🍴 Cozy Up with Classic Beef Stroganoff for a Perfect Winter Meal

Beef stroganoff is a comforting, flavorful dish perfect for cold nights. It combines tender beef and mushrooms in a creamy, rich sauce made with red wine, Dijon mustard, and sour cream, served over buttery egg noodles. 🏈 Mentor’s Defense Shuts Out Strongsville, Advances to Regional Semifinals

In a Division I regional quarterfinal rematch on November 8, Mentor’s defense took control against Strongsville, earning a 33-0 shutout victory at Jerome T. Osborne Stadium. While Mentor’s offense dominated in their previous meeting, this game saw the Cardinals' defense limit the Mustangs to only 40 rushing yards and a total of 125 yards, significantly stifling Strongsville's offensive options.

Mentor’s offense, led by West Virginia commit Scotty Fox, scored three touchdowns and accumulated 301 yards. Fox threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns, with junior running back Jackson Farley adding 164 rushing yards, a touchdown, and a reception for another. Justen Hodge also made key contributions with a punt return touchdown and several impressive catches. However, Mentor missed multiple field goals and had other missed opportunities on extra points, highlighting areas for improvement as they advance in the playoffs.

Mentor, now 12-0, will face Canton McKinley in a regional semifinal on November 15. Coach Matt Gray praised his team’s defensive response following their earlier matchup against Strongsville, noting that alignment and blocking execution were crucial in shutting down the Mustangs' offense. Strongsville closed their season at 7-5 under head coach Jason Trusnik, who expressed pride in his team’s accomplishments this season.

🏈 Lake Catholic Cruises Past Mogadore Field, Advances to Semifinals

The Lake Catholic Cougars powered through the Mogadore Field Falcons with a decisive 35-3 win in the OHSAA High School Football Playoff regional quarterfinal. Quarterback Frankie Trinetti led the offensive charge, throwing three touchdown passes to set the Cougars ahead early. Trinetti connected with Tyler Hribar for an 11-yard score, followed by a 25-yard touchdown pass to Patrick Radigan after an interception, ending the first quarter at 14-0.

Trinetti’s third touchdown, a 30-yard pass to Caden Boyes, extended the lead, while the Falcons responded with a field goal, making it 28-3. Lake Catholic then capitalized on a blocked punt, with Jimmy Gibbons scoring on a 6-yard run, securing the final score at 35-3 with nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Cougars’ defensive pressure and efficient offense set the stage for a strong semifinal matchup against Glenville next weekend.
