āļø Lake-Effect Snow to Snarl Northeast Ohio Commutes Through Tuesday

Northeast Ohio faces a prolonged stretch of lake-effect snow from late Sunday through Tuesday, bringing hazardous travel conditions during both commutes on Monday. A shift in wind direction allows snow to fall beyond the usual snowbelt regions. Temperatures remain below freezing until mid-week, when a gradual warm-up begins. Snow showers taper off by Wednesday, with breezy but drier weather expected by Thursday. Accumulations will vary depending on where the lake effect snow bands set up. Most forecasters are calling for the city of Mentor to experience 1-3 inches of snow on Monday.

š” How Much Can You Really Get from a Cash-Out Refinance?
A cash-out refinance lets you tap into your home equity by replacing your existing mortgage with a new, larger loanāand taking the difference in cash. But how much can you actually get?
Most lenders cap the loan-to-value ratio (LTV) at 80%, meaning you can borrow up to 80% of your homeās appraised value. Subtract your current mortgage balance and closing costs, and whatās left is your cash-out amount. For example, if your home is worth $400,000 and you owe $250,000, you could borrow up to $320,000āleaving roughly $64,000 in cash after closing costs.
Loan type also matters. While conventional and FHA loans stick to the 80% cap, VA loans may allow you to borrow up to 90% or more. Investment and vacation homes typically have lower LTV limits.
Other key factors that impact your max cash-out include your credit score, debt-to-income ratio, and the homeās appraised value. Even modest home appreciation can increase how much equity you can access.
While it may be tempting to take the maximum amount, keep in mind that a larger loan means higher monthly payments. If you're using the funds to improve your home or consolidate debt, a cash-out refinance can be a smart moveājust be sure it fits your long-term financial goals.

š Special Teams Collapse Sinks Browns in Costly Road Loss to Jets
The Brownsā road struggles continued Sunday as they fell 27-20 to the Jets, their 13th straight loss away from home, despite a new offensive voice in coordinator Tommy Rees.
Cleveland started strong, scoring first on a 95-yard drive capped by a David Njoku touchdown. But two Jets return touchdownsāone on a kickoff, one on a puntājust 36 seconds apart turned the tide and gave New York a 14-7 lead.
Rees introduced a more aggressive offensive style, but dropped passes, penalties, and six sacks on Dillon Gabriel undermined the effort. Gabriel finished 17-of-32 for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Jerry Jeudy had his best outing of the season with 78 yards and a touchdown on six catches, while rookie back Quinshon Judkins added 75 rushing yards.
The Brownsā defense held strong, limiting Jets QB Justin Fields to 11 passing yards through three quarters and forcing a key interception by Ronnie Hickman. But in the fourth, Fields connected with Breece Hall on a 42-yard screen to break a 17-17 tie. Hall later added a 30-yard run to set up a field goal that pushed New York ahead 27-17.
The Browns (2-7) will try to regroup as theyāll face the division-leading Ravens next Sunday.

š Mentorās Historic Volleyball Season Ends in State Final Loss to Seton
Mentor volleyballās incredible postseason run came to an end on Nov. 9, as the Cardinals fell in straight sets to undefeated Seton in the Division I state championship match at Wright State.
The 3-0 loss (25-23, 25-20, 25-19) gave Seton its second straight title and eighth overall. For Mentor, it marked only the second state runner-up finish in program history and the first title match appearance since 1998.
The Cardinals earned their place in the final with a 3-1 win over Olentangy Orange in the semifinals, breaking a 1-1 tie with gritty play down the stretch. Kayden McKinney had 15 kills in that match, while Melody Garrett added 18 kills and 11 digs. Ava Garrett led with 17 digs.
Against Seton, Mentor kept each set competitive, even leading late in the first before Seton pulled ahead with two key kills. McKinney and Garrett each finished with 10 kills in the final, while freshman Ashlyn McKinney added seven and Ava Garrett tallied 14 digs.
Despite the loss, Mentorās season was a defining one. Under head coach Sam Weaverāa former player on Mentorās last state-bound team in 2007āthe Cardinals captured their third straight GCC and district titles, and finally advanced beyond the regional level.
The senior core of McKinney, Garrett, and Anna Cassidy helped reshape the programās expectations, while younger players like Ava Garrett and Ashlyn McKinney gained valuable experience for the future.
