📰 Mentor Awards Bid for Blossom Drive Sewer Project to TK Excavating
Mentor Council Approves Contract for Blossom Drive Sewer Upgrade
Mentor City Council has approved a construction bid for a long-anticipated sewer improvement project on Blossom Drive. The contract was awarded to TK Excavating and Grading LLC of Girard, which submitted the lowest of 11 bids at $162,847—well below the city’s estimated construction cost of $220,000.
The project, designed to improve stormwater flow, involves replacing an existing undersized 8-inch storm sewer with a more efficient 12-inch pipe along the eastern portion of Blossom Drive. The new sewer line will also be extended westward to the intersection with Parker Drive.
Additional work includes installing catch basins in the tree lawn, regrading surrounding areas to ensure proper drainage, and repairing driveway aprons and road surfaces impacted during construction.
The Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) is contributing $100,400 in state funding, covering up to half of the total project cost.
Construction is expected to be completed by June 30.
Blossom Drive is located off Little Mountain Road, just south of Mentor Avenue and near the Wildwood Cultural Center.

🏈 Jesse Minter Withdraws from Browns HC Search, Leaving Four Finalists
Browns Narrow Head Coach Search as Jesse Minter Withdraws
The Cleveland Browns' head coaching search is down to four finalists after Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter withdrew from consideration. Minter and the team mutually agreed to cancel his second interview, as he focuses on other openings he sees as more promising. He has already had second interviews with teams like the Raiders and Ravens.
His decision follows former Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, who canceled his interview to join the Chargers as offensive coordinator.
Remaining candidates are Browns defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski, and Rams pass game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.
Schwartz and Monken have completed second interviews. Schwartz, the only finalist with head coaching experience, has turned the Browns’ defense into one of the league’s best. The team hopes to keep him as defensive coordinator if he isn’t promoted.
Monken, Cleveland’s former offensive coordinator, helped Lamar Jackson earn a second MVP in Baltimore. If hired, Monken may retain Schwartz and build out his offensive staff.
The Browns are also intrigued by Udinski and Scheelhaase, two rising young coaches. Udinski, just 30, would be the youngest head coach in NFL history. Scheelhaase, praised for his leadership, will be available after Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
Cleveland is open to hiring a younger coach with veteran support. One more diverse interview is also required to meet the NFL’s Rooney Rule.
With finalists set, the Browns are balancing experience and potential as the decision nears.
