🔊 Rush Tribute New World Men Plays Mentor Rocks Tonight
Rush fans can catch a free tribute show tonight as New World Men performs at Mentor Rocks.
The Montreal-based band takes the stage at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at Mentor Civic Amphitheater. New World Men pays tribute to Rush with a set expected to include favorites such as “Tom Sawyer,” “Closer to the Heart,” “Free Will” and more.
The group formed in 2014 and has built a following by recreating the sound, musicianship and energy of a Rush concert. That is no small task. Rush’s music is known for complex arrangements, demanding vocals and some of rock’s most recognizable drum parts.
For local concertgoers, the show offers a free weeknight outing at one of Mentor’s signature summer events. Admission and parking are free. Lawn seating is used, so guests should bring chairs or blankets.
Outside hand-carried food and non-alcoholic drinks are permitted, but coolers, outside alcohol, glass containers, food deliveries and pets are not allowed on the main amphitheater grounds.
Before heading out, attendees can visit mentorocks.info for the grounds map, rules and facility information.

🔥 Mentor Fire Extinguishes Glenn Lodge House Fire; No Injuries Reported
A house fire on Glenn Lodge in Mentor was extinguished Monday after firefighters responded to the 5000 block shortly before noon.
The Mentor Fire Department had initially advised residents and motorists to avoid the area near 5015 Glenn Lodge while crews managed the structure fire. Glenn Lodge was closed for several hours Monday during the emergency response.
According to available information, firefighters found fire inside a wall and were able to expose and extinguish it before it spread into the attic. No injuries were reported, and the home remained habitable.
After the fire, Mentor Fire reminded residents not to use torches or other flame-producing tools to remove weeds near homes, garages, sheds, mulch, siding, landscaping, or other combustible materials.
The department encouraged residents to choose safer weed-control methods, especially around structures.
The incident is a timely reminder that routine yardwork can create serious fire risks when open flames are used too close to a home. Thanks to the quick response from Mentor firefighters, the fire was contained before it became more serious.

🏠 The Saturday Morning Walk That Could Save Homeowners Thousands
They usually give small warnings first.
A gutter starts to pull away. Mulch washes out after a hard rain. A deck board begins to cup. Caulk around a window starts to peel. Water stands in the same low spot after every storm. A tree limb slowly begins rubbing the roof.
None of those things feel urgent at first. That is exactly why they are easy to miss.
One of the smartest homeowner habits is also one of the simplest: once a month, take a slow 15-minute walk around your house.
No tools. No ladder. No phone. No pressure to inspect like a contractor. Just look.
Start outside. Notice the roofline, gutters, siding, foundation, driveway, deck, fence, trees, mulch beds, and grading. Look for anything loose, cracked, leaning, soft, stained, washed out, or holding water.
Then walk inside with the same mindset. Look at ceilings, windows, doors, basement corners, attic access, and areas near plumbing. Pay attention to new smells, sticky doors, extra humidity, or stains that seem darker than before.
The goal is not to create anxiety. It is to become familiar with your home.
That matters because homeowners often stop seeing what they pass every day. A small crack becomes background. A crooked fence panel becomes normal. A faint ceiling stain gets ignored because it has “always been there.”
But when you know what normal looks like, change stands out faster.
A simple note or photo every few months can help, too. You do not need a complicated system. Just enough to compare what you saw last month with what you see today.
The best homeowners are not always the ones who know the most about houses.
They are the ones who notice small changes before they become big problems.
Have you ever noticed that a house seems to change, even when the walls stay exactly where they are?
The kitchen where young children once colored at the table eventually becomes the place where grandchildren bake cookies. A spare bedroom becomes a nursery, then a teenager's room, then a quiet home office. Trees planted in the front yard as saplings grow tall enough to shade the entire house.
The house hasn't changed nearly as much as the life inside it.
That raises an interesting question.
👉🏻 In the full article, we break down exactly how to take the walk — what to look for outside, what to notice inside, and how a few simple notes or photos can help you spot changes before they become expensive surprises.

🏈 Browns’ Deshaun Watson Contract May Be Less Costly Than First Thought
The Cleveland Browns may have softened the financial blow of Deshaun Watson’s contract more than many realized, though there is now some debate over how much relief the team actually received.
According to Pro Football Talk, NFLPA records show the Browns received a series of salary-cap credits tied to insurance on Watson’s deal after his shoulder injury in 2023 and Achilles injury in 2024. The reported credits totaled $88.781 million from 2024 through 2029, including $8.79 million in 2024, $16.773 million in 2025, $21.724 million in 2026 and additional credits in the following years.
Watson missed the entire 2025 season despite returning to some team activities, which helped keep the insurance policy intact. That was significant for Cleveland, which has faced heavy criticism for the fully guaranteed contract and the draft capital used to acquire him.
However, Over the Cap later pushed back on the interpretation of those figures, noting the insurance language came from a March 2023 restructure and may not mean the Browns saved the full amount in the way initially suggested.
Either way, Cleveland’s costly Watson gamble appears to have come with at least some financial protection.
