š° Donāt Take the Bait: Spotting and Avoiding Fake Security Alerts
One of the most common online threats today comes from pop-up alerts warning that your personal data has been compromised. With official-looking logos and urgent language, these messages are designed to scare you into reacting quickly.
But make no mistakeāthese are scams.
Clicking on the links or calling the numbers can lead to malware, stolen passwords, or even ransomware that locks your system. These scams are meant to trick you into giving up control.
If you see one of these alerts, donāt panic or click anything. Run a virus scan with your antivirus software. If it persists or youāre unsure what to do, shut down your device and get help from someone you trustālike a family member or a certified tech expert.
Scammers prey on fear and impulsive decisions. Instead, stay calm and verify warnings through official websites, not the pop-up itself.
Protect yourself by staying informed, keeping your software updated, and using tools like ad-blockers to reduce your risk. A cautious, educated approach is the best defense against digital scams.

š The No-Credit Homebuyer's Guide: Unlocking Mortgage Options in 2025
Many first-time homebuyers believe a solid credit history is essential for purchasing a home. While having good credit certainly makes the process smoother, having no credit history doesn't mean homeownership is out of reach.
Strategies for No-Credit Homebuying Success
1. Find Lenders Offering Manual Underwriting
Manual underwriting involves a human underwriter reviewing your overall financial situation rather than relying solely on automated algorithms. Look for lenders who advertise this option, often including local banks and credit unions.
2. Document Your Payment History
Gather comprehensive evidence of on-time payments for:
Rent (12-24 months of consistent payments)
Utilities (electric, water, gas)
Cell phone and internet bills
Insurance premiums
Childcare or tuition payments
These records serve as your "alternative credit history" and demonstrate financial responsibility.
3. Strengthen Your Financial Profile
Lenders will scrutinize other aspects of your finances, so focus on:
Maintaining stable employment (ideally 2+ years)
Saving for a larger down payment
Keeping a healthy bank balance
Minimizing existing debts
Documenting all income sources
4. Consider a Co-Signer
If available, a co-signer with established credit can significantly improve your approval chances. Just remember this person becomes equally responsible for the mortgage.
5. Explore Seller Financing
Some sellers might be willing to finance the purchase directly, bypassing traditional mortgage requirements. While this can work well, always consult a real estate attorney to review the terms.

The Cleveland Guardians closed a tough West Coast trip with a 6-2 loss to the Angels on April 6, finishing their nine-game swing at 3-6 after dropping five of six in Southern California.
Kyle Manzardo provided a bright spot with a solo home run, but the Guardians' offense was mostly held in check. Logan OāHoppe hit a homer for the fourth straight game, and Jorge Soler delivered the go-ahead shot in the sixth inning for Los Angeles. The Angels added insurance runs on sacrifice flies in the seventh.
Luis Ortiz pitched six innings for Cleveland, allowing three runs on seven hits. The decisive blow came on Solerās 397-foot homer, his second in two days. Tyler Anderson started for the Angels, giving up just one hit and two runs over five innings.
Cleveland reliever Kenley Jansen closed the game by matching the fifth-most career strikeouts by a reliever in MLB history. Tim Anderson also chipped in with an RBI single for Los Angeles.
The Guardians now head home for their April 8 opener against the White Sox, with Ben Lively set to start.
š Cavs Stumble Late, Fall to Kings as Top Seed Remains Elusive
The Cleveland Cavaliers saw their three-game winning streak end with a 120-113 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night, delaying their chance to clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
Ty Jerome led Cleveland with 20 points in his return after missing five games due to knee tendinitis, while Donovan Mitchell added 19. Mitchell briefly exited in the second half with a left ankle issue but returned after treatment.
Cleveland held a 106-105 lead with five minutes left but was outscored 13-5 down the stretch. Sacramento's Zach LaVine powered the Kings with 37 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, as the Kings boosted their play-in hopes by moving into ninth place in the West.

š„ Mentor Softball Drops Two in High-Scoring Weekend Matchups
The Mentor Cardinals girls softball team faced a pair of tough losses over the weekend, falling to Gilmour Academy and Nordonia in back-to-back games.
In their matchup against Gilmour, the Cardinals were unable to recover from an early deficit. Gilmour opened strong, building a lead with a steady stream of runs, including a second-inning home run. Mentor struggled offensively until the sixth inning, when they finally broke through with three runs. Despite the late effort, the Cardinals came up short, finishing with six hits and three runs. Gilmour collected nine hits and capitalized on key moments to secure a 9-3 victory.
The second game saw Mentor face off against Nordonia in a high-scoring contest. Although Nordonia jumped out early with a five-run fourth inning that widened the gap, Mentor rallied late with a six-run burst in the final inning. Despite outhitting Nordonia 16 to 12, the Cardinals couldnāt quite overcome the deficit, ultimately falling 13-10 in a wild offensive battle.
Standout performances for Mentor included multiple extra-base hits from several players, while pitching duties were split across the two games. The Cardinals will look to rebound in their upcoming game against Walsh Jesuit on Wednesday.
