š Record Store Day Spins Back Into Northeast Ohio This Saturday

Record Den - Mentor, Ohio
Record Store Day returns on Saturday, April 12, bringing a celebration of vinyl, community, and music culture to dozens of independent shops across Northeast Ohio.
This annual event blends music nostalgia with modern discovery, offering exclusive RSD releasesāmany with ties to the region. From Rock Hall legends like David Bowie and Fleetwood Mac to Ohio-native John Legend, collectors and casual fans alike will find plenty to explore.
Vinyl's resurgence in recent years has fueled a new wave of independent record stores, many of which opened in the last decade to serve a growing audience eager for tactile music experiences and curated collections. Record Store Day, launched in 2008, aims to drive traffic back to these brick-and-mortar spaces with limited releases and a strong sense of community.
While not every participating shop carries official RSD exclusives, each offers something specialābe it rare pressings, in-store performances, or crate-digging camaraderie. Itās a day for audiophiles, collectors, and anyone chasing the perfect beat to come together and celebrate the art of music in its most analog form.
Mentorās Record Den celebrates Record Store Day. See all the details on what they have to offer here on their Facebook event page.

š° Officer Admits Guilt in Halloween School Parking Lot Assault
A Cleveland police sergeant pleaded guilty Thursday in Lake County court to several charges related to a domestic violence incident outside Riverview Elementary School on Halloween 2024.
Alexander Sinclair, 34, admitted guilt to kidnapping, abduction, endangering children, assault, and inducing panic. The incident occurred while he was off duty and involved his wife as the victim, according to investigators.
Around 9 a.m. on October 31, Sinclair allegedly fired a gun in the schoolās parking lot. A Lake County Sheriffās deputy serving as the school safety officer responded to the sound of the shot. Court documents say Sinclair charged the deputy, struck him, and tried to grab his firearm. The deputy used a taser to subdue him. The deputy suffered a dislocated finger.
While jailed, Sinclair allegedly violated a restraining order by calling his wife multiple times from the facilityās phone system.
He was initially indicted on several charges, including discharging a firearm in a school safety zone, improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle, and violating a protection order. Sinclair has been suspended without pay during the legal proceedings. He joined the Cleveland Division of Police in 2015 and most recently worked in the Fifth District.

š° Ohio Officials Urge Residents to Destroy Spotted Lanternfly Eggs Before They Hatch
Ohio agriculture officials are urging residents to act now to stop the spread of the invasive spotted lanternfly before its next generation hatches.
The Ohio State University Extension recently issued a reminder to check for and destroy the insectās egg masses as spring approaches. These pests, first spotted in Ohio in 2020, pose a serious threat to grapevines, fruit trees, and other crops by feeding on plant sap in large groups.
Each egg mass contains 30 to 50 eggs and can often be found on trees, furniture, and vehicles. Officials recommend scraping them off with a knife or credit card and dropping them into soapy water or rubbing alcohol. Horticultural oils can also be used as a treatment during winter or early spring.
Quick action can help reduce the number of nymphs that hatch and slow the pestās spread across the state. Residents are also encouraged to report sightings to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
With hatching season near, now is the time to act and protect Ohioās agricultural landscape.

ā¾ Kwan Sparks Guardians Sweep as White Sox Drop Eighth Straight
Steven Kwan led the way as the Cleveland Guardians completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago White Sox with a 6-1 win on Thursday, handing Chicago its eighth straight loss.
Kwan went 4-for-5 with a home run, three singles, and four RBIs. He scored after singling to start the game, with Kyle Manzardo following up with his fourth homer of the season to give Cleveland a 2-1 lead. In the third, Kwan hit a two-run homer after a Brayan Rocchio double, and later added two RBI singles to cap off his standout night.
Gavin Williams earned the win for Cleveland, allowing one run on three hits across five innings, striking out seven. Jakob Junis and Joey Cantillo each delivered two scoreless innings to close it out.
Chicagoās Jonathan Cannon surrendered six runs over 5 1/3 innings in the loss. The White Sox also added Korey Lee and Mike Tauchman to the injured list before the game, joining Andrew Benintendi, who was sidelined a day earlier.
Despite logging just three hits in each of the first two games, the Guardians managed to win both ā something the franchise hadnāt done in back-to-back games since 1901.
š Jerome Shines, Cavs Nearly Steal Win Despite Missing Starters
Missing four starters, the Cleveland Cavaliers nearly pulled off an upset against a full-strength Indiana Pacers team, falling 103-101 in a hard-fought game. With players dropping throughout the night, Cleveland ended the game with a third-string lineup led by Tristan Thompson and rookie Jaylon Tyson, who missed a buzzer-beater that wouldāve forced overtime.
The Cavs stayed competitive early, thanks to Ty Jeromeās 24-point effort. A strong second quarter, fueled by inside scoring and second-chance points, gave Cleveland a four-point halftime lead. Though Indiana surged late in the third, a rare ejection of assistant coach Kenny Atkinson sparked a 4-0 Cavs run, putting them up one heading into the fourth.
With Jerome rested in the final frame, Sam Merrill hit four three-pointers to keep Cleveland close. DeāAndre Hunter added 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Jarrett Allen played only the first half, finishing with three points and 10 boards.
Indiana was led by Tyrese Haliburtonās 23 points and 10 assists, and Aaron Nesmithās 22-point performance. Despite the loss, the Cavs impressed with strong ball movement, shooting 46% from deep, and showing playoff-worthy depth and resilience.
