⛈️ Stormy Night Gives Way to Rainy Wednesday, Warmer Ahead
Northeast Ohio is waking up Wednesday after a turbulent Tuesday evening that brought severe storms across the region. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remained in effect through the night as two rounds of storms moved through, producing strong wind gusts, hail, and isolated tornado threats. An earlier tornado warning for Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake counties expired after the first wave passed.
The storms downed trees, caused scattered power outages, and led to localized damage in several communities. A second round followed later Tuesday night as a cold front pushed through, bringing additional heavy rain and gusty conditions.
Showers are lingering into Wednesday, with periods of steady rain expected throughout the day. Rainfall totals could reach up to two inches in some areas, raising concerns about minor flooding. Temperatures will stay cool near the lakeshore, with slightly warmer conditions inland.
By Thursday, warmer air returns, bringing sunshine and a noticeable jump in temperatures.
💰 Local Man Wins Jackpot Thanks To Clerk’s Error: Ohio Lottery

A Lake County resident turned a retail mistake into a $150,000 windfall this week after an Ohio Lottery clerk’s error resulted in a jackpot-winning ticket. The man, whose identity remains withheld by lottery officials, purchased the ticket at a local retail location when the clerk accidentally printed a different game or wager than requested. Rather than asking for a correction, the Lake County man kept the ticket, which ultimately matched the numbers required for the six-figure prize.
Ohio Lottery officials confirmed the win and noted the unusual circumstances surrounding the payout. Errors at the counter typically lead to voided transactions, but this specific mistake aligned perfectly with the drawing results. The winner has already claimed the prize, marking one of the more significant local lottery payouts in recent months.
This unexpected local win serves as a high-stakes example of how a simple clerical slip can change a resident's financial situation. While most lottery errors are routine, this $150,000 payout remains a documented exception to the rule. Residents should remember to verify all tickets and game rules before leaving the retail counter to ensure they are participating in their intended drawings. Keep an eye on local retail outlets as the Ohio Lottery continues its regular schedule of daily and weekly drawings.

How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better
You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.
CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.
Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.

🥱 Why People Feel More Mentally Drained Than Physically Tired Right Now

If you’ve been feeling exhausted lately—even after a full night’s sleep—you’re not alone. And it’s probably not physical fatigue.
What many people are experiencing is mental overload. Every small decision throughout the day—answering texts, checking notifications, adjusting plans, even choosing what to watch—adds up. This creates what experts often describe as “decision residue,” where your brain never fully resets between tasks.
The common mistake is thinking this kind of exhaustion can be fixed with rest. But passive downtime—like scrolling your phone or watching videos—still keeps your brain engaged. You may be sitting still, but mentally, you’re still working.
What’s changed is how little true mental downtime we have left. Moments that used to be quiet—waiting in line, sitting at a red light, walking between places—are now filled with constant input. There’s almost no space left for your brain to process and reset.
That’s why real recovery today isn’t about doing nothing physically—it’s about creating moments of mental silence. Even short breaks without input can help your brain clear the backlog and restore focus.
If you’ve been feeling drained for no clear reason, it may not be your body that needs rest—it’s your mind.

🥎 Strong Effort Falls Short for Cardinals Against Falcons
The Mentor Cardinals girls softball team came up just short Tuesday, falling 2-1 to the undefeated Austintown-Fitch Falcons, a program that has captured two Division I state titles in the past three seasons.
Mentor held its own against one of the state’s top teams, keeping the game close throughout. Austintown-Fitch built a 2-0 lead before the Cardinals responded in the fifth inning with a home run from Kathryn Bouffard, accounting for their only run.
Offense was limited, as Mentor managed four hits against strong Falcon pitching, which recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed just one walk. Despite the loss, the Cardinals played clean, error-free defense.
In the circle, Syd Cahill delivered a solid performance, pitching six innings while allowing six hits and two walks, and striking out four.
Mentor drops to 0-2 on the season and will look to rebound Thursday on the road against Riverside, game time scheduled for 4:30pm.
⚾ Ohtani Shines in Return to Mound as Dodgers Top Guardians
Shohei Ohtani impressed in his first start of the season, pitching six scoreless innings to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 4-1 win over the Cleveland Guardians in rainy conditions.
He allowed just one hit while striking out six and walking three, showing strong form in his return to the mound after several months away.
The Dodgers provided support with Max Muncy’s solo home run in the sixth inning, along with RBI singles from Teoscar Hernández and Andy Pages. Pages had also driven in the game’s first run earlier.
Los Angeles pitchers dominated throughout, with Cleveland scoring its only run in the ninth inning. Despite light rain and field adjustments, Ohtani maintained control and added a hit and two walks at the plate.
The victory helped the Dodgers avoid an early-season series loss and maintain their momentum.

🏀 Dončić Drops 42 as Lakers Cruise Past Cavaliers for Fourth Straight Win
The Los Angeles Lakers pushed their winning streak to four with a 127-113 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, powered by Luka Dončić’s 42 points and 12 assists—his 16th 40-point game this season.
Deandre Ayton added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Austin Reaves scored 19. LeBron James, Jake LaRavia, and Rui Hachimura each finished with 14 as the Lakers continued their momentum after clinching the Pacific Division and a top-six playoff spot.
Jarrett Allen led Cleveland with 18 points and James Harden added 17, while Donovan Mitchell was held to 10. The Cavaliers led early, but Los Angeles took control in the second quarter and never looked back.
The Lakers’ efficient shooting sealed the win and secured consecutive 50-win seasons for the first time in over a decade.
