High-Tech Tails: From AI Voices to Doggy Tablets, Pet Wellness Goes Futuristic

Pet wellness is entering a new era — and it’s anything but low-tech. The growing trend of treating pets like family members has sparked a surge in innovative gadgets, high-end wellness products, and AI-powered technology designed to enrich the lives of furry companions.

Today’s pet owners aren’t just feeding their dogs premium kibble — they’re investing in CBD-infused supplements, human-grade hydration systems, personalized tablets, and even AI collars that interpret emotional states. Wellness routines once reserved for humans are now being adapted for pets, with a booming market offering both physical and emotional care for dogs and cats alike.

Among the new wave of gadgets is Dogsplay, a $699 media device that offers music, video chats, photo apps, and entertainment streaming — all designed for dogs. This immersive tech helps reduce separation anxiety by keeping pets connected to their owners and mentally stimulated.

For the pup who needs to hydrate in style, Petcube’s $99.99 fountain mimics natural water streams and purifies H2O with UV-C light and multi-layer filtration. It’s wireless, rechargeable, and bacteria-resistant, aiming to improve pets’ health through better hydration.

Security and independence are also getting a tech upgrade. Pawport, a smart pet door, lets owners schedule curfews, control access via voice assistants like Alexa, and track activity. It works alongside a waterproof Smart Pet Tag and provides personalized access for multi-pet homes.

Perhaps the most jaw-dropping is the Shazam Band, a $495–$595 wearable that gives pets a “voice.” Through AI analysis and owner input, the device builds a profile of the pet's habits, emotions, and environment, translating those into vocal messages. Choose from 27 digital personas to hear what your pet "thinks" — whether they’re hungry, scared, or upset you’re home late.

Other advancements include Traini, a smart collar that reads emotional states through AI-driven bark and vitals analysis, and Tractive, a GPS tracker with real-time location alerts, barking analysis, and heart rate monitoring.

Cats aren’t left out, either. The FutureZeal Z3, dubbed a "wellness sanctuary," is the first intelligent cat grooming pod. It automatically collects loose fur, regulates temperature, and sprays gentle mist to reduce odors and stress.

On the supplement front, products like Buddy and Fi Supplements are gaining traction with formulations that support everything from digestion to joint health. Some even include calming agents like CBD and valerian root. Meanwhile, Zesty Paws is targeting pet obesity with its upcoming “Weight Management Bites,” designed to aid metabolism using ingredients like green tea extract and pumpkin.

As wellness becomes an expected part of pet care, one thing is clear — pampering your pet has officially gone futuristic.

⚾ Guardians Sweep Astros Behind Early Homers and Strong Pitching

The Cleveland Guardians finished a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros on Wednesday with a 4-2 win, sparked by back-to-back home runs in the first inning from Angel Martínez and José Ramírez.

Martínez homered to left, following up his grand slam from Tuesday. Ramírez followed moments later with his third straight game with a homer. He now has four homers and seven RBIs in July.

Starter Slade Cecconi allowed two runs and struck out nine over seven-plus innings. Paul Sewald earned the save with a clean ninth.

Astros pitcher Brandon Walter retired 17 straight after the early damage, but Cleveland struck again in the seventh. Singles from Ramírez and Carlos Santana, followed by a walk and a two-run hit by Johnathan Rodríguez, pushed the lead to 4-0.

Houston trimmed the deficit with RBI doubles from Mauricio Dubón and José Altuve in the eighth but fell short, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

The Guardians, who had lost 10 straight before this series, have now won three in a row. They face the White Sox next, while the Astros have a day off before playing the Rangers.

⚾ Captains Fall Short in 10-9 Shootout Against Whitecaps

The Lake County Captains narrowly lost a high-scoring game Tuesday night, falling 10-9 to the West Michigan Whitecaps in a dramatic battle.

Lake County built a 5-2 lead by the fifth inning, helped by strong hitting and a solo homer from Kevin Rivas. Starter Matt Wilkinson allowed four runs over 5.2 innings, but things unraveled in the sixth when reliever Jack Jasiak gave up six runs in just a third of an inning, giving West Michigan a 10-5 lead.

The Whitecaps’ big inning included a bases-clearing triple and several RBI singles.

Lake County fought back with a solo homer from Jose Devers in the seventh and three more runs in the eighth, but the comeback fell just short. It was their second close loss to West Michigan in a row.
