š° Family Rescued After Sudden River Surge Traps Them in Concord Township
A family of four was safely rescued Monday evening after being stranded by rapidly rising river water at Liberty Hollow Park in Concord Township.
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. when a sudden surge in water levels left one adult and three juveniles unable to return across the river. Emergency crews arrived on scene to find the group trapped on the opposite bank, cut off by the swift current. While the family was not in distress, the water was too dangerous to cross without assistance.
A Lake Metroparks Ranger was ultimately able to guide the group out safely on foot. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The response involved a coordinated effort from several local fire departments, including Fairport Harbor, Painesville City, Perry, Painesville Township, Chardon, Eastlake, Mentor, and Wickliffe. The Lake County Technical Rescue Team also supported the operation.
Liberty Hollow Park, located in the 6700 block of Fay Road, is part of the Lake Metroparks system and features scenic hiking trails and river access, which can become hazardous in certain conditions.

š Holistic Pet Care Offers New Hope for Longer, Healthier Lives
In Richfield, Ohio, holistic veterinary care is making a growing impact, offering new hope to pet owners and helping some animals live longer, more comfortable lives. At Dancing Paws Animal Wellness Center, traditional medicine is being paired with alternative treatments like laser acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, and therapeutic massage.
One patient, a 14-year-old rescue Pit Bull Terrier mix named Archie, is thriving under this integrated approach. Despite facing serious health issuesāincluding prostate cancer, chronic kidney disease, and inflammatory bowel diseaseāArchie remains active and energetic, still racing around the yard like a much younger dog.
Instead of needles, Archie receives laser acupuncture, a painless process that is part of his broader therapy plan. Treatments like these can address a wide range of issues, including pain management, allergies, arthritis, and organ function support, according to veterinarian Dr. Neal Sivula.
Other popular treatments at the center include craniosacral therapy to regulate the nervous system and chiropractic care tailored for pets. The philosophy mirrors human wellness practices, focusing on mobility, alignment, and whole-body balance.
Pet longevity, Dr. Sivula explains, is also supported by consistent exercise (even for indoor cats), proper dental care, and a diet rich in human-grade protein. He recommends feeding pets at least twice a day and supplementing with natural products like fish oil and glucosamine to support joints, skin, digestion, and overall immune health.
Minimizing chemical exposure in the home and yard is another key factor in reducing the risk of cancer. Additionally, more pet owners are embracing a tailored vaccination approach. Blood titer testing helps determine whether a pet needs a particular vaccine, and staggered administration of shots can help avoid adverse reactions.
While formal research is ongoing, many pet owners already report noticeable improvements. For Archie, the difference is clearāhis treatments have given him renewed vitality and comfort, proving to his owner that every effort is worth it.

ā¾ Santanaās Slam Sparks Guardiansā 11-2 Rout of Reds
Carlos Santana delivered a powerful reminder of his longevity and impact on the game Wednesday, launching a grand slam to propel the Cleveland Guardians to an 11-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The victory prevented a season sweep by Reds managerāand former Guardians skipperāTerry Francona.
Santanaās third-inning grand slam came fittingly on the 15th anniversary of his major league debut. It marked his eighth home run of the season and the sixth grand slam of his career, putting Cleveland up 5-0 early in the game.
The Guardians broke the game wide open in the sixth inning with five consecutive hits, including a three-run homer from Lane Thomas, who returned this week from the injured list. Thomas finished with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored in a strong comeback performance.
JosĆ© RamĆrez continued his hot streak at the plate, extending his on-base streak to 37 gamesāthe longest active streak in the majorsāwith an RBI double. That hit also moved him into third place on the Guardiansā all-time doubles list, passing Earl Averill with 380.
Starting pitcher Logan Allen picked up the win, allowing two solo homers over six innings and striking out six. Reds starter Nick Lodolo struggled, lasting just 3 1/3 innings and surrendering six runs.
Despite the lopsided score, tension briefly spiked in the ninth when Cincinnatiās Christian Encarnacion-Strand was hit on the helmet by a 97 mph pitch from Emmanuel Clase. Fortunately, he remained in the game.
Cleveland's 11-run outburst marked a season high, capping off the three-game series with an emphatic victory at home.

ā¾ Rosarioās Late Homer Lifts Captains to 4-3 Victory Over Dragons
The Lake County Captains edged out the Dayton Dragons in a tightly contested 4-3 win, thanks to a clutch two-run homer by Alfonsin Rosario in the seventh inning. The game saw multiple momentum shifts, with both teams capitalizing on early scoring opportunities before the Captains ultimately took control late.
Lake County jumped on the board first in the bottom of the opening frame when Wuilfredo Antunez singled in Jaison Chourio. Dayton answered back in the second inning as Ariel Almonteās double tied the game 1-1. The Captains regained the lead in the bottom half of that inning on a Kevin Rivas RBI single.
The Dragons took their only lead in the fourth, capitalizing on a defensive miscue and scoring two runs to move ahead 3-2. But the turning point came in the seventh inning when Christian Knapczyk reached base, setting the stage for Rosarioās game-winning blast to right fieldāhis tenth home run of the season.
Lake Countyās bullpen held firm in the final innings, striking out the side in both the eighth and ninth to secure the victory. The Captainsā late-game resilience allowed them to flip the momentum and avoid what couldāve been a costly home loss.
