Fans of REO Speedwagon, Survivor and Loverboy can hear favorites from all three bands when REO Survivor performs at Mentor Rocks on tonight, Tuesday, August 4.

The free concert runs from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mentor Civic Amphitheater, 8600 Munson Road. Parking is also free.

Mentor Rocks describes REO Survivor as a hybrid tribute act presenting a two-hour show featuring songs including “Keep on Loving You,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Working for the Weekend,” “Turn Me Loose,” “Eye of the Tiger” and “High on You.”

There is no permanent amphitheater seating, so attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket. Food trucks will be located on the east side of the grounds, with beer and sparkling beverages available from tents on both sides.

Outside food and nonalcoholic drinks are permitted but must be carried by hand. Coolers, outside alcohol, glass bottles, food deliveries and pets on the main amphitheater lawn are prohibited under the current 2026 rules.

More than 2,700 paved parking spaces are available near the amphitheater. Parking is prohibited in posted areas, on the grass along the bike-path side of Munson Road and at the University Hospitals Brunner Sanden Deitrick Wellness Center.

The show is scheduled rain or shine, although lightning may cause a delay or cancellation.

Lake County could have fewer sheriff’s deputies patrolling Lake Erie next year unless officials secure additional funding for the Marine Patrol.

According to News 5 Cleveland, the specially trained unit patrols county waterways from May through Halloween and responds to dozens of calls each season.

Lt. Larry Harpster told News 5 that the patrol’s three-year state grant expires after the 2026 boating season. The unit would then rely on a federal grant that he said is running short of money.

Harpster said the patrol is the only agency consistently covering Lake County waters after the U.S. Coast Guard reduced its hours.

The sheriff’s office has not said how much funding is needed or how many patrols could be affected.

The Mentor Municipal Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Thursday, Aug. 13, on two conditional use permit requests.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Mentor Municipal Center, 8500 Civic Center Boulevard.

One request would allow a temporary event at 8827 Mentor Avenue, Unit A, in the B-2 General Business District. The application was submitted by Jarad Regano and CMR Realty LLC. The city’s notice does not include additional event details.

The second request would allow a Firestone automotive repair shop at 5811 and 5799 Heisley Road in the M-1 Light Manufacturing District. The applicants are Bridgestone Retail Operations LLC and Delta Wye LLC.

Because both uses require conditional approval under Mentor’s zoning code, the Planning Commission will review the proposals before deciding whether to issue the permits. Residents interested in either request may attend the hearing.

The Cleveland Guardians entered Monday’s trade deadline needing more offense. They finished it with two established hitters—and an All-Star starting pitcher.

Cleveland acquired outfielder Jo Adell from the Los Angeles Angels, first baseman and designated hitter Nathaniel Lowe from the Cincinnati Reds and left-hander Foster Griffin from the Washington Nationals, according to Major League Baseball’s official transaction records.

The moves strengthen a team that entered Monday at 57-56, three games behind the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central and occupying the league’s final wild-card position, one game ahead of Minnesota.

Adell adds a right-handed power threat to a lineup that had struggled against left-handed pitching. The 27-year-old was batting .239 with 16 home runs and 62 RBIs after hitting a career-high 37 homers last season. Cleveland sent Double-A catcher Jacob Cozart to Los Angeles.

Lowe brings an experienced left-handed bat for first base and designated hitter. He was batting .266 with 12 home runs and had been especially productive against right-handed pitching. Cleveland sent 19-year-old pitching prospect Alejandro Rivera to Cincinnati for Lowe. In a separate transaction, the Guardians traded infielder Juan Brito to the Reds for cash considerations.

The largest prospect package went to Washington in the Griffin deal. Cleveland sent pitchers Will Dion, Josh Hartle and Kendeglys Virguez and outfielder Nick Mitchell for the 31-year-old left-hander, who earned his first All-Star selection while going 12-3 with a 3.06 ERA.

To make room for the newcomers, Cleveland optioned Kyle Manzardo and David Fry to Triple-A Columbus.
