šŸ‘®šŸ» Mentor Police Department Welcomes Two New School Resource Officers

Mentor Police Department

The Mentor Police Department has welcomed two seasoned law enforcement professionals into its ranks. On Monday, September 8, 2025, Officers Ryan Cueni and John Finucan were officially sworn in, bringing decades of experience to their new roles as School Resource Officers.

Officer Ryan Cueni will now serve the students and staff at Bellflower Elementary. With nearly 30 years in law enforcement, his career began in 1996 with the Grand River Police Department. He has since held a wide range of specialized roles, including detective, SWAT negotiator, range officer, and firearms instructor at the Lakeland Police Academy. Most recently, he served as a Community Service Officer with the Painesville Police Department.

Meanwhile, Officer John Finucan will be stationed at Memorial Middle School. He arrives in Mentor following a distinguished 30-year tenure with the Beachwood Police Department. During his career, he served in various capacities including patrolman, detective, SWAT officer, CVSA (Computer Voice Stress Analyzer) examiner, and evidence technician.

The addition of these two veteran officers highlights the city’s continued commitment to school safety and community engagement. Their wealth of experience is expected to strengthen relationships between students, faculty, and law enforcement, ensuring a secure and supportive environment across the district.

🚨 Man Who Led Police on Wild Chase Through Two Counties Sentenced to Prison

Lake County Jail

An Ashtabula man will spend over a decade in prison following a dramatic carjacking and multi-jurisdiction police chase that unfolded across Lake and Geauga counties earlier this year. Jacob Montgomery, 32, received a sentence ranging from 12 to 17.5 years in prison on Friday, following his guilty plea to multiple felony charges.

The incident began on the evening of May 14, when Willowick police initiated a vehicle pursuit around 8:24 p.m. on Euclid Avenue. The chase entered Willoughby, where local officers assisted by blocking intersections and attempting to use tire deflation devices. The initial pursuit came to an end near Vine and Church streets.

Shortly afterward, a homeowner on Johnnycake Ridge Road reported that a vehicle had crashed in their yard and the suspect had stolen another car from the property. Kirtland police later spotted the stolen vehicle on Ohio Route 306 and attempted a traffic stop. Montgomery fled once again, leading officers on a second chase that stretched into Bainbridge Township in Geauga County.

The pursuit came to a safe conclusion in a parking lot near the intersection of Ohio 306 and U.S. Route 422, where Montgomery was taken into custody with help from several law enforcement agencies.

On August 19, Montgomery pleaded guilty to multiple charges including attempted grand theft, failure to comply with a police order, tampering with evidence, aggravated robbery, vandalism, and possession of cocaine. The sentencing took place in Lake County Common Pleas Court, where Judge Patrick J. Condon handed down the prison term.

šŸ” Fall 2025’s Top Home Trends: Comfort Meets Character in This Season’s Interiors

As autumn arrives, it’s not just your wardrobe that deserves an update—your home does too. Fall 2025 brings a wave of interior design trends that prioritize comfort, personality, and timeless beauty. This season, designers are emphasizing lived-in charm and nostalgic accents, combining heritage pieces with contemporary flair.

Here are the top eight dƩcor trends defining this fall's interiors:

1. Warm, Earthy Palettes

Fall's signature hues—chocolate, toffee, bronze, and soft neutrals—are taking center stage. These comforting tones bring richness and calm to living spaces, perfect for cooler months. Paired with natural materials like linen or leather, these colors create a grounded, welcoming atmosphere.

2. Layering for Depth and Comfort

From rugs to tablecloths to art, layering is key. Mixing patterns, fabrics, and eras gives rooms a thoughtfully curated look. This approach adds visual complexity and invites tactile exploration, making every corner feel lived-in and warm.

3. Mixing Textures

Velvet, shearling, wood, jute—this season is all about unexpected combinations. Diverse textures add a sense of history and personality to a room, while ensuring the space feels cozy and inviting. It's a subtle way to create contrast without overwhelming the space.

4. Marble Accents

Polished stone is making a bold comeback. From candlesticks to coffee tables, marble offers a timeless elegance that feels both modern and enduring. Even small touches, like coasters or trays, bring sophistication and a sense of permanence to a room.

5. Aged Patina Finishes

Designers are embracing items that look like they’ve been passed down through generations. Think distressed wood, weathered metals, and worn leather—materials that tell a story and age gracefully. These finishes bring depth, warmth, and a sense of authenticity to interiors.

6. High-Gloss Surfaces

On the flip side, glossy finishes are adding sleek sophistication to interiors. Lacquered furniture and glass accessories inject brightness and polish, balancing out rustic elements with modern shine. These reflective surfaces subtly energize a room and elevate everyday pieces.

7. Statement Tile

Decorative tile is taking over everything from backsplashes to floors. With bold patterns, textures, and colors, these tiles act as focal points, adding drama and artistry to everyday spaces. The trend invites homeowners to get creative and go bold with surfaces.

8. Art Deco Revival

A resurgence of 1920s glamour is bringing curves, symmetry, and luxe materials back into vogue. Inspired by the opulence of the Art Deco era, this trend infuses spaces with drama, elegance, and vintage charm. It’s a refined yet daring nod to classic design.

This fall is all about embracing contrast: old and new, rough and smooth, earthy and polished. Whether you're adding a single statement tile or fully reimagining your space, Fall 2025 offers a rich design palette to explore.

šŸ“ˆ How to Get Google Reviews Consistently (Without Bugging Your Customers)

Google reviews aren’t just a ā€œnice to haveā€ā€”they’re the new word-of-mouth. The more positive reviews you collect, the faster trust builds with potential customers. You already know reviews improve your ranking, get you noticed and that responding to them shows you care about your customer. The question is: how do you get them to roll in on a consistent basis?

1. Ask at the Right Moment

Timing is everything. Ask for a review right after a great experience—whether that’s after a purchase, a successful service call, or when a customer compliments your team. Strike while the positive feelings are fresh.

2. Make It Easy

Don’t expect people to search for your business and figure it out. Share your direct Google review link by text, email, or QR code. The easier it is, the more likely they’ll do it on the spot. See the image at the top of this article.

3. Train Your Team

Every employee who interacts with customers should know how and when to ask. A simple script like, ā€œWe’d really appreciate a quick Google review—it helps us a tonā€ can make a big difference when used consistently.

4. Use Signage and Cards

Physical reminders work. A small card with a QR code at your checkout counter, or a ā€œReview Us on Googleā€ sign in your store or office, can nudge happy customers before they leave.

5. Automate the Follow-Up

If you have customer emails or phone numbers, set up an automated follow-up that thanks them for their business and includes your review link. Keep it short, friendly, and personal.

6. Incentivize (the Smart Way)

While you can’t buy reviews, you can run fun promotions—like entering reviewers into a monthly prize drawing. The key is to encourage feedback without crossing into pay-for-play territory.

šŸ“ˆ Bottom line: Reviews don’t grow by accident—they grow by intention. By asking often, making it easy, and following up, you can see your Google reviews climb faster than you think. More reviews mean more trust, more clicks, and more customers.
