🥶 Wind Chills Near -20° and Heavy Snow Target Northeast Ohio
Several local schools — including Mentor, Lake Catholic, and Mentor Christian — canceled classes early Monday due to incoming hazardous winter weather. The move came ahead of a powerful Arctic front expected to bring extreme cold and lake-effect snow to Northeast Ohio.
By Tuesday morning, temperatures will dip to around zero degrees, but with strong winds, it will feel like 15 to 20 degrees below zero. These dangerous wind chills may lead to more school delays or closures.
Lake-effect snow showers will develop tonight, especially impacting areas like Erie, PA, and Buffalo, NY. Locally, communities from Euclid to Conneaut along the lakeshore may also see accumulating snow.
East of Cleveland, more than 3 inches of snow is possible. Lake and Ashtabula counties could see up to 6 inches, with the highest totals — 6 to 12 inches — likely in northern Ashtabula County.
A fast-moving clipper system arrives Wednesday, bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow along with gusty winds and reinforcing cold air. Though not typically major snow-makers, clippers often lead to difficult travel conditions.

📰 Honor a Hero: Mentor’s Banner Program Returns for 2026 Season
Mentor’s Hometown Heroes Banner Program Returns for 2026
The City of Mentor invites the community to honor local military members through its 2026 Hometown Heroes Banner Program. Launched in 2017, the program pays tribute to current and former Mentor residents who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, or Coast Guard.
Banners featuring each honoree will hang on light posts along Center Street—between I-90 and Mentor Avenue—from Memorial Day through Veterans Day. These double-sided banners, measuring 30 by 60 inches, offer families a special way to recognize a loved one’s service. After the season, banners are returned to sponsors as keepsakes.
Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Each sponsorship costs $100 to cover production. Applications are due by April 15, 2026, or sooner if spots fill up. Banners will be available for pickup after November 15, 2026.
Please note: the City cannot replace banners that are lost or damaged due to weather, vandalism, or aging.

But what can you actually DO about the proclaimed ‘AI bubble’? Billionaires know an alternative…
Sure, if you held your stocks since the dotcom bubble, you would’ve been up—eventually. But three years after the dot-com bust the S&P 500 was still far down from its peak. So, how else can you invest when almost every market is tied to stocks?
Lo and behold, billionaires have an alternative way to diversify: allocate to a physical asset class that outpaced the S&P by 15% from 1995 to 2025, with almost no correlation to equities. It’s part of a massive global market, long leveraged by the ultra-wealthy (Bezos, Gates, Rockefellers etc).

🏡 Bold Hues and Cozy Retreats Dominate 2026 Home Design Trends

2026 Home Design Trends Embrace Color, Comfort, and Personal Style
Home design in 2026 is all about self-expression, with homeowners embracing interiors that reflect their personalities and lifestyles. According to Zillow's latest Home Trends Report, people are moving away from traditional layouts in favor of bold colors and cozy, multi-use spaces.
Color-drenched rooms are gaining momentum, replacing the once-dominant neutral palettes. Covering walls, trim, and ceilings in a single vivid hue is becoming a popular way to infuse homes with character. Zillow reports a 149% rise in listings featuring this design style, showing that buyers are responding to bolder aesthetics.
Reading nooks are also having a moment. Interest in these cozy spots has grown by 48%, as homeowners carve out quiet spaces for rest and hobbies. Often tucked into corners or under stairs, they offer both charm and function.
At the same time, homes are becoming more multifunctional, with additions like backyard pickleball courts, golf simulators, and even batting cages. These features not only support wellness and play but can also raise home values—golf simulators, for example, may increase a home’s sale price by up to 1.4%.
Beyond amenities, there's a shift toward artisan details, vintage touches, and whimsical elements, marking a move away from luxury-focused design. Instead of marble sinks and juice bars, homeowners are choosing meaningful, personalized features.
Whether it’s bold paint, cozy corners, or lifestyle spaces, 2026 home trends are all about creating homes that feel personal, functional, and emotionally connected.

🏀 Thunder Rain Down Threes in 136-104 Rout Over Cavaliers
The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered a commanding 136-104 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, improving to an NBA-best 36-8. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 30 points, his 30th 30-point game this season, while Chet Holmgren added 28 in the blowout victory.
Oklahoma City was red-hot from deep, hitting 23 three-pointers and shooting nearly 49% from beyond the arc. Luguentz Dort added 18 points with five threes, and Isaiah Joe chipped in 16. The Thunder pulled away late in the second quarter and sealed the game with a barrage of threes in the fourth, going 10-of-13 from distance.
Cleveland had no answers, suffering its worst regular-season loss in nearly two years. The Cavaliers made just 8 of 35 from deep and fell to 14-11 at home. Donovan Mitchell led the team with 19 points, while Jaylon Tyson had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Jarrett Allen added 16 in his 600th NBA game.
Despite missing key players due to injury, including Jalen Williams, the Thunder controlled the game throughout, showcasing their depth and momentum as the league’s top team. The Cavaliers play next at Charlotte on Wednesday.
