The City of Mentor is buzzing with pride as 13-year-old Sebastian Gil prepares to take on the national stage at the Scripps National Spelling Bee. A student at Memorial Middle School, Gil has become a local celebrity, with his name proudly displayed on the schoolās marquee as he readies himself for the biggest competition of his young life.
Sebastian has dedicated himself to daily practice, mastering complex and obscure words that challenge even seasoned spellers. His enthusiasm for the competition is matched by a deep enjoyment of the challenge itselfāa passion that shines through in his preparation.

šØ I-90 Reopens After Evening Crashes in Lake and Ashtabula Counties

Credit: ODOT
Traffic came to a standstill along parts of Interstate 90 in Lake County on Monday evening following at least one serious crash. According to the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), all eastbound lanes were temporarily blocked near Vrooman Road due to the incident. Emergency responders, including a medical helicopter, were dispatched to the scene, as captured by ODOT traffic cameras.
Earlier reports from ODOT indicated that the crash caused delays of up to an hour in the area. By late evening, the roadway had reopened and traffic flow was gradually returning to normal.
Further east, near the Ashtabula County line, westbound lanes of I-90 were also shut down beyond the State Route 528 exit for a separate incident. That section has since cleared, and no additional delays are being reported.

ā¾ Ohtani Stays Hot With Another Leadoff Blast as Dodgers Top Guardians 7-2
Shohei Ohtani sparked the Los Angeles Dodgers' offense with a leadoff home run for the second consecutive game, helping lift the team to a 7-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
Ohtani wasted no time making an impact, launching the first pitch he sawāa low inside fastballāinto the right-field seats for his league-leading 19th home run of the season. It marked his fifth leadoff homer of the year and 17th since he began his MLB career in 2018. Notably, this is the earliest in a season Ohtani has reached 19 home runs, hitting the milestone before June.
The Dodgersā top five hitters proved to be the driving force, combining for seven of the team's eight hits. Will Smith also added a home run, and Teoscar HernĆ”ndez and Max Muncy each contributed run-producing plays in the fifth inning to cushion the lead.
On the mound, Yoshinobu Yamamoto turned in another solid outing. The right-hander went six innings, surrendering two runs while striking out seven. His ERA now stands at an impressive 1.97, ranking sixth across the majors.
Clevelandās offense struggled to find rhythm but found a bright spot in JosĆ© RamĆrez, who extended his hitting streak to a personal-best 19 games, collecting two doubles on the night. Heās batting .387 during the streak with 12 extra-base hits and 11 RBIs.
The series continues with right-hander Dustin May scheduled to start for Los Angeles against Clevelandās Tanner Bibee.
