📰 2025 Njoku Celebrity Game Roster Features Haden, Cribbs, Flacco & More

Photo: cvfanexperience.com
The Lake County Captains have revealed the initial roster for the highly anticipated 2025 David Njoku Celebrity Softball Game, scheduled for Thursday, June 19 at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake. Presented by DTLR and powered by Clear Vision, the event will once again blend sports and entertainment in a fan-favorite summer tradition.
Hosted by Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl tight end David Njoku, the celebrity-filled evening will feature current Browns players, former NFL stars, and special guests from the wrestling world.
Among the headline participants is former Browns cornerback Joe Haden, returning to the Eastlake field where he previously hosted his own celebrity games. Haden, a 2010 first-round draft pick, earned back-to-back Pro Bowl honors in 2013 and 2014 and was named Second Team All-Pro in 2013.
Joining him is Browns legend Josh Cribbs, the electrifying return specialist and wide receiver who became a fan favorite in Cleveland. A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Cribbs was named to the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team and holds 11 career return touchdowns.
Current Browns quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Shedeur Sanders will also take part. Flacco, the 2023 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, guided Cleveland to the playoffs after a late-season signing. He previously led the Ravens to a Super Bowl XLVII victory, earning MVP honors. Sanders, a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, comes to Cleveland after a standout college career at Colorado, where he was named a 2024 All-American and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
The game will also feature appearances from two local WWE personalities. Johnny Gargano, a St. Edward High School graduate and WWE SmackDown star, returns after playing in last year’s event. Joining him is Vic Joseph, a Revere High School alum and current NXT Play-by-Play Commentator with a long-running presence on WWE broadcasts.
With more names expected to be added, the 2025 edition of the Celebrity Softball Game promises an exciting blend of gridiron talent and local pride under the summer lights in Eastlake.

🧳 Global Pet Travel Services Market Set to Hit $3.9B by 2030

The global pet travel services market is witnessing a significant upswing, fueled by evolving trends in pet ownership and growing demand for animal-friendly travel options. Valued at $2.4 billion in 2024, the market is forecasted to reach $3.9 billion by 2030, growing at a robust compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.9%, according to a new report available from ResearchAndMarkets.com.
This growth is attributed to several converging factors. The rising number of pet adoptions, coupled with a cultural shift toward treating pets as family members, has led to a surge in demand for travel services that accommodate animals. More pet owners are seeking services that allow them to bring their pets along on domestic and international journeys, particularly as pet-friendly accommodations and transportation options become more accessible.
In developing countries, expanding infrastructure and improved pet transport safety have encouraged service providers to enter the market. Additionally, a significant portion of pet owners now prioritize pet-friendly facilities such as hotels, parks, and cafes when planning vacations. A UK-based study by Condorferries revealed that over half of surveyed pet parents prefer to stay only at pet-friendly accommodations.
Older adults, especially those aged 55 to 64, are increasingly participating in pet-inclusive travel, with baby boomers emerging as a key demographic for service providers. In the U.S. alone, around 2 million pets board commercial flights annually—a number that continues to climb. Most dog owners prefer road trips, with about 85% opting for cars as the primary travel mode.
Recent surveys show that nearly 80% of U.S. pet owners now travel with their pets each year. Long-haul international trips are becoming more common for pet parents, thanks to significant improvements in pet-friendly lodging and transport options.
As the market evolves, service providers are expected to cater more specifically to this growing demand, offering tailored experiences that prioritize safety, comfort, and convenience for both pets and their owners.

⚾ Williams Delivers in the Drizzle as Guardians Down Twins to Split Series
Gavin Williams thrived in cold, damp conditions at Target Field on Wednesday, leading the Cleveland Guardians to a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins and securing a split in their weather-impacted doubleheader.
Unfazed by the steady drizzle and mid-40s temperatures, Williams delivered six strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out six. His outing continued a strong May, now posting a 2.25 ERA over 20 innings.
Monday’s game was suspended after three innings and two rain delays, with Tuesday’s game postponed entirely. The series resumed Wednesday with the conclusion of the opener—won 6-5 by Minnesota on a Kody Clemens walk-off double—followed by the full second game.
Cleveland capitalized on Williams’ efficient performance, as he mixed his fastball and 46 offspeed pitches to keep the Twins off balance. He struck out Clemens twice using the four-seamer and received solid backup from his defense and bullpen.
Austin Hedges threw out Harrison Bader trying to steal in the seventh, helping reliever Tim Herrin breeze through the frame. Hunter Gaddis and Emmanuel Clase followed with scoreless innings to close the win. Carlos Santana added his sixth homer of the season to pad the lead.
The victory snapped a five-game losing streak for the Guardians, who now head to Detroit to face the division-leading Tigers. With outings like this, Williams continues building a case as a cornerstone in the Cleveland rotation.

⚾ Rosario Leads Captains Past Lugnuts in Rain-Delayed 5-4 Win
The Lake County Captains outlasted the Lansing Lugnuts 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Classic Auto Group Park, claiming their second consecutive win in a six-game home series. The game was delayed 57 minutes due to wet grounds before getting underway.
Powered by a standout performance from center fielder Alfonsin Rosario, the Captains built a lead and held off a late rally in the ninth inning. Rosario, Cleveland’s No. 25 prospect, tallied two hits and three RBIs, including a clutch two-run single with two outs in the fifth that ultimately decided the game. He also homered in the third inning, marking his sixth of the season.
Second baseman Christian Knapczyk ignited Lake County’s offense with a leadoff home run on the first pitch he saw, extending his hitting streak to 13 games—the longest by a Captain this year. Catcher Johnny Tincher added an RBI single in the second to make it 2-0.
Lansing got on the board in the third with an RBI double from shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, Oakland’s No. 10 prospect. After Rosario’s solo shot answered back, the Lugnuts trimmed the deficit to 3-2 in the fourth on an RBI groundout by Rodney Green Jr.
In the ninth, the Lugnuts mounted one last push, loading the bases with a hit and three walks. They scored twice on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly, pulling within a run. But reliever Yorman Gómez stranded the tying and go-ahead runs with a flyout, notching his third four-inning save of the season.
Captains starter Josh Hartle, Cleveland’s No. 22 prospect, improved to 4-1 after allowing just two earned runs across five innings. Grant Judkins took the loss for Lansing, yielding five runs (four earned) in 5.2 innings.
Lake County and Lansing resume the series Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. with a Shepherds-themed Dawg Night promotion. Fans can catch the action on the Bally Sports Live App and MiLB.com, or follow along @LCCaptains on social media.
