⛈️ Weekend Weather: Humid, Dry Mornings but Possible Stormy Afternoons
Hot, Humid Weekend Brings Storm Risk Across the Region
A stalled front near the area, paired with building heat and humidity, will drive weather conditions this weekend, setting the stage for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday. While not every location will see rain, a few storms could turn strong to severe.
Friday Evening and Overnight:
Conditions will remain mostly dry through Friday evening with a quiet, warm night ahead. Overnight lows will stay in the mid-70s, offering little relief from the humidity.
Saturday Forecast:
Saturday starts off dry, but by the afternoon, isolated storms will begin to develop in western parts of the region and gradually move east. The day will be hot and sticky, with highs reaching the low 90s and heat index values climbing into the upper 90s.
A few of Saturday’s storms could become severe, especially west of I-77, with the potential for damaging wind gusts and localized flooding from heavy rain. Storms are expected to taper off after sunset, leaving behind a quiet but muggy Saturday night.
Sunday Outlook:
Sunday morning will mirror Saturday with dry conditions early, followed by scattered storms developing in the afternoon as another front approaches. Similar to Saturday, these storms may bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
🎵 Reggae in the Harbor Brings Island Vibes to Fairport This Weekend

Part of the Live at the Lighthouse concert series, the celebration runs from noon to 9 p.m. and blends beachside fun with reggae rhythms.
While the music lineup is still to be announced, guests can expect live performances, a beachside bar, food trucks, and a variety of local vendors and artists. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to relax on the lighthouse lawn.
Make a day of it—spend time at the beach, explore the lighthouse, and enjoy the vibrant harbor scene. With lakefront views and Caribbean-inspired vibes, Reggae in the Harbor is a laid-back summer event for all ages.

🏢 Lake County Sees Modest Rise in Office Vacancies; Mentor Improves
The Cleveland region’s office market held steady in the second quarter of 2025, with a vacancy rate of 9.1% across 146 million square feet of space in eight counties, according to CoStar data.
Lake County, with 5.6 million square feet in 481 office buildings, saw its vacancy rate rise slightly to 3.7%. That’s up 0.6% from the first quarter and 0.2% higher than Q2 2024.
Mentor, which accounts for about 1.5 million square feet—or 30% of Lake County’s total—bucked the county trend. Its vacancy rate dropped to 3.3%, a 0.5% decrease from Q1 2025. However, it’s still 0.5% higher than the adjusted rate from a year ago.
The city’s largest available office spaces include 12,515 square feet at 8339 Tyler Blvd., 10,884 square feet at 9500 Mentor Ave., and 8,313 square feet at 7541–7547 Mentor Ave.
The report was compiled by the City of Mentor’s Planning & Development Department using CoStar data.

⚾ Guardians Drop Extra-Inning Heartbreaker in Doubleheader Split
The Cleveland Guardians came up just short in an 11-inning battle Friday night, falling 5-4 to the Chicago White Sox in the second game of a doubleheader. After winning the opener 4-2, Cleveland couldn’t complete the sweep despite multiple scoring opportunities.
José Ramírez launched a two-run homer and Brayan Rocchio added an RBI double to help build an early lead. Cleveland tied the game in the sixth and went ahead 4-3 on Josh Rojas’ sacrifice fly in the eighth, just before rain began to fall. But Chicago responded in the bottom half to even the score.
The Guardians stranded 14 runners and went 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position. Their best chance came in the 11th with the bases loaded, but Kyle Manzardo grounded into an inning-ending double play. Chicago then walked it off with an infield single that slipped under Kolby Allard’s glove.
Daniel Schneemann contributed a double and a highlight-reel diving catch, while Gavin Williams gave up three runs, including two homers to Lenyn Sosa. Allard took the loss; Mike Vasil earned the win for Chicago.
Cleveland remains ahead in the season series, 4-1, and sends Tanner Bibee to the mound Saturday.

⚾ Whitecaps Crush Captains 12-2 Behind Explosive First Inning
The West Michigan Whitecaps delivered a dominant performance Friday night, rolling past the Lake County Captains with a decisive 12-2 victory.
Lake County's struggles began immediately as starting pitcher Caden Favors was unable to escape the first inning. In just one-third of an inning, Favors surrendered seven runs on four hits—including two home runs—and issued three walks, quickly putting the Captains in a deep hole.
West Michigan wasted no time taking advantage of the shaky start. Seth Stephenson led off the scoring with a solo home run, setting the tone for a relentless offensive attack. The inning escalated when Andrew Jenkins launched a grand slam to left-center, highlighting a seven-run first inning that forced Lake County to turn to their bullpen early.
The Whitecaps kept the pressure on in the second with a run-scoring double from John Peck, and added more damage in the fourth thanks to extra-base hits from Izaac Pacheco and Austin Murr. Jenkins continued his standout night with an RBI single, helping extend the lead to double digits. By the sixth inning, the Whitecaps had pushed their advantage to 12 runs.
Lake County finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the seventh inning with a two-run homer by Jacob Cozart, but the offensive burst came far too late to alter the outcome.
With this dominant win, West Michigan showcased both explosive offense and effective pitching, while Lake County was left searching for answers after a rough night on the mound.
