How One Wellness Brand Is Helping America Sleep Better

You know the importance of sleep, but actually getting enough is easier said than done. One wellness brand decided to study the problem and whether CBD could help.

CBD users have long reported feeling calmer and sleeping better, whether taking the compound by itself or with related hemp-derived compounds like CBN and THC. But rumor isn’t research, so CBDistillery conducted two sleep studies: a 2021 study into CBD and CBN, and a 2023 study with technology app Releaf into CBD, CBN and THC.

Study participants who took CBD and CBN reported falling asleep easier and sleeping an hour longer per night, on average. Study participants who took THC as well as CBD and CBN reported improved quality of sleep and waking up more refreshed the next morning.

Want to experience better sleep and still wake up refreshed? Try CBDistillery’s sleep solutions for yourself and save 25% with code SLP25.

🚧 Mentor Launches 2026 Road Repair Program

Spring construction season is set to begin in Mentor as the city launches both its 2026 asphalt resurfacing program and concrete road repair schedule.

City officials announced that asphalt work is expected to start next week, beginning with milling and pavement repairs in Ward 3. Streets included in the first phase are Ohio Street, Hawk Avenue, Longhorn Road, Dawson Boulevard, Comanche Trail, Ivy Court, Eric Drive, and Welland Drive.

Residents on affected streets will receive advance notices from Philips Paving regarding schedules and temporary access restrictions.

At the same time, the city’s concrete road repair program will begin with saw-cutting work on Hudson Avenue and Kellogg Creek in Ward 1. Pavement removal and replacement are expected to follow shortly afterward.

A&J Cement will notify impacted residents before work begins.

Road programs such as these are part of Mentor’s annual infrastructure maintenance strategy, helping extend pavement life, improve ride quality, and address deteriorating surfaces before larger repairs become necessary.

Drivers should expect construction equipment, lane restrictions, and possible short-term delays in project areas.

City leaders encouraged patience during the busy construction season, noting that timely maintenance helps reduce long-term costs and keeps neighborhood streets in better condition.

More streets may be added or scheduled later in the season depending on weather and project progress.

🥕 Mentor Seniors: Apply for $50 in Fresh Produce Starting April 22

The Ohio Department of Aging is bringing back the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, offering eligible older adults $50 to spend on fresh, locally grown foods. Benefits can be used for fruits, vegetables, herbs and unprocessed honey at participating markets.

Enrollment opens April 22 at noon and runs through May 22, with applications available online. Residents in Mentor and across Lake County will have access to nearby farmers markets and seasonal stands, making it easier to find fresh, nutritious options while supporting local growers.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 60 years old and meet income limits at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level. Participants can choose digital benefits for quicker access or request a physical card, which may take several weeks to arrive.

Benefits are expected to begin May 15, aligning with the start of the growing season. The program aims to improve nutrition for seniors while supporting local agriculture.

💙 City Proclamation Highlights ALS Awareness Efforts

Mentor City Council has proclaimed May 2026 as ALS Awareness Month, recognizing residents and families affected by the progressive neurological disease.

Council members said the resolution was inspired in part by a local resident living with ALS, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Officials noted that about 30,000 Americans live with ALS at any given time. The disease attacks nerve cells controlling voluntary muscles, gradually affecting movement, speech, and breathing.

The proclamation aims to raise awareness, honor patients and caregivers, and encourage continued support for research and services.

The discussion also noted a higher incidence of ALS among military veterans, prompting expanded federal benefits and support through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

By adopting the resolution, Mentor joins communities nationwide using ALS Awareness Month to promote education, compassion, and medical progress.

City leaders thanked the resident who brought the issue forward and emphasized the importance of community voices.

🍽️ Family Dinner Rescue: Delicious, Affordable Meals for the Weekend

When the weekend gets busy, dinner can feel like one more thing to solve. The best family meals are simple, affordable, filling, and popular with picky eaters. Tonight’s Dinner Rescue features two dependable winners that keep costs reasonable while still tasting like a treat.

First up is a Sheet Pan Chicken Fajita Dinner. This is a smart meal because everything cooks together on one pan—less cleanup, less stress. Chicken, peppers, onions, and seasoning roast quickly, then get tucked into warm tortillas. Add lettuce, salsa, or Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter touch. It’s colorful, protein-packed, and easy to customize for each family member. Get the full recipe for Sheet Pan Chicken Fajitas.

Next is a classic comfort choice with a healthier twist: Turkey Sloppy Joes. Using lean ground turkey lowers fat while keeping the flavor families expect. Serve on whole wheat buns with carrot sticks or apple slices for an easy balanced plate. It’s fast, budget-friendly, and usually a hit with kids. Find recipe details for the Turkey Sloppy Joes.

Money-saving tip: make extra portions tonight and use leftovers for lunches tomorrow. One smart dinner can solve two meals.

Dinner doesn’t need to be fancy—it just needs to bring everyone to the table.
