Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

🚲 Mentor Considers Stronger E-Bike Rules After Resident Raises Safety Concerns

Mentor officials are considering additional e-bike restrictions after a resident urged City Council to address unsafe riding before someone is seriously injured.

Richard Gold told council July 7 that a young rider looking at a phone crashed an e-bike into the back of his parked minivan. Gold said the collision caused about $6,000 in damage and left him with a $1,000 insurance deductible. His account was made during public comment and has not been independently verified.

Gold also raised concerns about young riders ignoring stop signs, carrying passengers and operating fast-moving e-bikes without understanding traffic laws.

The issue follows a June collision at Munson and Melshore roads involving two 15-year-olds riding together on an e-bike. Both teenagers were taken to a hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening.

City officials said Mentor was already reviewing the issue. Police Chief Ken Gunsch told council that officers enforce existing e-bike laws and make traffic stops involving riders. The city is also working with its law department to determine whether further restrictions should be presented to council. No proposed rules or timetable have been released.

Current rules require e-bike riders on roadways to follow traffic laws. In Mentor, the motor must be turned off when an e-bike is used on a sidewalk. Children younger than 16 cannot operate a Class 3 e-bike, which can provide assistance at speeds up to 28 mph.

🚂 Big Boy Steam Locomotive Returns to Lake County Monday

Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014

Railroad fans will have another chance to see Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 when the historic steam locomotive returns through Lake County on Monday, July 13.

The Lake County History Center will host “Big Boy Day 2: The Return Trip” from 8 to 11 a.m. at 415 Riverside Drive in Painesville Township. The locomotive is expected to pass the center at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Because railroad schedules can change, visitors should arrive early and treat the passage time as an estimate.

The train is scheduled to leave Conneaut at 9 a.m. before traveling west through Painesville Township. The event gives residents who missed the locomotive’s earlier eastbound trip another opportunity to see one of the world’s largest operating steam engines.

Visitors are encouraged to register in advance at lakehistory.org so organizers can prepare for parking. Guests should bring their own chairs. Breakfast items and beverages will be available, and donations are appreciated.

Spectators should remain in designated viewing areas, keep a safe distance from the railroad tracks and closely supervise children.

The Lake County Historical Society and Painesville Railroad Museum are presenting the event as part of Lake County’s America 250 celebration.

📰 Mentor Approves $116,485 HVAC Upgrade at City Maintenance Facility

Mentor City Council has approved a $116,485 contract to replace heating and cooling equipment at the city’s maintenance facility.

The project includes a new rooftop HVAC unit, 14 zone dampers and updated building controls. City officials said the existing equipment is original to the facility, which was built in 1998.

The contract was awarded to the John F. Gallagher Company, which submitted the lowest bid. Officials said the proposal met all project specifications.

Council approved the agreement during its July 7 meeting.

The upgrade will replace equipment that has been operating for about 28 years. The city did not announce an installation date or say whether the work will affect operations at the facility.

Have you ever walked into a house and caught yourself imagining where the Christmas tree would go?

Or where you'd drink your morning coffee.

Or where family would gather for Thanksgiving dinner.

It happens surprisingly fast.

Often before you've looked at every bedroom.

Before you've opened every closet.

Before you've even decided whether the house makes financial sense.

That's because people don't experience a home one room at a time.

They experience it one possibility at a time.

It's easy to assume buyers fall in love with houses because of impressive kitchens, larger living rooms, or beautiful landscaping. Those things certainly help. But they rarely tell the whole story.

Sometimes it's the way sunlight pours through a kitchen window on a quiet morning.

Sometimes it's the front porch that feels like it was made for evening conversations.

Sometimes it's simply the feeling that life might be a little easier, a little calmer, or a little more connected here.

Without realizing it, we stop looking at walls and windows.

We begin imagining birthdays.

Weekend breakfasts.

Neighbors waving from across the street.

Children racing through the backyard.

Or peaceful evenings after a long day.

The house hasn't promised us any of those things.

Our imagination has.

Perhaps that's why buyers don't really fall in love with houses.

They fall in love with the life they can already picture living there.

👉🏻 Continue reading: The website article explores why first impressions matter so much, why layout often matters more than size, and why the homes we remember longest are usually the ones that quietly help us imagine our future.

⚾ Guardians Sweep Marlins Behind Cantillo’s Nine Strikeouts

The Cleveland Guardians closed the first half on a high note Sunday, beating the Miami Marlins 5-2 to complete a three-game sweep.

Joey Cantillo delivered five strong innings, allowing one run while striking out nine. His biggest moment came in the second inning, when Miami loaded the bases with no outs. Cantillo escaped without allowing a run, preserving Cleveland’s early lead.

Brayan Rocchio powered the offense with two RBIs, including his eighth home run of the season in the fifth inning. Kyle Manzardo added an RBI single in the first, Kahlil Watson drove in another run in the seventh and rookie Chase DeLauter hit a solo homer in the ninth.

Steven Kwan and Watson each finished with two hits.

Cleveland’s pitching staff controlled the series, with the starters allowing only four runs over 17 2/3 innings. Franco Aleman, Hunter Gaddis and Shawn Armstrong each contributed a scoreless inning Sunday before Cade Smith finished the game.

The Guardians enter the All-Star break with a 51-46 record and will return Friday to open a three-game home series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

⚾ Captains Fall to Lansing, Enter All-Star Break Three Games Back

The Lake County Captains entered the All-Star break with a second straight loss Sunday, falling 3-2 to the Lansing Lugnuts.

Lansing scored twice in the third inning against Lake County starter Jacob Zibin. Myles Naylor drove in Rodney Green Jr. with a single before Jake Reinisch brought home Jared Sprague-Lott for a 2-0 lead.

Lake County answered in the bottom half when Dean Curley’s sacrifice fly scored Ryan Cesarini. The Lugnuts restored their two-run advantage in the fourth on Green’s sacrifice fly.

Jace LaViolette pulled the Captains within one in the fifth, doubling home Tyler Howard. Lake County’s bullpen kept Lansing scoreless the rest of the way, but the Captains were unable to complete the comeback.

Zibin allowed three runs on eight hits over 4⅓ innings. He walked two and struck out four while falling to 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA.

The loss was Lake County’s second in a row after a seven-game winning streak. The Captains are 12-8 in the second half and sit three games out of first place in the East Division.

Lake County returns Friday when the Dayton Dragons visit for a three-game weekend series.
