š° Slower Increases, Bigger Savings: What Ohioās New Tax Laws Mean for You
DeWine Signs $3 Billion Property Tax Reform Package Aimed at Homeowner Relief
Ohio changed its property tax rules to make tax bills more predictable and affordable for homeowners.
Hereās the big picture:
Homeowners get more help. If you own and live in your home, the state will now cover a larger share of your property tax bill.
Rentals get less help. Tax breaks that helped landlords were removed to pay for homeowner relief.
Automatic tax hikes are slowed. Property taxes can still go up, but they canāt rise as fast when home values spike.
School tax rules were adjusted. Some school taxes now count differently, which helps prevent future increases.
Local officials get flexibility. Counties can lower certain taxes if they decide too much money is being collected.
Bottom line:
Most homeowners should see slower increases and lower property tax bills over time, with some changes starting soon and others showing up in 2027. The goal is to stop sudden tax spikes and make bills easier to plan for.

š Lake County Imagination Library Seeks Support to Keep Books Flowing
Lifeline, Inc. has relaunched its holiday fundraising campaign for the Lake County Imagination Library, aiming to raise $8,000 to provide free books to young children in January. The program, started in 2020, mails one new book each month to children under 5 at no cost to families. It currently serves over 7,000 children in Lake Countyāabout 65% of those eligible.
The initiative, part of Dolly Partonās Imagination Library of Ohio, supports early childhood literacy, helping kids build strong language skills before kindergarten. Research shows children with books at home tend to stay in school longer and are better prepared for future learning. Lifeline covers half the programās cost and relies on donations to keep it running year-round.
