🎃 Halloween Drive-Thru Returns to Lake Metroparks This October

Spooky Family Fun Returns with Lake Metroparks’ Halloween Drive-Thru

Lake Metroparks Farmpark is once again transforming into a haunted haven for families this October with its popular Halloween Drive-Thru event. Taking place across three weekends—Fridays through Sundays, from October 10 to 26—this spooky spectacle promises thrills and chills from the comfort of your own vehicle.

Guests will cruise along the Farmpark’s decorated trails and roadways, encountering festive displays and eerie characters lurking in the woods. The drive-thru is designed to be family-friendly with a PG-5 rating, meaning parental guidance is suggested for young children.

Showtimes begin at 6:30 p.m. each evening and run every half hour until 8:30 p.m. The earliest time slots, particularly 6:30 and 7:00 p.m., are recommended for families with younger children due to lingering daylight.

Tickets are $27.50 per carload, with a limit of three drive-thru tickets per family or Farmpark membership. All tickets must be purchased online only in advance. Mobile or printed tickets will be scanned upon entry, and attendees are asked to arrive no more than 15 minutes before their scheduled time.

📢 Lake County Urges Residents to Prepare for Emergencies with Alert Tools

Lake County Shares Tips on Staying Informed During Emergencies

The Lake County General Health District is encouraging residents to take proactive steps to stay informed during emergencies. A recent public advisory outlines several recommended tools and services that can provide timely alerts and essential information in critical situations.

Residents are urged to sign up for the Lake County WENS system, which delivers emergency notifications via text, phone, or email. Additional tools include NOAA Weather Radios and smartphone apps that offer weather and emergency alerts, such as the FEMA Mobile App or the Lake County Sheriff’s Office App.

In the event of a siren or emergency alert, individuals should immediately turn to local Emergency Alert Service (EAS) radio or television stations for more details.

🎭 Jekyll & Hyde Musical Brings Gothic Thriller to Willoughby This Fall

Thrilling Musical "Jekyll & Hyde" Opens at The Fine Arts Association This Fall

This fall, The Fine Arts Association in Willoughby is set to stage the gripping musical Jekyll & Hyde, a hauntingly beautiful tale of duality, desire, and darkness. Running from September 26 through October 12, 2025, the production promises an unforgettable theatrical experience driven by a bold pop-rock score and striking visuals.

Adapted from Robert Louis Stevenson's iconic novella, the story follows Dr. Henry Jekyll, a passionate scientist determined to unlock the mysteries of the human psyche. In a desperate attempt to further his research, Jekyll experiments on himself—unintentionally unleashing a monstrous alter ego, Edward Hyde. What follows is a chilling journey as the lines between good and evil blur, leaving a trail of heartbreak and fear.

The musical delves deep into the inner conflict of its lead character, exploring the fragile balance between light and shadow. Set against a backdrop of gothic intrigue, the production features sweeping ballads, powerful ensemble numbers, and emotionally charged performances. At its heart, it’s a story not only of scientific ambition gone wrong, but of love—complicated, passionate, and ultimately tested by the darkest of secrets.

A special opening night celebration on September 26 will offer more than just great theater. Attendees can enjoy food trucks, live music, drinks, and a raffle, adding a festive atmosphere to the premiere of this intense and unforgettable show.

⚾ Guardians Fall to Tigers, AL Central Lead Now Shared, 3 Games to Go

The Detroit Tigers halted an eight-game losing streak with a crucial 4-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night, pulling even with Cleveland for first place in the American League Central. Both teams now sit at 86-73 with just three games left in the regular season.

Jahmai Jones set the tone early by launching a 400-foot leadoff home run off Cleveland starter Parker Messick. The Tigers kept the offense rolling as Wenceel Perez and Riley Greene each added solo shots, all coming off Messick, who gave up four runs across five innings. The loss snapped Cleveland's impressive 19-game streak of allowing two or fewer runs from its starting pitchers — a stretch that tied for the second-longest in modern MLB history.

Detroit used a bullpen approach, with Troy Melton covering 3 2/3 innings and allowing just one run. Brant Hurter earned the win, and Will Vest secured his 22nd save of the season.

Despite the loss, Cleveland saw a historic moment from José Ramírez, who hit an RBI double to become the franchise leader in extra-base hits with 726, surpassing Hall of Famer Earl Averill.

With three games left, both the Tigers and Guardians remain locked in a tense division race. Cleveland holds the head-to-head tiebreaker, having won eight of their 13 matchups this season. Up next, Detroit travels to Boston to face the Red Sox, who are clinging to the AL’s second wild card. Cleveland, meanwhile, stays home to host the struggling Texas Rangers. The Tigers and Guardians also lead the Houston Astros by one game in the race for the final AL wild card spot.

🏈 Farley’s Ground Game, Jones’ Arm Power Cardinals Into Cleveland Heights Showdown

Mentor Cardinals Lean on Star Power Ahead of Cleveland Heights Clash

The Mentor Cardinals are preparing for a tough road matchup Friday night against Cleveland Heights, and so far this fall, they’ve had plenty of firepower to lean on.

The story of the season has been senior running back Jackson Farley, who has put together video-game numbers through just five games. Farley has already racked up 935 yards on the ground, averaging an eye-popping 11.4 yards per carry. He’s also reached the end zone 16 times, giving Mentor a reliable, explosive option every time he touches the ball. His ability to consistently pick up big gains has helped the Cardinals control games from the first quarter to the last.

But Farley isn’t carrying the load alone. Junior quarterback Brogan Jones has shown impressive poise, completing passes at a 72% clip with seven touchdowns and only one interception. His ability to stay efficient and protect the football has added balance to the Cardinals’ attack. On the outside, wide receiver Justen Hodge has emerged as a consistent threat, averaging over 60 yards per game and finding the end zone four times.

Cleveland Heights, which nearly stunned Mentor a year ago, will try to slow down this multi-faceted offense in front of a home crowd. Still, with Farley pounding the rock and Jones keeping defenses honest, the Cardinals look primed to keep their unbeaten season rolling.

🏈 Lake Catholic Rides Four-Game Streak into Showdown with Undefeated Royals

The Jerome T. Osborne Stadium lights will be shining bright Friday night as the Lake Catholic Cougars host the undefeated Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals in a conference clash loaded with intrigue. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Mentor.

In a super-competitive first year of the North Coast Conference, Lake Catholic (4-1) takes its stellar, physical, and aggressive defense into this matchup with plenty of momentum. The Cougars have won four straight since a season-opening loss to Cardinal Mooney, a game in which starting linemen Nathan Zappitelli and David Iannini were sidelined by injuries. Since then, a dominating offensive line and a stingy defense have paved the way.

Offensively, sophomore quarterback Max Pisano has thrown for 415 yards and five touchdowns. Danny Zmorowski anchors the rushing attack with 245 yards and four scores, while Peter Malchesky leads the receiving corps with 13 catches for nearly 200 yards and three touchdowns. Malchesky has also chipped in two interceptions defensively.

The heartbeat of Lake’s defense is senior linebacker Marty Loncar, who has racked up 72 tackles and eight stops for loss. The pass rush has been fierce, totaling 14 sacks, led by junior Michael Barnes with five. Loncar and senior Zach Povejsil have three apiece.

They’ll face a Royals squad (4-0) that prefers to run the ball, amassing nearly 1,200 rushing yards this season. Senior Joey Kopec has 258 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 9.6 yards per carry, while sophomore Tommy Kopec adds 204 yards and three scores. But quarterback Charley Levak has been efficient too, boasting a 155.6 rating with eight touchdowns and no interceptions, including 164 yards and three TDs in last week’s win over Boardman.
