❄️ Northeast Ohio Braces for Snowy Start to Week Under Weather Advisory

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of Northeast Ohio as colder air pushes into the region.

Snow showers will intensify after sunset, creating hazardous travel conditions. The Monday morning commute is expected to be challenging, especially where heavier snow bands or brief squalls develop. Wind gusts up to 30 mph may reduce visibility and make roads slick.

Snow will continue through Monday, shifting toward the snow belt by afternoon. Temperatures will steadily fall, reaching around 20 degrees by sunset. Gusty winds up to 40 mph will add to the bitter conditions.

Most areas, including Mentor, are forecast to receive between one and three inches of snow by late Monday, while snow belt communities further inland could see four to nine inches.

📰 Recall Issued for 11,000 Smoke Alarms Sold on Amazon

A recall has been issued for LShome Photoelectric Smoke Alarms sold through Amazon after officials identified a defect that could delay the alarm from sounding.

Approximately 11,000 units are affected by the recall. The issue raises concerns that the devices may not activate quickly enough in the event of a fire, potentially posing a safety risk to consumers.

Customers who purchased the recalled smoke alarms are urged to stop using them and follow recall instructions provided by the manufacturer or retailer.

🏘️ Ohio Housing Market Enters a “Slow Thaw” as Spring 2026 Approaches

January 2026 housing data suggests a market that’s cooling—but not collapsing.

Nationally, pending home sales slipped 0.8% from December and remain slightly below last year’s pace. Elevated mortgage rates and limited inventory continue to temper buyer activity. However, the Midwest showed monthly improvement, signaling that certain regions—including Ohio—may be entering a more balanced phase.

Across Ohio, 6,539 homes sold in January, down 7.6% from a year ago. Yet median prices climbed 7.4% to $247,000, and active listings rose 2.7%. This mix of fewer closings, rising prices, and expanding inventory reflects normalization after the pandemic-era frenzy.

In Northeast Ohio—including Cleveland, Akron, and Mentor—the shift is even clearer. Price growth is projected at a modest 2–3% through 2026, signaling stability rather than overheating. Inventory is gradually improving, giving buyers more choice and negotiation room. Well-priced homes still attract strong interest, but extreme bidding wars are far less common than in 2021–2022.

This spring is shaping up as a “skills market.” Buyers benefit from more options and less pressure. Sellers can still achieve strong results, but strategic pricing and presentation are essential.

Looking ahead, forecasts suggest improving conditions in 2026. Existing-home sales nationally are expected to rebound as mortgage rates trend closer to 6%, with prices projected to rise modestly.

For Ohio and Northeast Ohio, the message is straightforward: the frenzy may be over, but opportunity remains strong for informed buyers and sellers who understand the market’s new rhythm.

🏀 Thunder Drain 21 3-Pointers to Top Cavaliers, Snap 7-Game Win Streak

Despite missing several key players, the Oklahoma City Thunder used a dominant performance from beyond the arc to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 121-113 on Sunday night, snapping Cleveland’s seven-game winning streak.

Isaiah Joe scored 22 points and made six 3-pointers, while Cason Wallace added 20 points and 10 assists. Chet Holmgren contributed 17 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks as Oklahoma City improved to 44-14.

The Thunder played without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Ajay Mitchell and Alex Caruso, but shot 51.2% from 3-point range, hitting 21 of 41 attempts. They also turned 17 Cleveland turnovers into 31 points.

Cleveland, now 36-22, got 20 points each from Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Sam Merrill but shot just 33.3% from deep. Oklahoma City raced to a 28-5 lead behind five early 3-pointers and carried a 64-55 advantage into halftime.

The Cavaliers briefly took their first lead in the third quarter, and the teams entered the fourth tied at 86. Oklahoma City regained control with consecutive 3-pointers and pulled away late, sealing the win with strong fourth-quarter play from Isaiah Hartenstein.

Cleveland returns home to host New York on Tuesday.
