🗓️ Mentor Marsh Visioning Process Begins with Public Meeting This Week

Mentor residents and nature enthusiasts will have an opportunity to help shape the future of one of Northeast Ohio’s most important natural areas during the first public meeting for the Mentor Marsh Master Plan tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Springbrook Gardens Park, 6776 Heisley Road in Mentor, and will give community members a chance to share ideas and priorities for the long-term vision of the Mentor Marsh State Nature Preserve.

As one of Ohio’s most ecologically significant wetlands, Mentor Marsh plays an important role in conservation, environmental education, recreation, and wildlife observation. Yet the preserve faces challenges related to visitor orientation, accessibility, and aging infrastructure that can limit the overall experience.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History, in partnership with the City of Mentor and Lake County, has hired SmithGroup to develop a comprehensive master plan for the preserve. The plan will provide a roadmap for improving the visitor experience while protecting the marsh’s ecological health.

Key objectives include enhancing accessibility, addressing infrastructure needs, supporting educational opportunities, encouraging year-round use and ecotourism, exploring the potential for a future nature center, and engaging the community throughout the planning process.

Residents are encouraged to attend the meeting and provide feedback that could help guide the future of Mentor Marsh for generations to come.

Most Men Notice Aging All at Once

Men's skin is 25% thicker than women's. That sounds like an advantage. It isn't. Thicker skin delays the visible signs of aging — until collagen drops. And when it drops, it drops hard: heavier eye bags, deeper wrinkles, dark spots, loss of firmness. All at once. Most men were never taught to get ahead of it. That’s where Particle Face Cream comes in. A 6-in-1 formula engineered specifically for men's skin — reduces eye bags, dark spots, and wrinkles, restores firmness, hydrates deeply, revives dull tone. Two minutes a day. No complicated routine. Over 1,000,000 men already use it. Try it risk-free with a 30-day money-back guarantee. 20% off with code BH20.

🏘️ The Summer Projects Most Likely to Go Over Budget

Most home projects don't go over budget because homeowners are careless.

They go over budget because people naturally focus on the project they can see—not the surprises they can't.

It usually starts with good intentions.

"We're just replacing the deck."

Then the railings need work. The stairs need rebuilding. Hidden rot shows up. Lighting gets added. Suddenly the old furniture looks out of place.

Before long, one project becomes three.

Decks are one of the most common examples. Northeast Ohio's snow, rain, and freeze-thaw cycles can hide years of damage beneath boards that still look fine from above.

Patios and outdoor spaces have their own surprises. Homeowners budget for pavers or concrete but forget about drainage, grading, edging, lighting, and landscaping around the finished area.

Bathrooms are famous for the phrase contractors hear all the time:

"While we're at it…"

A new vanity turns into new flooring. New flooring makes the old fixtures look tired. Then come mirrors, paint, and lighting.

Landscaping projects can snowball, too. What starts with a few shrubs often grows into mulch, retaining walls, lighting, and fresh grass.

Experienced homeowners know budgeting isn't really about predicting the project.

It's about predicting the surprises.

That's why many professionals recommend setting aside an additional 10% to 20% for the unexpected. They also suggest deciding ahead of time which upgrades are must-haves and which ones can wait.

The project itself usually isn't what blows the budget. It's the surprises and decisions that come after the project begins.

👉🏻 In the full website version, we look at the projects that most commonly exceed expectations—and the habits experienced homeowners use to stay ahead of costly surprises.

⚾ Guardians Blow Ninth-Inning Lead, Lose to White Sox in Walk-Off

Guardians Blow Late Lead, Fall 6-5 on White Sox Walk-Off

Cleveland let a late lead slip away Monday night in Chicago as the White Sox rallied in the bottom of the ninth for a 6-5 victory.

After trailing 3-0, the Guardians battled back with three runs in the seventh inning. Kahlil Watson delivered a two-run pinch-hit single, and Rhys Hoskins added an RBI single to tie the game.

Cleveland appeared to seize control in the ninth. Rookie Travis Bazzana worked a leadoff walk, stole second, advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Patrick Bailey singled. Kyle Manzardo then drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to give the Guardians a 5-4 advantage.

But Chicago answered immediately. Rookie Braden Montgomery walked, Tristan Peters doubled and Sam Antonacci ended it with a two-run single off Cade Smith, handing the White Sox a 6-5 win.

The loss dropped Cleveland to 41-38 and into a tie with Chicago atop the AL Central. The Guardians have now lost 11 of their last 16 games.

Anthony Kay turned in a strong outing, allowing two runs while striking out six and throwing a career-high 101 pitches.

Up next: Left-hander Parker Messick (7-3, 2.70 ERA) starts Tuesday against White Sox right-hander Sean Burke (4-4, 3.89 ERA).

🏈 Browns Rookie Denzel Boston Drawing Comparisons to Panthers Star

The Browns spent heavily on improving their offense in the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting wide receiver KC Concepcion in the first round and later adding Washington receiver Denzel Boston. While Concepcion arrived with first-round expectations, Boston is already creating plenty of buzz inside the organization.

According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, Cleveland coaches and staff believe Boston could have as much impact as Concepcion, despite being a different type of receiver. Concepcion is viewed as an explosive playmaker after the catch, while Boston brings size and physicality on the outside.

Breer reported that Boston has earned the trust of Cleveland's quarterbacks and has even drawn internal comparisons to Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2025.

The similarities are easy to see. McMillan stands 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds, while Boston checks in at 6-foot-3 and 212 pounds. Both excel as physical outside receivers and came from similar offensive systems.

The Browns still haven't settled their quarterback situation, but Boston appears to be building chemistry with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel early in camp.
