⚾ Manzardo’s Historic Opening Day Lifts Cleveland Over KC in 10-Inning Thriller
Tanner Bibee was scratched from his scheduled Opening Day start against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday due to illness. However, Kyle Manzardo showed up.
Manzardo delivered a standout Opening Day performance, driving in four runs to lead the Cleveland Guardians to a 7-4 extra-inning win over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. His effort tied a club record for most RBIs in a season opener.
Manzardo's big moment came in the 10th, when he hit a two-run double to break a tie and secure the victory. Earlier, he had added a triple and a solo home run, becoming just the third player in MLB history to record a double, triple, and homer on Opening Day.
Cleveland trailed early after a three-run homer by Kansas City’s Vinnie Pasquantino in the third. The Guardians responded with a run in both the fourth and fifth innings, and took a 4-3 lead in the sixth thanks to Manzardo’s solo shot.
The Royals tied it in the ninth with a sacrifice fly off Clase, but Cleveland answered quickly in the 10th. Steven Kwan hit an RBI double, and Manzardo drove in two more after an intentional walk to Carlos Santana.
Cleveland’s bullpen held firm in the tenth, with Paul Sewald getting the save. Kansas City missed a key scoring chance in the eighth, hitting into a double play with runners on the corners.
The series continues Saturday with Gavin Williams set to pitch for Cleveland against Kansas City’s Seth Lugo.

🗓️ Mentor Library to Present Program on Sultana Disaster and Local Survivors
The public is invited to explore the deadliest maritime disaster in U.S. history during a free program at the Mentor Public Library’s Main Branch on Monday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m.
Presented by local historian Ginnie Jeschelnig, the program will examine the tragic sinking of the Sultana steamboat, which exploded near Memphis, Tennessee in April 1865, killing nearly 2,000 people. Most of those aboard were Union soldiers recently freed from Confederate prisoner-of-war camps and heading home — many to Ohio.
Jeschelnig will also share the personal stories of two survivors with Ohio ties: Arthur Jones, the only known Northeast Ohio resident to survive the disaster, and Michael Brunner, whose descendants later settled in Lake County.
The program is open to all, but registration is required due to limited seating. To reserve a spot, visit www.mentorpl.org or call 440-255-8811 ext. 1.
🗓️ ‘Quilts 2025’ to Showcase Artistry and Inspiration at Farmpark

Lake Metroparks Farmpark
A celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and color returns to Lake Metroparks Farmpark this spring with Quilts 2025, a month-long exhibition showcasing up to 200 quilts. The exhibit runs from March 28 to April 27, open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Farmpark in Kirtland.
The event offers a vibrant display of artistic quilting, along with workshops and a trunk show led by this year’s featured artist, Cyndi McChesney of New Kent, Virginia. A seasoned quilter with over four decades of experience, McChesney is an author, pattern designer, former quilt shop owner, and nationally recognized instructor. Her books include Fun with Panels and Playful Panel Quilts.
McChesney will lead a series of panel quilting workshops from April 11–13, with a trunk show lecture scheduled for April 12. Pre-registration is required to participate in both the workshops and the lecture.
The exhibition wraps up with Quilt Vendor Days, a three-day shopping event from April 25–27, featuring local quilt shop vendors and live demonstrations on the latest tools and techniques.

⚙️ Snively Inc’s 32-Year Journey: Technology, Community, and Revolutionizing Efficiency

Snively Inc: Pioneering RFID Technology and Custom Software Integration for Over Three Decades
In Mentor, Ohio, one company has quietly but powerfully reshaped the way industries track, manage, and optimize their operations. With 32 years of expertise, Snively Inc combines cutting-edge technology with a human touch, delivering bespoke software solutions that help businesses work smarter, not harder.
On a crisp morning in Mentor, Ohio, the hum of industry fills the air along Tyler Boulevard. It’s here, at 7980 Tyler Blvd, that Snively Inc has spent the past three decades revolutionizing technology solutions for manufacturing and distribution. While its headquarters might suggest a conventional business, the innovations coming from Snively Inc are anything but ordinary.
Founded by Rich Snively, a seasoned software engineer with deep expertise in project management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Snively Inc has built its reputation on transforming complexity into simplicity. The company specializes in custom software design and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, seamlessly integrating these tools to save businesses time, money, and frustration.
Origins in Engineering Excellence
Snively’s journey began 32 years ago, during a period when software development was still finding its footing in manufacturing environments. “I’ve always been fascinated by how technology can improve processes,” says Snively, reflecting on his early days in the industry.
With a background rooted in complex manufacturing and distribution systems, he identified a critical gap in the market: the need for highly customized, user-friendly solutions that cater to the unique demands of industrial clients. This realization spurred the launch of Snively Inc, a company that has since grown into a trusted partner for businesses nationwide.
Revolutionizing Asset Management
At the heart of Snively offerings is its flagship solution: the Snively Information System (SIS). Designed to streamline asset tracking through RFID technology, SIS eliminates the inefficiencies that plague traditional inventory management systems.
“Our SIS platform is a game-changer,” Snively explains. “With RFID, we’re able to provide clients with real-time visibility of their assets, whether they’re using fixed readers, mobile readers, or a combination of both. It’s about empowering businesses to focus on growth rather than wasting time tracking items.”
The SIS platform also boasts a high degree of flexibility. For clients with unique requirements, Snively Inc develops custom Android applications that integrate seamlessly with SIS, ensuring every need is met. Whether managing tools on a factory floor or inventory in a warehouse, the system drastically reduces downtime and operational costs.
Standing Out in a Competitive Field
What sets Snively Inc apart from its competitors is not just its technical expertise but its personalized approach to problem-solving. “We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions,” Snively says. “Every business is different, and our goal is to provide systems that work for them, not the other way around.”
This philosophy has helped Snively Inc build long-term relationships with clients, many of whom rely on the company’s expertise to navigate the challenges of modernization.
Beyond its RFID solutions, Snively Inc also excels in ERP migrations, software development, and hardware sales, offering clients a comprehensive suite of services.
A Commitment to Community
Snively Inc’s impact extends beyond the businesses it serves. For years, the company has been an active participant in the local Mentor community, sponsoring youth baseball and hockey teams.
“I believe in giving back,” says Snively. “Supporting local programs is our way of investing in the future and ensuring we’re contributing to something larger than ourselves.”
These sponsorships are a testament to the company’s values: innovation paired with a strong sense of responsibility to its community.
Looking Ahead
As technology continues to evolve, so too does Snively Inc. While no major product launches are currently on the horizon, the company is committed to staying at the forefront of software and RFID advancements. Snively is also focused on deepening client relationships and finding new ways to help businesses adapt to an increasingly digital landscape.
“Our goal has always been to make our clients’ lives easier,” Snively says. “As long as we’re doing that, I know we’re on the right path.”
With a legacy built on expertise, innovation, and integrity, Snively Inc is poised to remain a leader in the software and technology space for years to come.

The Mentor Cardinals girls softball team picked up their first win of the season with a 9-5 road victory over South Range High School in Canfield.

South Range’s defensive struggles played a role in the outcome, committing five errors, while Mentor played error-free in the field.
