Do red cars cost more to insure?

You may have heard the myth that red cars cost more to insure, often with varying reasons why. The truth is, the color of your car has nothing to do with your premium. Insurance companies are more interested in your vehicle’s make, model, age, safety features, and your driving history. What’s not a myth, though — is that people really can save a ton of money by switching insurers. Check out Money’s car insurance tool to see if you could, too.

šŸŽ„ Award-Winning Holiday Display in Willoughby Cut Short Over Safety Concerns

The Lunar Family Lights display in Willoughby—recently crowned a winner on The Great Christmas Light Fight—has ended its season early following multiple threats of physical violence.

Created by Candice and Brad Lunar with the help of volunteers, the festive display was designed to bring holiday cheer and raise funds for Give Kids the World, a charity that provides free vacations to families with critically ill children.

Despite widespread praise, the show attracted unexpected aggression. The family shared on Facebook they were shutting down after three individuals threatened them or their neighbors. Police were contacted due to safety concerns.

Willoughby Police Lt. Mike Sevel stressed that the holidays should be a time for kindness, not conflict.

The Lunars emphasized that the issues stemmed from a few people, while most visitors were supportive and thankful for their efforts.

While they were already planning to pause the display in 2026, the family confirmed the lights will return in the future. For now, they are stepping away to focus on their core mission—bringing joy and light to the community.

šŸš‚ Rails Through Time: The Story of Mentor’s Historic Train Depot

Before automobiles became common, railroads were vital for long-distance travel—and Mentor, Ohio, was right on track. Rails reached the area in the 1850s, and by late 1852, steam locomotives connected Cleveland to the Pennsylvania border. Just east of Center Street, the Mentor Train Depot quickly became an important hub for passengers and freight.

In 1890, the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway opened a new passenger depot, replacing an older structure once visited by future president James A. Garfield. As rail use expanded, the station became central to Mentor’s development.

A tragic event occurred on June 21, 1905, when the famed 20th Century Limited—known for luxury and speed—derailed near the depot. Traveling about 70 mph, the eastbound train struck an open switch, jumped the track, and slammed into the freight depot across the rails. The crash cut a 300-foot path, destroyed the structure, and killed 19 passengers. A new brick freight house was built in 1909 to replace the one lost.

In 1914, the station became part of the New York Central Railroad after its merger with LS&MS. Passenger service ended in the summer of 1948. Since then, the historic building at 8455 Station Street has housed several restaurants, maintaining its presence in the community.

Now a stop on the Mentor History Trail, the depot remains a symbol of the city’s transportation roots and enduring resilience.

Here’s an un-boring way to invest that billionaires have quietly leveraged for decades

If you have enough money that you think about buckets for your capital…

Ever invest in something you know will have low returns—just for the sake of diversifying?

CDs… Bonds… REITs… :(

Sure, these ā€œboringā€ investments have some merits. But you probably overlooked one historically exclusive asset class:

It’s been famously leveraged by billionaires like Bezos and Gates, but just never been widely accessible until now.

It outpaced the S&P 500 (!) overall WITH low correlation to stocks, 1995 to 2025.*

It’s not private equity or real estate. Surprisingly, it’s postwar and contemporary art.

And since 2019, over 70,000 people have started investing in SHARES of artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso through a platform called Masterworks.

ā„ļø Why Your House Feels Cold—Even When the Heat Is Running & What to Do

Even when the thermostat says the house is warm, many Mentor homeowners notice that their rooms still feel cold during the winter. This is a common frustration in Northeast Ohio, especially during long stretches of freezing temperatures and lake-effect weather. In most cases, the issue isn’t that the furnace isn’t working—it’s that heat isn’t staying where it belongs or isn’t being distributed evenly throughout the home.

One of the biggest reasons a house feels cold is heat loss. Warm air escapes through small gaps around windows and doors, attic hatches, electrical outlets on exterior walls, and even through older insulation that no longer performs well. These leaks may seem minor, but together they can significantly reduce comfort. Simple DIY fixes such as replacing worn weatherstripping, sealing gaps with caulk, and using draft blockers at exterior doors can make an immediate difference.

Cold floors are another major contributor. Heat rises, which means the warmest air collects near the ceiling while colder air settles near the ground. Homes with unfinished basements, crawl spaces, or tile and hardwood flooring often feel colder overall, even if the air temperature is technically comfortable. Area rugs, insulated curtains, and making sure basement doors are closed can help keep warmth where you need it.

Airflow problems also play a role. Blocked vents, closed registers, or furniture placed over floor vents can prevent warm air from circulating properly, creating cold spots throughout the house. Making sure vents are open and unobstructed is an easy fix that many homeowners overlook.

Low indoor humidity can also make your home feel colder than it actually is. Dry winter air pulls moisture from your skin, making you feel chilled. Using a humidifier—either portable or whole-home—can improve comfort without turning up the heat.

In some cases, uneven temperatures or persistent cold rooms may point to deeper issues, such as aging insulation, duct leaks, or an HVAC system that isn’t operating efficiently. If DIY solutions don’t noticeably improve comfort, a professional evaluation may help identify underlying problems before they lead to higher energy bills or mid-winter breakdowns.

The good news is that many winter comfort issues are fixable. A few small adjustments now can make your home feel warmer, more comfortable, and more efficient for the rest of the season—and help you avoid cranking the thermostat higher than necessary.

šŸ€ Cavs End Skid as Mitchell, Hunter Lead Win Over Hornets

Cavs Snap Skid with 139-132 Win Over Hornets, Mitchell Drops 30

The Cavaliers shook off a three-game losing streak in a high-scoring showdown Monday night, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 139-132 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Donovan Mitchell led the way with 30 points, while De’Andre Hunter delivered a strong second-half surge, finishing with 27 points — 15 of them after halftime. Darius Garland added a double-double with 27 points and 10 assists, helping Cleveland notch its first home win since early December.

The Cavaliers built momentum in the third quarter, sparked by Hunter’s toughness. After taking a flagrant foul to the face from Charlotte's Moussa Diabate, Hunter stayed in the game, hit both free throws, then buried a three-pointer on the next possession to extend Cleveland’s lead to double digits.

Dean Wade also chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, as the Cavaliers stretched their largest lead to 19 late in the fourth quarter.

Charlotte kept the pace early, led by LaMelo Ball’s 23 points and six three-pointers. Rookie Kon Knueppel, who set an NBA record by reaching 100 career threes in just 29 games, added 20 points, matching fellow young standout Brandon Miller.

Cleveland moves to 2-5 at home since Nov. 30 and now looks to build momentum heading into a Christmas Day matchup in New York.
