📊 Mentor Among Ohio’s Best for Low Unemployment Rates

City of Mentor

Mentor’s Unemployment Holds Steady Near Historic Lows in November 2025

The City of Mentor reported a low unemployment rate of 2.9% for November 2025, showing only a slight uptick from 2.8% during the same month last year. Lake County mirrored this trend with a 3.0% unemployment rate in November 2025, compared to 2.9% in November 2024.

Mentor remains one of the top-performing cities in Ohio when it comes to job stability. Among Ohio cities with populations of 50,000 or more, only Lakewood reported a lower unemployment rate at 2.6%. Mentor followed at 2.9%, with Parma and Cleveland Heights at 3.1% and 3.2% respectively.

Despite the low jobless rate, Mentor’s civilian labor force saw a reduction of 400 workers, bringing the total to approximately 26,000.

Statewide, Ohio's unemployment rate improved slightly over the year, dropping from 4.2% in November 2024 to 3.9% in November 2025.

These numbers, released by the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, highlight Mentor’s continued economic stability heading into the winter months.

🤧 Stay Strong This Winter: A Holistic Guide to Beating Cold and Flu Season

Beat the Cold and Flu Season: A Holistic Approach

The winter months can be a breeding ground for colds and flu. While there’s no guaranteed way to avoid getting sick, supporting your immune system with the right foods, supplements, and lifestyle habits can make a big difference.

Key Immune-Supporting Nutrients

  • Vitamin C – Found in citrus fruits, berries, and kiwi, it supports white blood cell production to help fight infection.

  • Vitamin D – Often low in winter due to limited sunlight. Fatty fish like salmon or a quality supplement can help maintain healthy levels.

  • Probiotics – Yogurt and fermented foods support gut health, which plays a major role in immune function.

  • Zinc – Helps regulate immune cells and may shorten the duration of colds. Found in pumpkin seeds, beef, and oysters.

  • Elderberry – Rich in antioxidants and may help reduce the severity and length of cold and flu symptoms.

Lifestyle Matters Too

A strong immune system isn’t built on supplements alone. Prioritize:

  • 7–8 hours of quality sleep

  • Stress-reducing practices like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing

  • Staying hydrated

  • Limiting sugar intake

  • Regular movement

By combining nourishing foods, targeted supplements, and healthy daily habits, you can better support your immune system and lower your chances of getting sidelined this winter.

🏈 Browns’ Coaching Search Focuses on Offense, McDaniel Could Be the Pick

The Cleveland Browns are over a week into their head coaching search, having interviewed or requested interviews with nine candidates, most of whom bring offensive backgrounds. Rising names like Jacksonville’s Grant Udinski and the Rams’ Nate Scheelhaase have drawn attention, though their youth presents a risk.

Veteran options remain in the mix, including defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz and former Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Mike McDaniel, formerly with the Dolphins and a past Browns assistant, also interviewed recently and is gaining traction as a top contender. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, McDaniel may be Cleveland’s leading choice.

McDaniel’s offensive innovation and success with quarterbacks like Tua Tagovailoa make him a strong fit for a franchise long plagued by instability at the position. A potential pairing with Schwartz could balance offensive creativity with defensive experience — a combination McDaniel is reportedly open to.

Cleveland holds the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, with speculation they’ll target a wide receiver or left tackle rather than a quarterback. However, Shedeur Sanders remains a possible option and could flourish under a coach like McDaniel.

Udinski, just 29, has worked with QBs like Sam Darnold and Trevor Lawrence, but his age may be a drawback. While his rapid ascent is impressive, the Browns may prioritize experience over excitement.
