus.

Next, Cleveland heads to Milwaukeeā€™s camp on March 16, where Ben Lively (2-0, 1.00 ERA) is set to start.
