📰 Ohio Seniors Can Now Apply for $50 Farmers Market Benefit

The 2025 season of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) has officially launched, offering qualifying seniors across Ohio a $50 benefit to spend on fresh, locally grown produce, herbs, and honey at participating farmers’ markets and roadside stands.

To qualify, residents must be 60 years or older and have an income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level. Annual re-enrollment is required to continue receiving benefits.

Returning this year are both digital and physical benefit options. Those who enroll with an email address will receive a digital $50 benefit, redeemable through a smartphone app starting May 15. Physical cards remain available and will be reloaded with this year's funds for returning participants. New enrollees or those needing replacements will receive cards by mail, which may take 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.

The program, designed to improve seniors' access to nutritious food while supporting local agriculture, will accept applications until September 30, 2025. All benefits must be used by November 30. Participants are encouraged to keep their physical cards for possible use in 2026.

Lake County residents can find a list of local markets accepting the benefits at www.ohiofarmersmarketnetwork.org/senior-farmers-market-nutrition-program. For assistance with the online application, Lake County seniors can contact the Lake County Council on Aging at (440) 205-8111. Source: cityofmentor.com

🏈 Browns Land Top Defensive Star Mason Graham After Draft-Day Deal with Jaguars

Browns Make Bold Move, Land Top Defensive Talent Mason Graham After Draft-Day Trade

The Cleveland Browns made waves early in the 2025 NFL Draft with a bold trade that reshaped the top of the board—and their defensive future. Cleveland dealt the No. 2 overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, securing the No. 5 pick and a future first-round selection in return.

With their new top-five pick, the Browns selected Michigan standout Mason Graham, one of the premier defensive prospects in the draft. The move was met with enthusiastic reactions from NFL fans, particularly those impressed by Graham’s standout collegiate career and the Browns' strategic draft maneuvering.

Graham, a dominant force on Michigan’s defensive line, played a central role in the Wolverines' 2023 College Football Playoff championship. Named an All-American, he was widely praised for his disruptive presence in both the pass rush and run defense.

According to B/R’s NFL Scouting Department, Graham ranked as the No. 3 overall prospect and was listed as both the top defensive lineman and the most effective at rushing the passer and stopping the run.

The trade that enabled the pick, however, will likely remain a hot topic. Jacksonville used the No. 2 pick to draft Travis Hunter, the Heisman-winning two-way player from Colorado. If Hunter thrives at the next level, comparisons between the two selections will be inevitable.

Despite that looming storyline, Cleveland fans have plenty to be optimistic about. Graham is expected to anchor the Browns' defensive interior for years to come, bringing elite talent to a unit already brimming with potential.

And while some Ohio State fans in Cleveland may need to look past Graham’s roots with rival Michigan, his talent and tenacity could quickly turn skeptics into supporters.

🏈 Browns Flip No. 2 Pick to Jaguars, Add Future First and Draft Capital

The Cleveland Browns were active on the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft, making two trades that reshaped their draft position and future assets.

In their first deal, Cleveland traded picks No. 179, 216, and 255 to the Houston Texans for pick No. 166 (fifth round) and a 2027 fifth-round pick, gaining better positioning and long-term value.

The second, a blockbuster with the Jacksonville Jaguars, saw the Browns move down from No. 2 overall. In return, they received:

  • Pick No. 5

  • Pick No. 36

  • Pick No. 126

  • A 2026 first-round pick

Jacksonville used the No. 2 pick to select Heisman winner Travis Hunter. Cleveland, at No. 5, chose Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham—one of the draft’s top defenders.

Following these trades, the Browns now hold eight picks in the 2025 draft:

  • Round 1: No. 5

  • Round 2: No. 33, No. 36

  • Round 3: No. 67

  • Round 4: No. 94, No. 126

  • Round 5: No. 166

  • Round 6: No. 192

They also added a 2026 first-round and a 2027 fifth-round pick, setting the stage for sustained roster building.
