🌠 Meteor Explosion Triggers Sonic Boom Across Northeast Ohio

North Olmsted Schools/AP
A loud boom heard across Northeast Ohio on Tuesday morning was traced to a meteor breaking apart in the atmosphere, according to NASA.
The space agency confirmed the meteor appeared around 8:57 a.m. over northern Ohio near Medina. Witnesses across multiple states reported seeing a bright fireball streak across the daytime sky.
NASA data indicates the object measured roughly six feet in diameter and weighed about seven tons. It entered the atmosphere at nearly 40,000 miles per hour, first becoming visible about 50 miles above Lake Erie near Lorain. The meteor then traveled more than 30 miles before breaking apart high above the region north of Medina, scattering fragments that may have reached the ground in the surrounding area.
The breakup released energy equivalent to about 250 tons of TNT, producing a pressure wave that caused the powerful boom heard and felt across several counties.
Reports of the fireball extended far beyond Ohio, with sightings logged from states including Virginia, Illinois, and New York, as well as parts of Canada. Meteorologists noted that while most meteors burn up too high to be heard, this one descended low enough in the atmosphere to generate a noticeable sonic boom felt across much of the region.

🛑 Mentor Plans Permanent Home for Long-Running Safety Town Program
The city of Mentor is planning a permanent home for Safety Town, a program that has taught children ages 4 to 6 important safety skills for nearly 40 years without a dedicated location.
The new site will be built on Jackson Street at the Safety Village and Firehouse Museum in central Mentor, with a projected opening in summer 2027. This year’s program will remain at its current school location.
Organizers say the program focuses on preventing common childhood injuries through education and awareness. Run by the Junior Women’s Club of Mentor, Safety Town has historically moved between locations, making a permanent site a major step forward.
The new facility will allow for more interactive learning, featuring elements like working traffic lights, battery-powered vehicles, and robotics to simulate real-world safety situations.
Leaders say the lessons children learn often extend beyond the program, influencing safety habits at home and in everyday life.

🌞 Spring Reset: 5 Easy Ways to Feel Better Starting Today

Spring Health Reset: 5 Simple Ways to Feel Better This Month
After a long Northeast Ohio winter, most of us are feeling it—low energy, stiff joints, maybe a few extra pounds. The good news? You don’t need a major overhaul to feel better. A few small changes can make a big difference right now.
Here are five simple ways to reset your health this spring:
1. Get Outside (Even for 10 Minutes)
Fresh air and sunlight help boost your mood, improve sleep, and increase energy. A short daily walk—even around your neighborhood—can do wonders.
2. Add Fiber, Not Restrictions
Instead of cutting foods out, try adding more fiber. Think fruits, vegetables, oats, and beans. It helps digestion, keeps you full longer, and supports heart health.
3. Hydrate Like It Matters (Because It Does)
Many people walk around slightly dehydrated without realizing it. Aim to drink more water throughout the day—especially as temperatures begin to rise.
4. Move Your Body—Gently
You don’t need an intense workout. Start with light movement: walking, stretching, or a short bike ride. The goal is consistency, not perfection.
5. Clean Up Your Sleep Routine
Better sleep = better everything. Try going to bed at the same time each night, limit screens before bed, and keep your room cool and dark.
Spring is the perfect time to reset—not with pressure, but with simple habits that actually stick. Start with just one or two of these and build from there.
Your future self will thank you.

🏀 Mobley, Harden Power Cavaliers Past Injury-Depleted Bucks
The Cleveland Cavaliers relied on strong performances from Evan Mobley and James Harden to earn a 123-116 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, opening a three-game road trip with momentum.
Mobley recorded 27 points and 15 rebounds, while Harden added 27 points. Cleveland played without Jarrett Allen, who remains out with a knee issue. Milwaukee continued to miss Giannis Antetokounmpo due to injury, along with Myles Turner, leaving the team short-handed.
The game stayed close throughout, with multiple lead changes. Cleveland took control in the fourth quarter after a key three-pointer from Sam Merrill sparked a decisive run. Milwaukee briefly cut the deficit, but the Cavaliers responded and held a steady lead late.
Kevin Porter Jr. led the Bucks with 25 points and 10 assists, while Donovan Mitchell and Merrill contributed important scoring for Cleveland. Despite Milwaukee’s strong shooting from beyond the arc, Cleveland gained the edge at the free-throw line, helping secure the victory.

⚾ Guardians Depth Tested Early as Injuries Open Doors for Key Contributors
As spring training wraps up, the Cleveland Guardians are finalizing their roster and preparing for Opening Day. While the team has avoided major injuries, a few setbacks are already influencing early-season plans and could reshape roles across the roster.
Gabriel Arias has become increasingly important due to injuries to Daniel Schneemann and José Ramírez. Though neither issue is expected to linger long-term, both could limit early availability—especially Ramírez, whose role at third base is critical. Arias, originally slated to start at shortstop, now offers valuable flexibility, likely seeing time at third while continuing in a utility role if needed.
In the outfield, Petey Halpin’s role could grow as George Valera works back from a mild calf strain. While Valera has resumed some activities, the team may take a cautious approach given his injury history. That could give Halpin—who can handle all three outfield spots and has shown surprising power this spring—a chance to step into more consistent playing time.
On the pitching side, Peyton Pallette is emerging as a bullpen option after overcoming a shoulder issue. The Rule 5 pick has impressed with strong spring performances, and his role could expand further due to a forearm injury to Hunter Gaddis. Although not considered serious, the team may ease Gaddis back after his heavy workload, opening the door for Pallette to contribute early.
As the season nears, Cleveland’s depth will be tested, with Arias, Halpin, and Pallette positioned to take on larger roles.
